I think the bad injury caused by Dan Smith to diaby has had long term impacts on his ability to stay fit. As pleasing as the win against Porto was, they had two great chances at 0-0, and we are clearly defending even worse than last year—when calamity at the back meant losing to a pretty dire Liverpool side.

Rosicky I rate hugely, but I’m becoming extremely concerned about his injury. A few months ago they were saying he’d be back in August; now Wenger says we’d do well to have him back by Christmas. To think we can rely on a trouble-free return (and return to form) is beyond optimism.

Ditto we don’t know exactly when Eduardo will return, nor how he’ll fare.

With regards to Diaby, I have no idea where this view comes from that he can shrug off his constant injuries and become The New Vieira. Even when fully fit his passing is often abysmal – he may have the physique of Vieira, but he has the mind of a schoolkid who thinks he’s Lionel Messi—dribbling every time he gets the ball. Even his tackling can be poor. Just because he looks like Vieira, doesn’t mean he plays as such. I don’t wish to be too harsh – the boy has talent. But the idea that he can come in and change the team is, again, remarkably optimistic.

Given our side’s poor defending (and frankly abysmal defeats to Fulham and Hull), I am almost certain we will not win the League, and cannot see us winning the European Cup unless something significantly changes before February. The FA Cup, as ever, is a possibility.Haribohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11353292402895107855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-731298363130971399.post-60640054018166864472008-10-03T15:49:00.000+01:002008-10-03T15:49:00.000+01:00danny cipriani returned to play for wasps also aft...danny cipriani returned to play for wasps also after dislocating his ankle. Dont forget that before we signed him he had been out for almost 8 months with a nasty injuries. Then that sunderland thug ruined him again and was out for almost a year. If it wasnt for that we wouldnt be talking about Flamoney going, 'is it Denilson or song' or we need to buy. It would be Diaby along side cesc. I really do feel sorry for him. For a young player to be out this amount of time early in his career is very bad, and unfortunatly i dont think he will ever fulfill he massive early potential. I hope i'm wrong.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-731298363130971399.post-24089720652306758042008-10-03T15:27:00.000+01:002008-10-03T15:27:00.000+01:00On reading your post, especially the part on his f...On reading your post, especially the part on his first tackle. Should someone tackle wrecklessly, whos to say he wont get another injury(god forbid).

If the unthinkable does occur then i would have to be the player behind it.
