This may read more horrid than a Derek McGovern column but we have to concede that one day there will be life at Arsenal without Arsene Wenger at the helm.
Whoever steps into his shoes will have an absolutely massive job on their hands, most probably the second biggest job in football. The first, begrudgingly, I have to admit is whoever takes over at Manchester United after Ol' Red Nose.
It's going to take someone who can cope with the pressure of succeeding Wenger. Someone with nuts bigger than an unfortunate Elephantiasis sufferer, but also someone who shares the same philosophy as Arsene.
As Arsenal supporters we have become accustomed to watching the best style of football in the world. In truth the only other side to rival our brand of football is Wednesdays visitors to the Emirates, Barcelona.
I like watching Barcelona. Like us, they play football the right way and are very entertaining. Our Champions League tie will be spectacular and a great advert for the game of football.
This will be down to two managers with the same principles and ideas. Arsene Wenger and Josep Guardiola.
I honestly feel that Guardiola could be the man to lead Arsenal in our next era. In fact, I'm convinced he is the right man to do the job. And I think he would relish the opportunity to do so to.
In the past it has been said that the Barca manager would love to manage in England and especially in London. I think he is far too classy for that lot down at Slagford Bridge and definitely too good for the other mob at Shite Fart Lane. That only leaves us doesn't it?
We will see Guardiola patrolling the away technical-area, well I hope that he will be the next man after Wenger to patrol the home one.
Despite writing all this I still believe that Arsene Wenger is the man for Arsenal. I hope you, my fellow Gooners, don't think that I am trying to write him-off! Far from it in fact.
I love the man to bits but its just an opinion of mine that I'd like Guardiola to eventually take over his mantle. He'd be the right man.
Whoever gets the job in the future will be a very privileged man but also one who has to walk into Wenger's shadow. Josep is strong enough and more than good enough to do so.
Guardiola has great qualities and has been very successful in recent times but I wouldn't put him in Wenger's league yet. He will be, eventually, and I hope that he is Arsenal gaffer when he gets there!

ReplyDeletepep spent alot of time at london colney learning from wenger before he took over at barca. To this day he has a dvd of every arsenal game sent to him.

He will only have to fail one season at Barca before he is shifted out, just like previous managers there and at Real Madrid. You never get to see how their managers have to work through difficult times like Wenger has at Arsenal. Frankly managing Barca at the moment is a doddle but what about when the current side starts breaking up ?

He would love to manage in a stadium which is nearly on par with Barca, also a club with more history, than Chelsea.
But we will go for someone such as Bergkamp, Bould, Martinez etc.

Arsene seems to be running out of time,we won't win nothing again this season,i really feel we have gone as far as we can with arsene he once knew,now he is fighting a battle he can't win and that is money...i think for his legacy he should quit at the end of the season and let us take a different approach.

ReplyDeleteGuardiola has a deal at Barca until the presidential election is over. He Likes Laporta but he cannot stand again so Pep will leave if the new man is not Laporta's prodigy. At the moment the opposing candidate has a lead in the polls so it is more than possible that he will leave at the same time as Wenger's contract runs out.
ReplyDeletethere were alot of reports claiming that Arsene have often invited guardiola to watch arsenal train and trying hard to convince pep that he is really keen for him to take his position once he retires. He only signed a one year extension at barca and arsene's contract is running up.
ReplyDeleteIt may seem crazy to suggest that pep will leave barca,but at arsenal he will be given 100% freedom. There cant be a bigger job than barca's so why not arsenal next then.
Pep won 6 trophies in his 1st year. He shipped out the deadwood deco and ronaldhino. They have the best defence in la liga(an attacking league) with the second highest goal scored! unproven? so was arsene when he first arrived and now he is a legend. And not until pep improves? how exactly? he won all the trophies he could lay on his 1st year. They play 'total football' and he somehow managed to get all his players including the strikers to play deep and press the opposition anywhere on the pitch when they don't have the ball. Arsene really wants Guardiola to manage arsenal!
of course pep can, must and should improve. wenger's track record coming to scouting and unearth stars sre something pep can't match...yet. can pep build a team (club) on a shoestring budget? is he a stayer when bad times arrives?

Wasen´t Paul Le Guen for a couple of years ago seen as the natural successor to Wenger, and it was said that he was the one Wenger wanted to take over after him. This died out when he took over Rangers and didn´t do well at all
ReplyDeletePlease tell me i did not just read Martinez as a possible successor to Arsene Wenger. He should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Arsenal! Guardiola would be great at Arsenal some time in future and realistic target too considering the fact that managers in spain do not have a particularly long life span. However i think soon with all the new regulations coming in on Wages and tranfer fees only being able to come from the money generated, the hierarchy's at RM and FCB will soon realise that the answer is not to jump ship every time you have a bad season, in fact i think that's why Real Madrid wanted Wenger, because managers like that don't just build a team, they build a club. Here's hoping Wenger stays for another 10 years!

u thibk barcelona play like u..heyy wenger never had any knowledge of total football..rinus michels invented it,cruyff continued with it.both taught it to ajax,holland and barcelona..and in cruyff's dream team there was pep guardiola..wenger is just an amateur compared to pep.arsenal have young players but are they frm your youth academy??in barca they r trained specially for total football and thats how fabregas helps you...wenger is just a loser he does not admit he wants to play like barca!
