Even someone from Mars could provide grit!

I think people could argue all day long that Arsenal need an English backbone and our lack of English players could be a major reason for us being starved of trophies in recent years.

I don't agree..............

Its obvious we need some grit in there. Some of our players are softer than Tesco's blue stripe toilet roll.

But why do some people always assume that English is what we need to give us a bit of 'toughness'?

Is there proof that English players are harder and provide more grit than any other nations players?

There is no proof that on those cold snowy Tuesday nights in Blackburn English players will just roll their sleeves up and get on with it more than a foreigner.

Its all about character.

And when was the last time all that 'grit' won England anything anyway?

Keep it Goonerish.............

  1. Too true although some nations seem to have a higher percentage of players with true grit look at the Eastern european nations and players like Vidic they do have a lot of grit. Whereas for instance if you look at Portguese and Spanish players in general they seem to have far less grit.

REASONABLY PACEY AND WITHOUT QUESTION AERIAL DOMINANCE- HE MADE TONI HIS BITCH FOR THE DAY. HOPE WENGER WILL HAVE A LOOK AT HIM WHEN HE OFFLOADS SILVESTRE(Fuck what wenger said he has to go

  7. 100% agree...if we only picked players because of how strong there are we would have the All Blacks rugby team

  8. Yeh surely the "grittiest" player in the league is essien!? No english player can match him in that department

Also, agree that Luisao is good

  13. I ask you all,are you gonna stand for another mercenary bleeding our club(Van Persie)how can he get a 25 percent pay rise for being a complete failure,he ran around like a headless chicken in one cl semifinal and one FA cup semifinal and spent half the season on the treatment table.

  14. van persie was the sole reason we made 4th place i suggest you look at some videos of arsenal december to march

  15. RvP had a poor season he's a poor mans Torres,Ade a poor mans Drogba an so on! English players way to expensive, we payed to much for Walcott when the better option was Ashley Young!

  16. i c no prob with van persie getting 70k a week as he was one of our most influential players last season...arguably that alone does not earn him a 25% pay raise, but i belive he will bang in even more goals next season as we challange 4 premier league and cl

  17. he didnt have as good a season as i had hoped but in previous years his goals:games ratio has been brilliant.

adebayor messd it up by becoming our main goalscoring forward so rvp had to play as support.

I like him because there are times where i feel hes the only one willing to fight for a victory, too many of our players just start to feel sorry for themselves.
eboue is another who will fight, maybe gibbs has that spirit in himi duno, but im not sure of any others

  18. oh, also rvp hit the bar/post at least 13 times by my count this year.
imagine if half of those went in. then we'd be looking at a pretty decent goals record, even if he was already our topscorer

  19. hello fellow gooners.
i'm not sure if anybody have brought up this before, but does anybody else realize that Arsenal have a collection of 19 different nationalities in the first team alone. Not that i really care, but seriously. 19?
    Here are those:

    1. French-Gallas, Clichy,Sagna etc

    2. Spanish-Fabregas,Almunia

    3. Ivory Coast-Toure,Eboue

    4. Swiss-Senderos,Djourou

    5. Cezch-Rosicky

    6. Brazilian-Denilson,Melo(hopefully)

    7. Dutch-RVP

    8. English-Walcott,Wilshere,Gibbs

    9. Croatian-Eduardo

    10. Danish-Bendtner

    11. Cameroonian-Song

    12. Togolese-The Bayor

    13. Mexican-Vela

    14. Polish-Fabianski

    15. Russian-Arshavin

    16. Italian-Mannone

    17. Welsh-Ramsey

    18. Portugese-Bischoff

    and the latest addition..drumroll...

    19. Belgium-Vermalean

maybe it is some kind of weird hobby but in all seriousness..how could possibly all these 19 different people from 19 different background and culture integrated into the team.
Just imagine if the rumoured transfer of Lorik cana (Albanian), Chamakh (Moroccan) or Hitzlperger(spelling.Germans) go through.
