Robin van Persie - A Shining Light In The Darkness

(I would like to start by saying that I have succumbed to modern technology and I am now on Twitter. @_Wrighty7)

I don't really want to write about the shambles that we saw earlier in the day. The less said about that the better in my opinion.

Because, the more I think about it, the more I want to go out and pick a fight with someone smaller than me. Knowing my luck I'd start on a Ninja or something, so I'll leave it.

We all know since the end of February this Arsenal team have struggled. They have struggled more than my old man making a bacon sarnie without burning it.

Players have underperformed, Wenger has underperformed, and more most important of all, the UK underperformed on the Eurovision song contest.

But throughout all that under performing, and the 'darkness' surrounding the club like Beth Ditto's shadow, one man has shone like a beacon.....

Robin van Persie.

How I love this man. I love him like a brother or close family member.

Sometimes I wish that some other members of the squad had half his commitment and desire for Arsenal Football Club.

You can tell how much pulling that red and white on means to him. He loves the club. The Arsenal, and he loves us too.

This last couple of months he has tried his heart out for us. He could do no more.

It is not RvP's fault that some of the other players don't match his attitude but I wish they did.

Early in his career with Arsenal I would never have believed how important he would be to the club and how much influence he would have like he does now.

How much has he matured this season?

If Robin had been fit for the whole campaign he would have finished top scorer in the league by at least 5-7 goals. Easily.

He has gone up so much in my estimation and I hope that next season he remains injury-free. He deserves it.

If we had more players with his attitude I doubt we would be moping today. We'd be celebrating because we would have just won the league.

Wenger needs to look at van Persie and get players in who have his desire for winning and showing fight for the Arsenal.

(Don't forget Twitter @_Wrighty7)

Keep It Goonerish..........

I do as well. My regret of the season is that he could not completed that 90 minutes against birmingham...

What an insult to family members. What a slap in the face for one's own kin.

Get a fucking grip, love him like a brother. Do you really think this guy loves you or Arsenal. he loves his massive pay packet and were he fit instead of injured 90% of the time then you can be assured he wouldnt be at Arsenal.

He needs a serious side kick with as much talent as himself.

r we talking abt the guy who didnt start the season with the rest of the team
who is fresher than the rest.

For every RVP and Cesc we have usless Wankers like Arshavin and Walcott. We really need a clearout of the deadwood and there is a lot of deadwood at the club.4th place is our.Well done Wenger you twat

arsene wenger should please off load all burden guys on us. Ashavin, squillaci, bendtner, etc should go. bravo vp

Robin is the Bomb.

The criticisms of Walcott are unfair, for a young player still learning the game he is one of the only players in the team who can get the crowd off their seats. If he had players with better movement around him he would be doing a lot better.

The season was over ages ago, and everyone knows the players who need to go. Get in 4 or 5 English players from the relegated teams, players like Scott Parker, Scott Dann, Roger Johnson etc to give some beef and heart to this team.

When you couple that with the flair our players already have, and of course a defensive coach, you actually have the makings of a great team.

Nasri and Fabregas need players in that dressing room who will tell them to stop moping about and man up.

you can tell rvp feels at home at arsenal. he believes in the club's footballing philosophy and he is a connection to the invincibles generation. he's the spiritual heart of this arsenal team. i love him.

RVP can anyone tell me how many he missed today? like last week at stoke and the two he missed just before he scored at home to liverpool? every week he misses a bag full but all you remember is the goal he scored.

PS- I would get 20+ goals at aresnal and i'm 50+

reply so why does he live with all the THFC players

I think we have to forget any links with the invincible's and this team.
Not before they show a bit more passion and heart, but they won't do it on their own we need reinforcements and not any tom dick or harry we need quality players in the positions filled at the moment with players not up to the task, and if the manager cannot find them get out early and give the incoming man a chance.

Shame RvP is a rapist.

Anonymous said...

He's our best player obviously, and as a player he cares for the club second only to Eboue. Cesc should be top of both lists...but he is not. That is where the clean out should start with Arshavin, Denilson, Rosicky and sadly Eboue right behind. All can be replaced with players with more heart, talent and grit. Just no more over the hill French surrender monkey defenders.

As for many of these so called Gooner posters on this blog and a thousand others that are acting like fucking bipolar Spuds, they can all fuck off.

wrighty, one fairly good season from robin is the least we can expect from a 27 year old whom we have paid millions of pounds in wages to and that dose not include our loyalty shown to him for various mistermeaners over the years and also the top notch medical treatment he has received also.
putting that aside i think the biggest guerrier and lowlife ever to put his feet through arsenal football club is wenger, and the best investment that the club could make is raising £21 million and buying out that scum bastards 3 year contract

Far too much irrational negativity in this comments section today. Thank god we are not in the same boat as hammers fans! Now that is a tragedy!

At 22 Walcott may be a young guy but unfortunately he is still the same young boy we signed 6 years ago, his lack of progress is stunning, he doesn't beat a man, and I mean really beat a man, one on one and goes past him, his only weapon is his pace and he doesn't use it, he unfortunately doesn't have and will never have a football brain. How often this season does he explode for the first 5/10 minutes and look like the one who will carve the other team open at will only to disappear for the rest after the full back figures him out? Theo is a good impact player but that's it.

RvP has the commitment to the cause and the shirt means something to him, same as it does Wilshere, Ramsey, Vermealen, Song, Sagna, Chesney, all the ones who give everything in every game, the difference between RvP and Wilshere is that RvP started later, Wilshere ran into the ground all season long, same as Song and Sagna. Ramsey, Vermealen are finding feet still and Chesney needs experience, those not listed (Squil, Deni, Cesc, Arshavin, Bendtner, even Nasri if he doesn't want to be there) can clear off, we are The Arsenal, we existed before these players, we'll exist after them, no one man is bigger than a club, keep those who are good enough and want to stay, sell those who dont and bring in ones who want to fight, doesn't matter about talent, this team has talent (more than United certainly), they don't have bottle which you need to win trophies (which United have and we've lost).

Why do some of you guys want to get a few West Ham players into the team? These players are playing for a to be relegated team so a few of them seems to defeat the purpose of having a strong team to challenge for honour. Get some A class players :)

Wrighty,
The frustration you are reading on this blog from us loyal supporters is simply because we are disappointed that we are at the end of yet another season empty handed!
As far as the price of the season tickets going up I have been on the waiting list for 5 years so if people don't want their season tickets I am waiting along with 38.000 other people!!
Let AV do what he does and enjoy the football!
We still have Champions Leugue football next year and with a couple of players in and a couple out we will win that promised silverware!
Loyal Gooners stay loyal or give up your season ticket, there's lots of us waiting in the wings for them!!
True Gooner

What a disappointment arsenal r at the min. Being a arsenal fan is bad at this moment in time, well shocking if u ask me, rvp is arsenal he makes the team so all u plastic arsenal fans don't know what your taking about, wenger is to blame her because he has money buy won't spend it, it like it's his own personal money pisses me off get some quality in the team no matter how much it costs

LOVE ROBIN and lmao at the twat saying he'd score 20+ at Arsenal STFU and crawl back into your hole. Robin bleeds Arsenal, love the guy, and now we've got Chezzer, Vermy, Jack & possibly Rambo & Sagna - if we can get that lot to bleed for us too (not such a difficult task IMO) then another invincible season will be on the way!

Any half decent striker would score a hatful at arsenal, if they just got themselves into the box and took shots instead an extra pass.

Anonymous said...

The problem lies with the defense. We can't seem to handle the simple long ball played over the defense.
Yesterday we tried playing the offside trap, but without someone taking the Tony Adams role of making sure that all backs were in line and came out at the right time. Result 2 goals down after 15 minutes and an uphill struggle for the rest of the match.
Going forward we are as good as anyone in the premiership. Defensively we are pussycats.

How can anyone say "If not for injuries,RVP wouldn`t be at AFC." He could have signed for Man U. Chelsea or a couple of Spannish and Italian clubs prior to the start of the season, they were all after his signature. He turned them all down saying..."It`s not about money...it`s about playing for the club you love."So you doubter...he could have left and got an even bigger pay packet but,he chose to stay.Robin is a true Gooner.

As has been said...... no man is bigger than the club, this is THE ARSENAL........ not the Arsene.

What has happened is that Wenger has become too big, been relied on too much and because of his succesfull early years (built on the back of a side already built that he added a couple of players to) is OVER-RATED.

This current bunch is completely his creation and the eurotrash football we play is BORING. Pass pass pass and keep posession by passing sideways and backwards is boring, something I always hated about watching Italian and French football, and a reason why English sides have always done so well in European competitions is that the way we play the game will beat these sides 9/10.

The only way things will change is for Wenger to go, but there are so many scare mongers who say - we could end up doing a lot worse - really, but hang on we are not doing that well now!! And He will have to go one day, why not now before he damages the club and his reputation any further.

Wenger will not go on his own ....he is too stubborn for that, hence the reason he surrounds himself with yes men like Pat Rice! The gutless board must for once do something proactive as happened when they bought in Wenger, and they must do it NOW!

The way to protest and make a point is to refuse to buy the new shirts. Money seems to be all we care about these days so hit them where it hurts, there pocket.

" make a point is to refuse to buy the new shirts."

i have said this a few times and it's about time we started a protest group

Dich the shirt !!!!

Arshavin isn't a wa**r. He is a world class players who is wasted by our manager, he is played out of position.

Walcott is brainless, Song is average and I don't even want to talk about Denilson, Diaby, Almunia, Squilaci, Chamakh and average Bentner.

It's Wenger's fault. He is too stubborn. He won't change. He will buy some unknown, French, cheap, cr*p players and we end up outside the top 4.

I have heard, we have made a bid for Robert Green. Is this some sort of a joke?

Robin is arsenal through and through, i share your view.
absolutely love the man, works his socks off for the team and wants to stay at arsenal regardless.

A true gent, the new Mr.Arsenal

Arsenal fans really do amaze me. No doubt this season has been terrible but it is inconceivable that you manage to critise RVP. He has clearly been our standout player, both in quality and commitment.

THE TEAM AND MANAGEMENT IS PANTS.
RUBBISH PLAYERS
IT IS TIME FOR WENGER TO GO

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE MANAGER
DOESN'T SEE WHAT THE WHOLE WORLD SEES

THESE PLAYERS ARE RUBBISH PERIOD.

AM GOING TO BET YOU 20 POUNDS,YOU WILL STILL SEE THE SAME RUBBISH PLAYERS NEXT SEASON
