There is no room for sentiment-Toure must be dropped.

Its hurts to say but I think that Le Boss needs to drop Kolo Toure and bring Johan Djourou into the side.

It's obvious that the Toure-Gallas partnership isn't working. There is no doubt that both are superb defenders but as a pair they struggle.

Both need a dominant player alongside them. Toure was immense with Sol Campbell and Gallas equally as good with John Terry next to him.

Djourou can be the dominant centre back we require. Physically he is the right size and when he has played he has looked the part.

I have defended Gallas in the past and will continue to do so. Gooners are split on him and I imagine we always will be. He was blamed for Hull's second goal from the corner but it wasn't his fault. In fact it was Toure's.

Toure was actually marking Cousin and lost him. Gallas was trying to deal with it and was caught out by Toure losing his man.

I think Gallas brings more to the side than Toure and out of the two I'd say Gallas is the more in-form player. Toure hasn't been the same since coming back from the ANC in January and needs to be the player sacrificed.

I think the problem at Arsenal is complacency. Certain players are undroppable and they know it. Le Boss needs to shake things up and at the back is the first place I'd start.

We all love Toure and rightly so but we can't be blinded by that. He is the player that needs to be dropped in favour for Djourou and you never know, in the long run it will do him good.

Keep it Goonerish.........

  1. Kolo has been awful since the African cup of nations. Malaria in the summer has made things worse.

    Thats not the main issue.

Why did Arsene play our only defensive midfield player in a worthless Coca-Cola cup tie. Denilson is too small and weak in the tackle.

  2. Maybe he was scared because he knew his team mates were coming into the game overpaid, soft and complacent. Ha ha ha. You were beaten by the better team, simple as that. Could we possibly arrange to play you every week?

  3. Toure should be dropped, not recovered since the ACN. But Gallas was responsible for the goal. It was his man. I have friends among the players because I used to be on a youth deal at Arsenal and Gallas apologised after the game for losing his man.

But Gallas is still better than Kolo, sorry Kolo you gotta be dropped.

  4. i agree! but it's not this weekend that realised this, wenger said in the summer that we conceaded alot of our goals from direct balls and he was gonna rectify the situation by buying a dominant centre half.....so what happened? my belief is, like robinho and baptista few years ago wenger had a particular someone in mind, but didn't get his man this summer and wenger doesn't do alternatives. But he as fault for this!

  5. Ruskin,

  7. gallas and toure are for me jack of all trades but not world class! hence why they can play at fullback also....but the best combination of defenders are to have a stopper and sweeper man utd have it with vidic and ferdinand....chelsea have it with terry and carvaliho, the italian teams have it....we used to have it with adadms and campbell for a year or adams and keown one is dominant in the air and gets tight and the other controls the defence offside trap and drops off 5yards, it's not rocket science but we're making it that way

    ReplyDelete
  8. Ruskin we could arrange for our Reserves to play your lot if you'd like. Sure you were the better team Saturday, but I highly highly doubt you'd even manage a shot off the next time you come to Emirates!

  9. To be fair you put your firts team out on Saturday and got beat so I don't see the reserve doing anything.

  10. finally someone understands why its not good to be sentimental, when i wrote a comment on a post in the summer about toure not having grown in stature and turned into a camball or a keown after learning from them and goin backwards as a player i was attacked, also when i said he lacks composure and cannot be a central midfielder either i was attacked by idiots sayin thats his natural position, right now kolo needs to find out wat his best position is himself,he is lost,im not defending gallas either, but toure has not grown up into the commanding defender he should have,he is a follower,he played well with good defenders but gallas refuses to challenge for a ball and kolo goes and copies

  11. To be fair you probably wont ever play at the Emirates again because you will be relegated and wont ever come back up.

  14. You lot must be feck'in mentalists, Toure is world class. Speed, power and a high vertical jump(tests). Gallas is the weak link, Terry bailed him out with his height. Gallas has good positioning, which gets him goals, but WITHOUT a taller partner, he does NOT have the vertical jump at 6ft tall.
TOURE was at his best with Campbell, and Senderos(remember the 10 clean sheets in CL together).
Djourou is the better partner at 6ft3, speed and his positioning is getting better. Put SONG in midfield, for some 'thug life', and use him in defence to give Toure a rest when needed(similiar styles).
    Get a grip Gooners!

    TUPAC
    'thug life'
    vs Hull,Bolton,Wigan...

  16. I've felt from day one Toure was an accident waiting to happen, his style of play wins him affection, but generally his last ditch tackles and winning balls he shouldn't is down to him being in the wrong positions and not reading the game in the first place.

    cuntchops

Bit childish there Wrighty7 mate. Bad loser.

  18. Bit childish? It was only a joke.

The way Hull played on Saturday I hope they do stay up.

They are a credit to the Premiership.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well cheers - we will see at the end of the season but we are giving ourselves every chance of staying up. Brown, Ashbee, and quite a few others at City deserve a lot of credit.

  20. Drop Gallas, nothing wrong with Toure. Gallas could always make mistakes and still people consider him as world class and that's pure rubbish.

    ReplyDelete
  21. No,no,no,no Djourou is as bad a defender as Senderos.Prone to one or two costly mistakes every game and as insecure on corners as Gallas and Toure put together.....i will tell you this if he lines up alongside Gallas or Toure it will cost us a goal against Porto he is an accident waiting to happen.Wenger must deal with the elephant in the room we simply have to sign someone with the quality of a real centre back come january. At the moment he should keep playing Toure and Gallas as they are a far better combo then Djourou/Toure or Gallas/Djourou.I hear through the grapewine that Benitez and Agger are at odds with each other.Agger would be the perfect centre back the guy is as har d as big Tone used to be and as commanding in the air and even scores the odd goal here and there.Wenger was out to get him but once again he wouldnt pay the prize quoted by Brøndby.

  22. The fact is we lost, it was the teams fault, were you at the match, we were shit, I spent 90mins shouting for someone to take control, Hull were in top form, Toure on his day is world class and so is gallas (athough Im not a fan of his), the fact is we played like shit, all our players were poor.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Maaaaaaaaaaahg lol

  24. More rubbish from you!

TOURE??? The problem is GALLAS!!!! And it wasn't Toure marking Cousin it was Gallas so stop making shit up! And what about his defending for the Fulham corner? Or his ineptitude against Davies last week?

And to cap it all off - this feeble excuse for an Arsenal captain has come out today and said that Arsenal must fight hard to maintain FOURTH POSITION!!!! Is that the sum of his ambitions?! Is that what he's instilling in the players, the drive to finish just fourth?

    GET GALLAS OUT!
AND TAKE THAT OFFSIDE CUNT ADEBAYOR WITH YOU!

  25. You 'can't see it lasting'. That's interesting. What could you 'see' before Saturday's game?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Dennis Waterman, Eric Bristow, Terry Venables, Ken Livingstone, Ross Kemp, The Kray twins, Alf Garnett, Hugh Grant, Janet Street Porter, you boys took one hell of a spanking tonight

    ReplyDelete
  27. I could see that we shouldn't have underestimated Hull.

Check it out, I wrote an article on it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Stop making shit up???

Have a look at the video. It's clearly Toure who loses his man.

    ReplyDelete
  29. City were the old division 3 in 2003, and 3 of Saturday's team have been with us all the way since, including Saturday's man of the match. It doesn't get much better than that.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Toure and Gallas are both weak in the air and weak in the tackle. You can see more dancing and prancing with these two than at a dog show. Exactly what kind of leadership do either of these two contribute? Wenger can't drop anybody so we'll see these clowns all season. All pretty passing on Saturday, much of it useless as it was in the opponents box, but when it comes to the rough stuff we can't compete. I don't remember one hard tackle we put in, can denilson even tackle? Seriously, players like parlour and others of a sadly bygone era would jump down your throut the moment you crossed midfield. There's a stark difference we're dealing with now boys and it has something to do with dedication and commitment, which we really don't have at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anonymous at 18.44 you are spot on.Where have the tackling midfielder gone they are all prancing around like they dont want to dirty their designer Football boots and are scared of the tackle we need a big fucking cunt in the side that can tackle properly and not dirty like Parlour or Vieira.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Spot on Wrighty. Maybe a Gallas/Silvestre or Djourou partnership would be worth a goal for a while or drop Gallas just drop one of them for a while cause it's taken for granted that they're the first names on the pitch and we can't have that. They have to work for that spot from now on. Also I expect Van Persie and Eboue to be dropped for Porto with Nasri and probably Vela getting starts and all as a result of the Hull game. It might turn out to be a good thing cause hopefully Vela and Djourou can step up now.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Danish Gooner,
No we need a little dirty, not too much, not too much yellows and no red foolishness, but a little dirty, yes that's exactly what we need. You have to love vieira and parlour for what they embodied. Pure heart, they played fair and won fair and if it started to get a bit mean, they could beat you that way too. That has all changed now that it's teeny bopper time at the emirates and the results are there for all to see, no trophies for four years and counting.

  35. i disagree!..kolo is the better defender and gallas should be dropped!....but the bigger issue isnt the defence,i think the issue is the offense!....arsenal could have scored a dozen goals that day!!just like on most other days..Guys RVP and the miss ten and score one adebayor, need to be benched and the more hungry strikers like vela and bendtner brought in..their combination is awesome!walcott should also be in the team then you will see arsenal really hammer teams..coz seriously if we score five, and the other team scores three we win the match!..imagine if it were strikers like drogba or rooney who get have the chances adebayor get!

  36. Toure is weaker in the air, than Gallas, and I believe Gallas should be dropped for a short time, before coming back into the team with Djourou partnering him. This would mean that Gallas became more hungry and actually picked up his man.

    ReplyDelete
  37. couldn't disagree more. Gallas was at fault for the goal at fulham and the corner in the hull match. He should never have let Cousin got into that space. Cousin ran straight across Gallas. It was discraceful defending. I believe there are problems with the Gallas Toure partnership but Gallas should make way because Toure is a better, more physical defender.

I placed a post on this this website recently defending Gallas, but I think he should be dropped for one our two games after his performance against hull.
