How Can Cesc Fabregas Be Barcelona's No1 Target?

There hasn't been many peeps out from the Camp Nou regarding Cesc Fabregas lately but I'm sure there will be over the summer.

I have heard and seen little snippets. Apparently after the Champions League final Carles Puyol said: "I'm convinced Cesc will play with us soon."

It does make me wonder though. Are FC Barcelona really, and I mean really, desperate to get our captain like they say?

By all accounts last summer the bastards put in a bid that wouldn't even have bought Andy Carroll. Bit of a piss-take don't you think? Was it a sick joke?

For all the 'Barcelona DNA' and 'We love Cesc' bollocks Barcelona are, for the second summer in succession, set to announce a major big-money signing before even making a bid for Fabregas.

Last year David Villa signed for the Catalans and this time it is believed that Giuseppe Rossi is set to join the club.

So for the second year running Cesc Fabregas could find himself the 'second-choice' transfer target. Hmmmmm, they really want him don't they?

All Barcelona will do this summer is butter Cesc up and flirt with him, trying to turn his head and wanting him to put in a transfer request.

He isn't their number one target and surely the 'supposed' capture of Rossi should confirm this to him.

Of course on the other hand it shows Barca's ambition by trying to get both players but the truth is they can't afford both at their market price.

Rossi will cost a fortune and so will Cesc but I honestly feel for a second summer running FC Barcelona will leave our skipper hung out to dry.

They will toy with him but will not put in a 'proper' bid. Cesc needs to realise that Barca don't want him as much as they say and knuckle down.

Keep It Goonerish.........

  1. While I agree that they are not as desperate to get Cesc as their public campaign suggests, they can certainly afford him. If reports from the weekend are right they got £120m for winning the CL but I get the impression they will be happy to get Cesc at a cut price deal but will leave him if the price is too high. Villa was their priority last summer and Rossi seems to be this summer.

Cesc should think very carefully before making any public comments this summer.

  2. winning the cl doesn't earn you 120m!

and barca are 400m in the hole!

    they can't afford our cesc.

  3. Barca just got £150m from Qatar for sponsorship. They could afford both players I reckon. But maybe they are waiting for Cesc to run down his contract and get him cheaper or in the end, for free. they dont 'need' him yet while Xavi is king.

  4. I think it was like 110 million for champion league and most of that goes out to players n stuff, not to the club

  5. cesc is a luxury player for barca - but being catalan makes him that much more desirable. barca would ideally like to field 11 world class catalans - and call it their national team

  6. clasping at straws. Barca make an offer that they feel is sufficient. Rather like Arsenal's pathetic bid for Fulham's keeper last summer.

  7. Barcelona don't really need cesc at the moment, especially since they have a brand new talent in thiago coming through who will be a top cm

  8. Another summer of derisory bids then. Barca don't want Cesc because they need him, they want him out of principle——to show that he is their product, that Arsenal was just a stepping stone along the way. They don't not care that Arsene Wenger helped to develop him into a top midfielder. They want him to show that they can get back their players who leave, and that they don't have to pay the player's value. THEY WANT HIM BECAUSE ARSENAL TOOK THE CHANCE THAT THEY WERE UNWILLING TO, AND FEEL AGGRIEVED BY IT. They are both jealous and insulted that Arsenal were able to put complete faith in a rough around the edges player that they had yet to be convinced about, and made him into a star.

  9. At 'Anonumous', Arsenal actually made an appropriate bid and the only reason Schwarzer didnt move to Arsenal was because Fulham couldnt confirm the loan signing of Given in time. Given didnt want to go to fulham, and therefore Schwarzer wasnt allowed to leave.

  10. At the beginning of the season, barca had to take out a 150m euro loan, just to pay their players for this season, the champions league money would simply pay this back, with the quatar money being paid over 5-6 years
in short they cant afford both, if they can even afford 1
I also read that the current president has/is taking teh previous president to court over thier poor handling of the finances and making barca almost bankrupt

  11. all these shananagans from barca should be welcomed by gooners! the more they keep offering low fee for fab the more offended fab will get. he must think do they need rossi? and if so they obv want him over me! otherwise they would offer 50 mill and that would be that. its like they are so convinced they will get cesc that they have forgotten that other teams would pay twice what they would. cesc might just be thinkin screw you 30 million!! if you want me that bad then dont spend 40 mill on rossi who you really need less than me! its a huge insult to the work arsenal have done with fab, but most hurt by this all must be cesc. lets hope barca keep insulting him and his arsenal, its our best chance of keeping him. love guns

  12. Great point you've made.
    Well done
Looking at the England game, that’s the reason I feel Koscielny should be TommyV’s partner next year. Not Djourou. Not a new player. But Kozzer.Just take a look at the extremely big matches, especially at Koscielny’s performances in those games.
Never seen a defender play so well against Messi tbh.

said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the shell to her ear and
screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched
her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know
