I hope Gallas hasn't played his last game for Arsenal!

I've come to the conclusion that amongst Gooners William Gallas is like marmite; You love him or you hate him. I actually love him. Like a brother. And if William Gallas has played his last game for Arsenal then I'd be a gutted man.

I've heard some suggesting that he will be off in the summer. I really hope that isn't the case. I've also heard that he may be out for the rest of the season. I really, really, really hope that isn't the case.

I think Gallas deserves more credit than a pay-as-you-go phone. He has been immense for Arsenal since he was stripped off the captaincy. A true professional. Who'd have thought it? Pundits and the like predicted he would go off the rails. Well he has managed a big fat fuck you to them hasn't he?

In my opinion William Gallas is Arsenal's best defender. Yes, I've said it all before but I'm saying it again. William Gallas is Arsenal's best defender. If it's true that he will be out for the rest of the campaign then it is a huge blow. Gallas brings that calm and experience to the defence that others can't.

Keep it Goonerish..............

I would go one step further: he has been our best player since he lost the captaincy. He has been imperious, Franco Baresi-like, outstanding. I am concerned by his injury.

Messi,

Check through my blog-posts. You will find I've backed Gallas THROUGHOUT his time at Arsenal.

Superb article. I am one of those Arsenal Fans that believes in unconditional support for All our players. It has paid off with William Gallas and it has paid off with Eboue. Personally I am hoping that Bentner finds his purple patch just in time for the business end of the season. If he doesn't he will still have my unconditional support. It is the best position to take. regardless of the changes in direction that any season takes, you never regret anything that you have said or written.
Encouragement beats criticism every day of the week and twice on matchdays.

Gallas has shown real strength of character since being stripped of his captaincy, almost unbelievable because he was humiliated.

Having said that, Toure played remarkably well last night.

I still don't think they make a good partnership though, we need Larsen from Villa, but either Gallas or Toure could partner him, but I'd prefer it to be Gallas.

WRIGHTY U DICK. JUST LIKE GALLAS

i'd rather have him fit but to be honest if there was one position to get injured it would be him as i think djourou is such a good replacement and he complements toure very well.

Spot on Wrighty Gallas is our best defender. Both he and Adebayor do not get the credit they deserve from many fans. Ade scored a belter last night and played his socks off yet he has still gets slated.

I agree that Gallas is doing a lot better than expected, but you can't say he deserves more credit than a pay-as-you-go phone, thats slightly stupid, I would much prefer a pay as you go phone. But Gallas is a good defender.
Then again we still have senderos.

It's well known that Gallas is gone in the summer which is why the likes of Bassong are talking up their chances of playing for Wenger.

I agree Gallas has been good in 2009, but he was shocking during our bad run at the start of the season constantly being found out - just think of the goals against Fulham and Villa etc when he was poor. So good luck to him, its not as big a loss as many believe because our best defender at the club will be Djourou - a man who can actually head a ball and has pace.

Im getting sick of having to agree with you all the time now. Gallas is a great player, a real shame that injury had to come now.

Totally agree Gallas is class.People who say Kolo is better are mad.Granted Kolo has a bigger Arse and has the turning radius of an oil tanker.JD lacks composure and strength.I would rather see Kolo leave than Gallas, sadly itseems that Kolo will stay and Gallas will be off.

Anon, why have a go at Kolo? No need. I like Kolo, he shows alot of passion for our club.

Why have a go? Fckwit.

Agreed, Gallas is better than Kolo. Gallas is calm and collective while Kolo looks panicky.

Joppa I pointe out Kolos faults because passion is not enough.I have passion for Arsenal but I am not good enough to play for the club.I would take Gallas over Kolo every time.

I like Gallas and Toure, but neither are tall enough. We need taller CD's to prevent our set piece weakness in defence and to give us some potency at set pieces in attack.

True he has been good for us since the captaincy was stripped, but I still think he is a liability. Djourou is ready I think and will more than deputise, also I think that Kolo will reap the benefits of Gallas no longer being in the team. I have to say, for the record, I dont like Gallas, never have and I didn't want him via the Asley Cock deal but as long as he wears an Arsenal shirt he should be supported, but now hopefully I wont see him in one again.

I'd say Sagna's actually our best defender but I agree with most of the article. Gallas is a great player and our best central defender; luckily Toure's been playing well for the last couple of months (even better than Gallas IMO) and although Djourou hasn't played for quite a long time he played well when he came on against Villareal, although I do worry about him because he's inexperienced and we'll be playing Villareal, Liverpool and Chelsea in three of our next four games so it's not a good time for him to be thrown into the team.
