Łukasz Fabiański is no calamity keeper

Don't get me wrong Fabiański fucked up against Chelsea. But to get on his back would be a big mistake. He needs our support.

I agree with Arsene Wenger, the lad could become one of the best keepers in the world. What happened to him on Saturday could have happened to anyone.

Every keeper makes mistakes. Even the greats. Whats important is that he learns from the situation and uses it to his advantage.

Keep it Goonerish...........

Christ Wrighty, they werent little mistakes though were they!

You would have thought Fabianksi learnt his lesson early on in the match where he came rushing out but to do exactly the same thing again...

His decision making is woeful although he is quite a good shot stopper.

Still not convinced though.

You've got this one wrong mate!

Fabianski is pretty poor at decision making, a trait I have noticed in a lot of his performances for the first team. He either lacks confidence in the players in front of him, or he hasn't been taught not to go rushing out whenever the ball gets near the area. Not good enough.

wrighty you been drinking again,he's a terrible keeper...nuh linga

I agree 100% Wrighty. I think Woocash is class and will be a great keeper. It was a game too far for him on Saturday that's all. He wasn't helped by awful defending from Eboue for the first goal and Silvestre for the second

he'll get some more matches in the first team during the next two weeks, until almunia returns. im not quite sure about his ability now, but he has some potential. anyways he cant afford anymore mistakes..

any news about eduardo? ready for tomorrow night?

rvp and ade out, that sucks..

Almunia is back for saturday..2 big boo, boo's for Fabianskizzle tho' but he aint a bad keeper. Could be worse, we could have paul the pieman as our keeper...

Listen to yourselves.

Class? Best?

On that dreadful day when we got humped at WHL last season, the scum only had 5 shots on target.

Think about that for a second before you start talking about how good he "might" be.

Standards at Arsenal have slipped so much. Fabianski is a poor, poor goalkeeper and people are actually defending him.

WWhat a joke club we are...

The first goal, yea shouldn't have got beaten at his near post, but with the second, coming out of goal was his best option as Drogba had done Silvestre and would have been one on one anyway and it was only slightly mistimed. Though the first time he came out was stupid but again Drogba probably would have been in on goal if he didn't. Being quick off his line is a good thing and his timing for this will improve so i think he will become an exceptional keeper. I'd also argue Silvestre had a worse game but keepers mistakes are far easier to criticize.

'a terrible keeper'
every arsenal fan was loving him against the yellow submarine because of his anticipation and sweeping up on many occassions. Granted he didn't play well but there's more to come from him. I hate these fickle fans!!!!

i agree wrighty... hes done well in previous games and was superb against villareal....

he made a couple of cockups but eboue didnt help him for the 1st and silvestre didnt help him for the 2nd... even if he would of stayed on his line... drogba had silvestre beat and kolo wasnt anywhere.... it would of been a one on one with drogba and still a goal....

give him time gooners he will make it.... think of the double saves he made against villareal.... he can do it he just had a bad game.... but what player didnt apart from theo and gibbs....

the blame for saturday should lie with wengers lineup.... not fabianksi....

Abysmal decision making, lets get it right even with Wengers woeful team selection Fabianski cost us the match. You think he would have learnt ealry on when he rushed out and almost cost us a goal. Almunia barely cuts the mustard and at the moment Fabianski is far below Almunia, that says all it needs to about our transfer policy of late.

the mistake was not signing a 35 year old back up to fabianskiat christmas just incase,he basically pulled out of the challenge on drogba at the last seconds just to prevent a red card so we wouldnt have a 17 year old in goal until almunia is fit or until the 3 games suspension ended! he had a shyt game, but seaman had a few as well, remember gazza? and nayim? and remember lehmans mistakes? he can redeem himself in the long run, just like others before himself!

he also rushed out and nutted that geezer in the face against wigan , thats two goal line clearances in 2 games for gibbs, identical as well

lets be smart here fellow gooners!
we can bemoan him on every blog and talk shit about him to our mates, but when matchday comes we MUST give him our full support.. We are stuck with this guy for at least one more match, and dont think for one second that he'll preform if we boo him! we all saw eboue after so called arsenal supporters slated him at the grove, lets not make that silly mistake again...

spot on wrighty. Fabi will prove his doubters wrong. he is a good keeper who is trying too hard to impress. he has never played consistently at this level before. Poland is not the same. he is now learning. He is a very young keeper and at some point, young keepers need to learn. they need to learn to keep their nerves and make right decisions. at this level decision making is more important than pure talent. Fabi is way more talented than Almunia but Manuels experience means he is still the better choice for first choice. Fabi will get there.

I think ur right on this one.
I wouldnt say it was one mistake, he looked a bit overwhelmed in this game.
Almunia used to looked overwhelmed on many occassions but he got over it.
And almunia is a really good shot stopper, and probably one of the top 3 keepers in the league, but thats due to lack of competition. Hes generally a really good consistent keeper.
Fabianski has far more talent IMO. He seems to have the shot stopping abilities, plus hes excellent from crosses. Hes usually good at coming out, but as I say, the occassion got to him.
Back him in the next games, hel pay us back long-term

can't believe the amount of flak fabianski is receiving. he is 24 ffs, that is like 15 in goalkeeper years. yes he is partly to blame for the two goals but that is due to his inexperience and not his abilities. eboue and silvestre are just as much to be blamed for the goals because it's their slack defending that let in malouda and drogba. i happen to like the fact that he's comes off his line to sweep up - he just needs experience so he knows when to stay on his line. now please stfu and get behind him so he can regain his confidence and reach his potential - which he has in spades.

watch the wigan game and see fabianski come out and gibbs having to save him pre chelsea

Wrighty you are right, Fab 2 isn't a calamity keeper, He is our number 2 and every game he has played were with different defensive line ups.

This makes all the Almunia lovers think they know best but Drogshit punished him even more for staying on the line.

How anyone can say Almunia is top 3 in our League is beyond me, at best he is probably about 12th.

I hate to say I told you so but pre season I was shouting out for us to buy a keeper as priority.

A good keeper with Fab 2 as back up would have given us a better chance IMHO.

Leave Fab 2 alone though guys because at least he isn't shit at 31 years of age.

The state of the pitch was also a factor. Against the yellow submarines, he could sweep everything up as the ball travel faster when it hit the ground. Playing the disgraceful Wembley pitch is a different ball game. The ball bounces slower and straight up. It then boils down to experience how to deal with this type of situation.
The first goal was a combination of poor defending and goalkeeping. The ball was shot under Eboue's feet. Very difficult for the keeper, as he sees it very late.
Overall, Fabiansky is a good keeper. One match does not change everything.
