Sign. Him. Up.

Despite all the bad news coming out of the Emirates recently regarding injuries, and the numbers amount to a whole side, there has been some good news also.

Several players have signed new contracts at the club, the latest being Eduardo. Now forgive me if I'm wrong but I'm sure that I read somewhere that Eduardo was disillusioned at Arsenal because we were hesitating to offer him a new long-term deal. This was Sunday. What happened today then? Someones 'sources' were wrong. As usual.

It's a healthy sign to see players like Eduardo and Vela signing new long-term deals at the Arsenal but there is one other player I hope we can persuade to sign a deal as well. William Gallas.

Gallas' current contract expires next summer. This means he can walk away from Arsenal for nothing at the end of his deal and he can talk to clubs from January about discussing a contract with them. I really hope that this doesn't happen.

Over the years we have lost players this way and every time it has been very frustrating to see. If Gallas runs down his contract and leaves then surely Arsene Wenger and Arsenal must begin to question the way they handle negotiations in the future.

We cannot allow Gallas to leave the way Edu and Mathieu Flamini did because it means we haven't learnt from previous lessons in the past. Personally I think that letting players get into the final year of their contracts is criminal. It gives the player the power simply because of the Bosman ruling.

Regardless of this, the reason I want Gallas to sign a new deal is not to prove that Arsenal have learnt their lessons from the past but because I rate Gallas as one of the best defenders in the world and I believe that Arsenal are stronger with him than without him.

He may not be everyone's cup of tea but he is some player. People have questioned his mentality in the past, well I believe he has answered his critics in the best way. By performing on the pitch.

Since being stripped of the captaincy Gallas has been the ultimate professional and I reckon that he deserves a huge amount of credit for that. Many said he would spit his dummy out and throw his toys out of his pram, well he has shut those people up!

We are seeing the best of Gallas now. This new look Arsenal side and the partnership he has created with Vermaelen has revitalised him. I hope we can get him to sign a new deal and in the future start negotiating new contracts with players a little earlier than in their last year!

Keep it Goonerish.........................

what about Tomas Rosicky?

Think its certain Gallas will leave for a final pay-day in the summer. And Rosicky will probably go too to allow Wenger the chance to incorporate Wilshere next season.

I would love to see both Gallas and Rosicky stay. Both are world class players, they have the experiences that the younger players don't have yet, and their winning mentally is something our younger players can learn a lot from.

@gt couldn't agree more i dont like how quite things are on the arsenal front or even the media front concerning Rosicky. It spells bad news if you ask me. It'll be ashame to lose him his experience is intricate to the teams success

cant say it more simpler than this if we let rosicky and gallas leave two of probably our most best experienced players our 2010 season will start like the 2008 season no experience

Gallas will leave.

Rosicky should stay and play for free or pay us back the sh!t load of wages he's taken for doing f' all for the last 2 years.

rosicky has just been unfortunate. any true arsenal supporter wouldn't trash the man

Im not trashing Rosicky. He earnt some where in the region of £5m in in the time he was injured. If you want me to give him sympathy then you havent experienced much in life.

This is not the time to let Gallas go. I believe Arsene Wenger would want to have him stay. Arsenal cannot afford to disrupt the fine combination between Gallas and Vermaelen at the back, now that the season is in mid-stream. A two yr contract maybe will hold him back. I hope Rosicky will be extended too. He is a very skilful and a team player. It is unfortunate that he had been injured for such a long period.

Both Gallas and Rosicky should stay in Arsenal.

Is Wilshere going to grow another inch or not ? yes he can fill Rosicky's boots and Merida. We need space on the bench .

For the good of our youth policy Rosicky has to go unless he wants to stay on the bench which I doubt

As for defenders, Gallas who scored the winner for France in World Cup qualif, we don't have any backups ATM, so he's staying

I WANT MERIDA TO SIGN.

So yeah, Wrighty I agree Arsenal shouldn't wait untill the clock strikes 12.

Galas should be offered a new contract in Januari. So far this season he earned massive credits in my book.

And Sickynote, well he's good at the moment but not fantastic. We expect RvP, Cesc, Eboue, etc. to be at their best. What can we expect of him? That he is ready when the World Cup begins?

I don't want my club to function as a treatment resort for Internationals.

How many times has RvP come back from Holland games broken and bruised?

I am confused actually. so many players coming through yet none of them centre back good enough to replace Gallas.
I am not really bothered if Gallas leaves 'cos I feel we need someone with height not necessarily a monster tall chap but reasonable presence.
Not sure, but I think I read on the arsenal official website that Merida signed a contract in 2008?

Rosicky´s agent toled to Czech press that he is in negotiations with Arsenal about two or three years extension to the current contract..

What we don't know is whether Gallas is playing so well because he wants another contract at Arsenal, or b/c he wants a bigger payday and job security elsewhere. Or b/c he's a model professional enjoying his partnerships with the Verminator, life in London, or whatever. If he gets the contract at Arsenal, what if his form dips because he's not so motivated? Then Wrighty you will have been had and we'll be praying Djourou steps it up a level. Leave it with Wenger.

I think Gallas is probably going to leave, if he wants to play in italy or Spain, this will be his last chance. He's a good player, but not irreplaceable, I'd be happy with another solid centre half around Vermaelen's age, so a long term partnership can be formed.

I hope Rosicky does get a new deal, he's been impressive when he has played. he can also play all across midfield which is handy with our injury record. If he doesn't make at least 20 appearances this season I doubt he'll be staying.

Gallas will probably move on at end of season to try his luck in Spain/Italy or go back to France and thats fair enough, its what he's always wanted to do. Couldn't see him lasting much more than 2 years in Premiership at a decent level. Next season we look even thinner at cb with Vermaelen, Djourou and maybe Nordvelt here, so good news is Wenger will probably invest, providing we can find someone decent.

rosicky is also cesc's best friend in the team. another reason to keep him.

we should keep gallas, his playing really well, and scoring goals, contributing as ateam player. plus he proved the media wrong.

and by the way. the henry situation, we have seen gerrard and rooney blatenley cheat before our eyes. why can they get away with it so easy. i dont agree with wot henry did, but i believe it was instinctive. hes not really done anything in the past. a player thats foreign maybe black wil get worse treatment than everyone else especilly black.
