It's time to get behind the Arsenal, our Arsenal.

There will many disappointed Gooners out there tonight. Disappointed because we haven't made any signings today or since Thomas Vermaelen arrived at the club. I can understand your frustrations. I would have loved Arsene Wenger to make a couple of signings too. But he hasn't. And I'm not that disappointed to honest.

I'm in the belief that we can achieve great things this campaign. I feel really positive, have done all summer, and despite the defeat to Manchester United, the start we have made to the season has given me even more reason to be so optimistic.

There is nothing anyone of us can do now. The dead-line is over and what we have is a very hungry squad eager to prove that everyone who wrote us off is wrong. There seems a togetherness amongst this group of players and they need to prove that Wenger's faith in them will not be unfounded.

This squad has grown together and despite the departures of Adebayor and Toure I actually feel we are stronger than we have been for a long time. As much as I loved Kolo Toure, Thomas Vermaelen has impressed me so far and in my opinion is an improvement on what Toure had to offer. They say success begins at the back, well for me, Gallas and Vermaelen have gelled very quickly and we have a much more solid look about us now.

Our new formation is serving us well. We press higher up the pitch and don't allow the opposition anytime on the ball. The 4-3-3 also allows our forward players to be more fluid and not so stagnant. They inter-change more freely and this is proved by the amount of goals we have scored. Yes, Adebayor scored goals for us, yes he was a plan B, but the goals are now shared throughout the team and this can only be a good thing.

Of course there is always the slight worry that we will suffer injuries to the team and the squad will fall short. My advice? Take a look at the Arsenal squad on Arsenal's web-site and there is plenty of quantity and more importantly, quality.

I really believe this is our year. Every summer we are written off and that surely will motivate this squad of players. There can be no more excuses. We cannot keep saying we are developing. And I reckon that time has finally come.

We can no longer be bullied, we have a hungry set of players, we have the best manager in the world, we have one of the best stadiums and we have fantastic support. Let's get behind this Arsenal team and I'm sure that we will be rewarded.

Keep it Goonerish..................

So what you gonna say wrighty when we dominate the game against man city and end up being the losing team.Plus the injury's we have now got is a joke

Jay Z,

I assume you are using the United game as a reference to the City game mate.

There was a mixture of poor refereeing and us beating ourselves in that game.

They were given a soft penalty, we were harshly given more yellow cards than them and how often will one of our own score an own goal like that again???

I'm confident.

I was more disappointed with last seasons window

jay z ^ you totally contradicted the point of this blog

well said wrighty, we have quality and quantity. vela, wilshere, ramsey, merida etc are back ups to our back ups if you like, so that only bodes well. we embarrassed united at times on saturday, resulting in a team of uniteds prestige to resort to kicking us.

what a start to the season weve had, regardless of the result against man united.

keep the faith boys, and we will be rewarded :)

i agree wrighty..... everyone is against us ! did you see the thing on amazon selling the chant of "Pedo sit down " i was disgusted .... everyone should write a complaint... then there is du du situation.... i think all these negative press is actually a good thing for gooners as for long time we seemed to be all over the palce but with all the bad we are starting to knot like the gunners are......

to anyone who thinks we dont have quality in the squad your mad... i watch every reserve and u18's game and we have some gems comign through...ok we sell allot of the first team stars but it means we pay of the stadium quicker and dominate for 10 years like man utd did rather than possibly spend, dominate but still owe masses to the bank (and i hate them!)

for anyone who thinks us buying was needed well there is a list of players who will get more game time for starters ....

Jack W
Gibbs
Troure
Merida

and a whole host waiting

Lansbury (is brilliant!)
Bartley
Conqualin
Afobe
ayling
and so on.....

remember these kids annilated allot of prem and championship teams over the years so i rather them start playing than us buy more french prospsects and work with these guys

i am excited for the future !

good evening wrighty , i agree with u 100% , olso believe this is our season too , lets just get behind the team and no more booing them of the pitch
that would only give the spuds more confidence.

No one is a cunt Jay Z. Lets just get behind the team now because there is nothing we can do and it won't help to get on the squads backs.

(not that I'm saying you are doing that!)

ideally i think we should've bought a gk, cb and dm!

this season's squad looks stronger than last season's imo. we need song injury-free.

i think wenger's plan is to buy in january. some new faces to help us get through the business-end of the season.

I'm not sure the new formation is working all that great to be honest. Ok, we start matches with a high line and everyone defending from the front but I dont think the squad is fit enough to keep up with the work rate all season. Maybe it had something to do with the mental blow of conceding two poor goals, but our midfielders seemed like they were running outta gas after the hour mark. I also noticed arsene wenger's reluctance to put ramsey and wilshere in even though arshavin and denilson were clearly tired. All I'm saying is, if we keep picking up injuries like we have the past few years, I'm not sure our new formation is actually suitable for our squad.

I agree our new centre back partnership have looked outstanding but every great defence has a great keeper. He should have spent real money on a world class keeper. One who knows when to come off his line & when to stay on it. Alumunia has never mastered that skill & by Sat's evidence it doesn't look like he ever will.

we have improved a lot but we needed that guy who could they the game by the scruff of the neck,Arshavin when not injured i hope will be that player.Wengers rationale is,we faced the biggest test on saturaday and failed so why should we pull out all the stops when we could easily win a lot of games with the current squad,if we need it he could pull some transfers in january.

who said we didn'y sign anyone compared to last years squad we have 2 new srikers(dudu and arsha) 2 new centre halfs(senderos and the verminator) a new midfielder tomas rosicky plus all the other players have matured a whole year including nasry van persie denilson diaby walcott and certinally song this season's squad is by far our best in years

Excellent!!!

I heard a joke about a miserable husband who asked his wife to make him two eggs, one scrambled and one boiled. When his wife brought the eggs he started shaking his head and said "i knew it, you fried the wrong egg".

This is how some Arsenal fans are, just blasted complain all the time! look how many goals we have scored but the new system is not working.

No lie, i wish these people would support another team at times, this is just unhealthy.

To tell you the truth we dont need any new signings we are a very deep team that is fulll of quality as wrighty has said. As for the moaners, please dont celebrate when we win the PL!

I don't think we have enough backup. Look at the bench, they are kids only. You can say the kids are full of potential, but they do not have the necessary ability to change a game especially when we are behind. We need developed players with strong mental strength.

Take the example of the Manchester game, the performance of Ramsey is just not good enough when he was called up to replace Arshavin at that crucial moment. Think about it, who can save us in a game like this? In the past, we have Viera, Pires, Henry to take the lead ... but now...

When our key creative players like Cesc,Nasri and Rosicky get injuried, we've only got physical players left in the midfield, our game became bored and lacked the cutting edge.

I know we have to get behind the team and keep the faith, but i just a little bit nervous. Everton and Portsmouth, the team we beat, are at the bottom of the table after all. Please beat City to prove I'm wrong.

100% agree.
gallas and vermaelen, they're doing great combination at the back and i sort of feel good that AW didn't buy anyone because we have player in reserve who got quality. They're young but they've got enough experience imo.
this season we'll be challenging the title...in Arsene we trust
Go ARSENAL!!!

Wenger makes his points with such acuity and delivers them in a tone at once bristling with righteous indignation and yet in a controlled, rational way. At one point Wenger asks how the rules have been changed for this one case, where previously we have been told that a referee’s word is final if he has made a judgment during the game. He goes on to take this to its logical conclusion by introducing the reductio ad absurdum that, from now on, Arsenal will be bringing complaints to UEFA at every possible opportunity. The point being that if Arsenal does it, so will everyone else.

He then turns on the media and tells them that they have a responsibility here too. How come Eduardo is singled out and not any of those brave yeoman who have worn the Three Lions and, ahem, perhaps sometimes tripped as a result of the ineluctable force of gravity alone? Cue the sound of anxious shuffling in seats and no doubt more than a little hand-wringing and eye-contact avoidance with him from the guilty scribblers, rather in the manner of a group of 11 year olds who have been caught smoking behind the bike sheds. “And it is I who am one–eyed, is it?” is the inference he invites all and sundry to draw. Needless to say, tumbleweed rolls past at this point as the gathered great and the good, or rather average and the less so, of the media sit in admonished silence awaiting the ground opening up before them.

The man has surely now given us our cue. It’s about time we started backing the man, the team and the club with a bit more guts. Let’s start getting behind or team at home. Away from home, and no doubt today will be a prime example, our most loyal supporters never go missing and always back the team from the terraces. At home sometimes it’s all a little bit like a night at the opera with too many coming to watch rather than be part of the experience.

Secondly, let’s understand just how powerful a collective voice we have and stop being quite so supine in our attitude towards the establishment and media imbalance towards us. When we see read and hear patent nonsense or just honest to goodness entrenched partiality from the likes of the Platini and Blatter or the impotent governing bodies which report to them rather than the football public; the Hansens and the Lawrensons; Hairy Handed Monkey Boy Keys and the Redknapps (both of them); as well as the usual poorly written and argued trash from the newspapers, we can act. Write and mail to editors to let them know. It is no longer acceptable to apply rules unilaterally and without prejudiuce nor to report accordingly. M. Wenger has had enough. So have I. How about you?
