My last two posts have undoubtedly been emotional. It's been over 48 hours since the horrific injury to Aaron Ramsey and despite that fact I still feel the same way.
I'm still seething.
Despite the anger I have overlooked an important fact in this whole situation and I believe it needs to be addressed.
When Ramsey went down injured any player within the vicinity of him looked repulsed, traumatised and obviously shocked.
One man reacted quicker than anybody else and I have to applaud him. Stoke City's Glen Whelan.
That man ran to Ramsey and comforted him. His quick thinking helped Aaron in his time of need.
Not only did Whelan provide our Welshman with comfort, he kept him still and prevented Ramsey from seeing his leg which could have panicked him further.
It was nice to see from a player who was on the opposition.
Glen Whelan is someone who doesn't have a bad bone in his body and I think that credit's due where credit is due.
Well done that man.
Keep it Goonerish...............

Nicely put. Glen Whelan, good guy.
well said wrighty
spot on as usual
well said i thought he was really great about the injury i missed the bit after the challenge and only saw vermaeleen sat down i thought straight back to billy gallas 2 years ago! but well showed good strength mentally in the end :D but back to the point Glenn Whelan is the one stoke player i actually have an ounce of respect for after that match! and tuncay why is he among those complete scum?
was just thinking that he hadnt had enough credit for staying with aaron. some credit also to eboue and bendtner for being there too
Whelan was the ONLY player actually taking care of Aaron. Bendtner was in and out of the picture...understandably given the magnitude of what happened. Eboue went to see AR as well.
Major hats off to Whelan. If you see some of the pictures... not only is he preventing him from seeing his leg but actually holding his head...im guessing to see if we goes into convulsions or has a fit of some sort.
Nevertheless, I think that Arsenal... and Wenger needs to recognize this and make mention of it somewhere... It would do him and the club and fans a lot of good to also see when good happens...we recognize that too.
glen whelan was right next to him when it happened and it was the right thing to do! but i think your giving him a little TOO much credit!! if youve read the interview with whelan, he was showing off about how he was helping aaron which just shows he was doing it for the attention rathen than him actually caring! plus also in his interview, he said arsene should APOLOGIZE to shitcross!! that made me even more sick! still credit to whelan for helping aaron regardless of his motives, i still hate him n all stoke for that matter!
i want to end this with a question thou to wrighty and to any others wanting to answer....
without the injury to ramsey, i really dont blve we would have won, and odds are we wouldnt have! a draw against stoke would have nicely ruled us out of the league as we would have been 5 points away which i think is a tad too much given how the draw would have hurt our confidence! the inury to ramsey however sparked something into the team in that match and hopefully will continue to spark throughout the season which will hopefully bring us the league...so my question is....would you take ramseys inury along with the league, or would you rather have neither?...just a thought...curious about your reply
faisal,,what a stupid last half of your post
Yeah, Fair do's to Whelan, he helped Ramsey, but who's to say he did not do so, because he felt guilty, he knew what was said in the pre-match chat, they can't all be cunts can they?
faisal, what a stupid first half of your post also, too think that glen whelan sized up the situation for his own benefit is beyond belief, your a moron
Excellent post, I was thinking exactly the same thing when I saw the horrific injury to AR. Glen Whelan's instincts were spot on - he chose to see to it that Ramsey was supported in the greatest time of need - credit most definitely due!
It was a good performance bar the first 20 minutes but after the injury to Ramsey the game was dead. Stoke were not committing any real attempt to tackle and I believe that helped us to refocus on the task at hand. I believe we would have won anyway though, but I feel the injury actually made it easier in some ways.
Which universe do these pundits exist on? Do they even understand English?

Listen to you all . No it was a 50/50 challenge - those of you who actually play the game might understand that fact. Ramsey does win the ball but both players were committed. Stop hammering Shawcross - he is actually trying to strike through the ball with his laces as pictures show. Typical football supporters who scream and shout about how unfair it is. Yes it is hard, I snapped 2 x knee ligaments in a 50/50 challenge that ended my playing career at the age of 23 but it was 50/50 and sadly these things happen - its a contact game and we all often forget that. I wish Ramsey all the best and I hope he makes a full recovery and goes onto to play again. I also wish Shawcross all the best and that he can overcome the demons that will be inside his head, his England call up is fully justified.
i dont think there was paticular malice towards ramsay, he didnt mean to break his leg, but he did mean to go in hard for a ball he knew he wouldnt get. and he has previous for careless tackling. jeffers and asebayor. its probably why united got rid of him, too much of a liability. fits in quite well at stoke though.

yes i am a moron for thinking that people do things for their own benifits these days! to think that we live in a world where everyone thinks of each other and not of themselves, and to have someone like myself saying otherwise...i must be a moron!
back to reality you prick! do you not think that footballers KNOW that they are being watched by millions all across the world?!?
do you not think that they do things to make themselves seem like angels sometimes to gain some fans and recognition from the media?! ignorant prick!
Faisal you're a real fuckhead mate.
There's no way he was thinking of anything but the situation at hand, in that there was a young lad lying shocked and in pain with a shattered leg, and he did what he could to help.
Total respect for Glen Whelan and none whatsoever for you, cocksucker.
Anyone who would suggest it's a good thing because now we might win the league, is scum.
Faisal what a prick you are. Are you for real. A young guy is lying there leg shattered and you think G Whelan is thinking "How can I look good in all this?" You are a cock.
What alot of people are forgetting is that IMO Arsenal out battled Stoke. Taking the Ramsey injury out we were immense. It bodes well for the rest of the season.
I give up with the media now, it is clear they have their own agenda but we can shove it all back down their throats come May.
Listening to Collymore tonight on TalkSport saying Arsenal don't have the physical presence to win the EPL. Was he watching the game on Sat? We were first in to the majority of tackles etc.
Wrighty credit is also due to Gael Clichy - he has taken some stick recently (justified) but how good was he on Sat, excellent performance.
Another video of Saint Shawcross maiming a player during his loan spell at Royal Antwerp (Belgium).

So our belief and faith in the decency of footballers has fallen so far that we are now praising someone for doing what any normal, non-steroid filled human being would do. Let's not start giving praise for praise sake....
Adam and Joppa Road....
This is televised!!! EVERY EFFING PLAYER KNOWS THAT THEYRE EVERY MOVE DURING A MATCH IS BEING WATCHED!!!!
if your beloved whelan did it out of nothing but sincerity then he wouldnt go bragging about it in the press now would he?!?!!
the naivity of some of you lot amazes me sometimes!
plus i do give credit to whelan for what he's done, but thats for the action and not the motive! and the latter is what im doubting!
bunch of retards!
faisal your one chilli short of a kebab! pop over to harryhotspur, we could have some real fun with you on there.
your one proper funny guy sunbeam
