Robin van Persie Owes Arsenal

If Robin van Persie doesn't sign a new contract at Arsenal in the next few months, the rumours that he is leaving will be off the Richter Scale.

Any theory that made Dinosaurs extinct will have nothing on this.

Robin's reluctance to agree to a new deal is apparently linked to what Arsene Wenger does in the January transfer window.

I can understand him wanting to see Arsenal ambitions in the transfer-market before he commits his long-term future to us but he owes Arsenal.

He has been at the club since 2004 and I can count on one hand the amount of appearances he has made.

I suppose it is not van Persie's fault that his body is made of glass but it's fair to say he has spent a huge amount of time in the treatment room being put back together.

We've stuck by him through every tear, break and reconfiguration of his body parts and I think the least he could do is repay back the club by signing a new deal.

If Robin signs a new contract it will be a huge boost for the club amid all the negativity being thrown at us in recent times.

Not only that it gives Arsenal the added protection of knowing we will get a decent transfer fee if he decided to leave in the future.

It's clear that Robin loves Arsenal, and even clearer that Gooners love him too.

He is our best player by miles.

If he left then I really believe I will lose the plot and end up dribbling in the corner of my room whilst sucking my thumb singing and clapping to 'Robin van Persie, clap, clap etc'.

I owe my Dad a fiver but our new skipper owes it to Arsenal to sign a new deal.

Most clubs wouldn't give a player his own treatment-table or as many chances as we have given to van Persie.

Wenger has turned him into a genuine world-class player (when fit) and that faith in him should be returned back to the club by him showing his faith in Arsenal.

Keep It Goonerish......

Totally agree there. I think he'll sign, you cant blame him for wanting to wait until January.

He won't sign, he'll leave. He isn't fucking stupid. With Wenger and the dumb board in charge this club is going down the pan, put yourself in his shoes, last big contract - why stay at a club on the slide?

Anonymous said...

Couldn't give a toss if he stays or goes. We have looked toothless since he has been fit and playing.

Great player but we need a striker in front of him. Would take Teves for him and sign a proper striker. Maybe then the goals will return.

My man, those ''...owes Arsenal'' lines have been too overused. Should someone leave his neck near the noose when it's clear that it's tightening by the day yet he can save it? All those stars we made, from TH14, Vieira, Adebayor (God forbid that i name him amongst the elite lot here), right to the Fab4 & Samir Nasri owe(d) Arsenal one way or the other, some left in honor while others didn't...all the same, they had to go.

Let RVP make his choices independent of what people think he owes the club or not, i believe his contracts demand that he be treated when injured, & he plays WHEN fit. Both sides have fulfilled their requirement i believe, as i haven't heard one suing the other.

i hate this fucking cheap owner we have he has no ambition only happy to full his pocket with money...what the sense of having billions if you are going to die leaving it anyways

Fabregas was told that we would be signing "super, super quality players" and he signed a long contract. He was lied to. Nasri was told the same thing and he told Wenger to sign those players and then he would sign, having learned from Cesc's mistake. Of course, the summer passed and ....NOTHING.
Van Persie does not strike me as an idiot and will obviously leave as soon as he can. The only thing that will keep him at Arsenal is injury, because then only Arsenal will offer him a big long-term contract (see Rosicky for example). The good ship Arsenal is holed below the water line and as the ship sinks I can see Wrighty7 calling out "Arsene is a genius, Arsene is a genius Arsene is a glug, glug glug.... - Ramgun

Eli – Nes-Ziona
The issue is not if RVP would leave the club, The issue is how the club management is handling his squad as a whole united team , If the team would function and play as a reliable functioning engine then RVP could stay or leave without any significant effect.
With all the respect to RVP, any player is never bigger than his club.
We need to put all our forces and reassures together in order to climb back up, if not, any single star and no matter who he would be will not assist us to return back to our "normal" place.
We have to think positive and act accordingly. Let us give some credit to our manger and let him to rebuild the team. We should remember that the club has reached most of his happy remarkable moments under his service.
At the end of the day Arsenal needs a deep and thorough reshuffle process, a single player even it is RVP would not be able to bear it by his own.

Jekyll said...

C'mon get real. The reason we've had RVP this long is due to his injuries. If this summmer has taught us anything is that's we've a tunnel visioned manager who does not let anything get in the way of his 'vision' - certainly not the facts. I'm sure RVP does feel a lot of attachment to Arsenal but this manager is never, ever going to make the investment that's required to keep him, nor is the board. Mediocrity or worse will continue for the foreseeable future - those guys running the club are making a lot of money and will ride that gravy train as long as they can. This includes Wenger.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, so did Vieira, Henry, Cesc, Nasri, etc. etc. Wrighty why haven't you learned anything?

Anonymous said...

shut the fuck up with ur "HE OWES TO ARSENAL" bullshit. just because he has been here for such a long period of time and has been injured for good amount of time, doesn't mean AT ALL that he is bound to sign a contact. World class players want to play for the best teams, not some shitty team like ours.

Anonymous said...

Van persie should not be our main striker. V left footed, very little pace for a striker and doesnt attack crosses with his head. He is quality but better suited as second striker.

i love RVP but the sad truth is that Wenger and the board have sold off his entire generation. They reneged on their promise to him to stay ambitious, and he is well within his rights to walk away.

RVPs generation has been badly let down by the club. An entire squad of decent players all of the same age now scattered across europe, sent away by the club before they had a chance to hit their peak as a team.

He will do an Henry and move to Spain before his career expires. He'll win a couple of trophies and then pack it in.

Dubai Gooner said...

All of you have respect to the guy writing. He gave his all to Arsenal so he knows what he is talking about. RVP needs to also remember the good times are sometimes followed by the bad. It's the measure of your personality how you get through the tough patch. Whole world is going through one right now. Real Arsenal fans endure. No matter what. Go Wrighty! Always remember your goals and celebrations!

Anonymous said...

I see many anonymous A holes talking about Henry. You all wish he was still there. Hold your tongues!

Kooner said...

I agree. All who have a gripe about Arsenal go cry in a corner. This club was established by men. Arsene will come through with our team, and will add as he is not stupid. Support or get a drink a bugger off.

Man, I think Anonymous above said it best...

Anonymous said...

Err...Dubai Gunner @ 20.08, The writer isn't Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, you know? It sounds like you thought so there. Lol!.

Anonymous said...

I want players that want to take the challenges of returning Arsenal to a trophy winning club, not players that want to join clubs already there. Either he's that kind of player or he's not. Csec wasn't, Nasri sure as hell wasn't, but I think RVP is and I hope that's the case.

Sad truth is we are no more than a Valencia or athletico Madrid level club. We had going to have to get used to our best players being cherry picked by europes truly elite and super wealthy clubs. The only way this will stop is if we and by we I mean wenger and the board give up on self sustainability as it is strangling this club to death, after all where's the point being the only club left after the financial apocalypse. Although when arsenal is the only football club not bankrupt and defunct we will win the league every season and wenger can say I told you so. But for the next 10,000 years we will have to put up with mediocrity. :(
