I Think This One May End Up A Little Bit Special

Marouane Chamakh is not a house-hold name. In fact he is barely known in most places.

He is known in France, and in the Shockwaves wet-look gel section at the supermarket, but probably most people would pass him in the street and not take a second glance.

He isn't a superstar and he didn't cost a penny.

Sometimes I wish he did cost some money though because I guarantee there wouldn't be as many Gooners out there having a quiet moan about Wenger not spending any then.

I think that if we had spent £15m on signing Chamakh people would be more optimistic about our chances this season.

It seems because we didn't spend anything on him the signing 'doesn't count' and because he was a free transfer it means Arsenal are going to be shit this season.

He came on a Bosman so a lot of people are already forgetting about Marouane coming to the club. I think that's good. Less pressure on him then. It will give him time to adapt to England.

And I think when he adapts he will become a special player. He has all the attributes to wreck the joint with our club. Become a folk-hero with the fans.

I reckon he will be the surprise of the season. Already I like him. Not because of a penalty in some pre-season friendly but because he has real quality and he has real quality whilst wearing an Arsenal shirt.

Keep it Goonerish........

Oh yeah, he will be a top, top player for us. Great capture from AW

I thought you'd be talking about Wiltshire.

Oh and btw, Koscielny also looked composed at the back, although its too early to tell if hes the quality we want at arsenal.

such wisdom from 45 minutes against a third div side. fantastic

Wilshire just needs to get some game time - the boy is ready - that ball to walcott of the top was sublime.

I like Chamakh his movement is good and he is a big unit which is what we have missed.

I would like 3 more players though keeper centre half and combative mid - song gets injured what then?

Koscielny looks a bit slight - will look at him on weekend and see how he does.

As for barca - will for forever hate them now regardless of how they play the game. classless.

why are you optimistic? don't get me wrong, i think that especially since he came on a free it's a good 'buy' but apart from some bordeaux games i've seen i can't judge him. can you or is it just the good old "feeling" us gunners seem to have on the admittedly rare occasion that we sign a player?

45mins against a team who did not want to win? is this really a good judge?
Bischoff was awesome too when he finally played against a behind closed doors friendly. What happened to him again?
Sagna had a good rookie season, now he is the worst right back in the world.

I thought you was gonna talk about szczseny!!!!

But I can't lie, I'm not sure about this guy!! Only looks good in the air and he aint a prolific goal scorer! But let's see.....

But thank god for all these cb injuries!! Now wenger HAS TO BUY!!!! Yeaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Hopefully b4 da emirites cup!! Fingers crossed!!

thanks for jinxing it mate. Now he is ruined.
where you the same guy that jinxed davor suker when he was called 'the next Ian Wright' after he scored v Aston Villa?

Anonymous said...

I think it will go the same way as when Adebayor joined the club and go on to score at least 20 goals a season once he is nice and settled so possibly next season but I don't see why he can't get 10-15 goals this season

Sagna..
Now he is the worst right back in the world what fucking games have you looked at along with tommy V he is our most consistent player rarely gets injured and always you get a good performance out of him...ppffft..please...
Wrighty ye I think chamach will get us 20+ this year he couldn be worse than nikki b..
He looks good so far and I think Kos will come good remember Tommy V didn have a great pre season last year either..
Im optimistic for this year and we could have a suprise package in ..Fringpong....JET...or..shezzerso keep the faith everyone!!

Wrighty, you are wrong on this one, wenger has gone to far now, time for him to go,we will drop out the top 4 and it will be all wenger's fault, the signings of kocsielny and chamakh are a joke.He is still overlooking a major problem area (goalkeeper) and the way we defended tonight against that lot was pathetic.I really do fear for us next season, alot of people are going to receive a nasty surprise come next may,all this doing it on the cheap will finally catch up with us..

i noticed that frimpong did very well at winning the ball back, admittedly against a weak team but if he carries on like this he will be a suitible understudy to song

Chmakh's conversion rate is one in 6,he will not get 20 goals this season.

Anonymous said...

Chamakh's gonna be a giant this season. He may get only 10-12 goals in the Prem, but he'll be the 2nd highest assist to Fabregas and will take centre-backs out of position for midfielders to score a hatful.

This guy is class!

And Wilshere ain't going on loan. He's going to start 20+ games and become groomed for the Fabregas role. That's what I think Wenger has made a deal with Fabregas about. Bring Wilshere and grant him a hassle-free Barca move next season for £30m.

I'd be a little more optimistic if Arsene sorted out our goalkeeper and defence.

The disappointing thing about Arsenal is the amount of foreign players.

Apparently Joe Cole didn't wanna join because he said he would have felt just like Luke Skywalker did when he entered the Cantina.

Anonymous said...

He has a certain finesse thats needed to mix well at the arse, as for the guy spouting about sagna, behave yourself, go to a game i cant remember him ever being skinned, losing a header...i think lansbury and nordveit could be this years surprise packages. as for the guy moaning about nicky b face facts he secured our champs league last season and scored a hatrick in it that isnt easy, judging from your sofa clearly is.

Shame only one Ar2ena1 fan can speak any sense. Spot on dollar mighty Your defending this evening was at times comical. You can watch and admire how it's done in the CL by North London's only proper footballing side - the mighty THFC. We will have you begging for mercy when your superiors come to that dump later this year. 0-3 to the mighty Tottenham Hotspurs.

@ inferior spud
There is only ONE Mighty Club in London and it aint you. We are The Mighty Arsenal. I have used the phrase The Mighty Arsenal since I started supporting this great Club in 1967, now you wankers are nicking it? Oh yeah and by the way barca are officially skint and Twitchy is taking you down the same bankruptcy road with them. Jaygooner OOH TO BE A GOONER EIE

Don't forget that Chamakh helps hugely with our plan B, which is heading from crosses and set pieces. Wenger brought him in on three premises: his fighting spirit, his heading and his teamplay. Certainly the first two were short last season, so already this is a huge improvement on Eduardo. But he's obviously got to deliver the goods, and I'm putting the proverbial money on him to do it.

TO MY KNOWLEDGE 3 CENTRE HALVES HAVE THE ELFT SQUAD ALREADY AND LOOKS LIKE SOL WILL FOLLOW. WAS THIS NOT ONE OF OUR WEAK AREAS LAST SEASON AND NOW IT IS COMPLETELY DECIMATED. WHAT HAPPENS IF VERMALEAN GETS A KNOCK WE ARE FCUKED BIG TIME. AS FOR THE KEEPER SITUATION WELL.... WHAT IS GOING ON THERE OR RATEHR WHAT ISNT GOING ON THERE. AW SAID HE WANTED HIS SIGNINGS ALL SORTED BEFORE THE WORLD CUP BUT THE SLY OLD DOG DIDNT EVER MENTION WHICH WORLD CUP DID HE.....

mighty dollar - what were the conversion rates of Henry, Adebayor, Pires and Ljungberg before they came to Arsenal?

SuperiorSpurs... LMFAO. Your ceiling has been our floor for the last one and a half decades. You scrape a CL qualification and suddenly you are the better team? Honestly, you are either a fool if you think that, or you have special needs.

'Watch how it's done'. You crease me up man. You haven't even made it through to the CL full stages yet! I'd forgive you for coming back and gloating if you A. Finish higher than us in the prem or B. go further than us in the CL. Otherwise go back to your shabby bedsit, continue to scratch your nuts, munch on some cheesy puffs and try to answer the universal question that frustrates 85% of all Tottingham fans... 'how can I get away with wearing my stained-used-to-be-white-now-it's-gone-grey string vest, with the grease stains down the front of it, for another day?'

We are looking ok, still current first team players cesc & robin to come back plus a new goalie and defender but who?

Joppa Road said...

I haven't gone through all the comments, yet the word cloud cuckoo land comes to mind again.

Has every Arsenal fan forgotten how poorly we finished the season and deficiencies in the squad?

We have no no.1 GK, we have lost a great defender in Gallas and a great squad/experience player in Campbell. These are three massive blows. It don't matter how good we are going forward if the defence is as weak as it looks to me. Remember even Sagna and Clichy were poor at times last season.

We seem to be saying the same thing every season that the squad is getting weaker when in fact it needs to be strengthened with quality.

Out, Eduardo, Gallas, Campbell.

In Cham, Kos.

AM I the only one slightly worried here or are you lot still as blinkered as ever.

Don't get me wrong we will do ok because the rest of the prem isn't all that but if you seriously think that this defence can propel us to the champs league and prem league then you are bigger fools than even I thought.

GET REAL, WAKE UP!

chamakh was priced at £8m in Jan with just 6months on his contract and plenty of people were begging AW to sign him then. now they say he's not worth it cos he's free. go figure!?

Anonymous said...

there's no question we will strengthen the defensive lines before the season starts. people just need to chill out about the time factor. there is plenty of time. so what if sol and gallas have quit, we have kos and djourou to replace them. plus nordveit is coming thru after a season in the german top flight (germany world cup semi-finalists remember...) i agree we could do with tightening up at the back nevertheless - but wenger thinks the same thing so let's just wait and see. love the way JET and Frimpong have performed in pre-season as well. under 21 and homegrown to boot.

all you denilson haters need to have a serious look at yourselves. for a start, how many of you were raving about flamini before his final season - when he was aged 24 by the way? actually i think denilson now, aged 22 is a better player than flamini at that point. then aged 24 flamini had a blinding season for us before effing off the milan. well in my books, denilson has done more than enough to justify his place and will only get better. if he shows the same improvement as flamini he will be an arsenal legend - and my bet is will not eff of to milan or anyweher else. so lay off him you cnuts!

MJBailey92 said...

I dont think AW has been persuing this guy for near on 2 years because he is talentless he has shown good signs but only in friendlies so we will see at the beginning of the season, yes we need another centre back and well everybody knows we need a GK but it all depends on AW, im optimistic for the season ahead.

oh and its funny to see a spud thinking that they are good when they win one game in the league against us in 10 years, they think our stadium is shit they obviously haven't seen the scum play and that would explain why they think that thier team is good as well, ill be surprised if the scum get out of the group stage, that being said ill be surprised they make it that far

Joppa Road said...

I'm sure people just write stuff for effect. If not there are a lot of thick Arsenal fans out there thats for sure.

Denilson better than Flamini. FOFF you tosspot. Thats all need be said on that.

I thought we needed four more players. But it should be FIVE. Two cb.'s ( now that Campbell has gone ),a goalkeeper, a tough defensive midfielder, and now a striker ( we've lost Eduardo, and now Bendtner's injured ). Forget the striker - Wenger doesn't think we need any more. And judging from his latest comments, it doesn't look likely that he intends to get ANY more players, but settle for what he's got!
Even if he signed ONE,that still leaves us four short. And remember he told us they were to be "top, top quality". And EXPERIENCED.Does anyone really think we'll be getting FOUR new players in the next few weeks ?
"In Arsene we rust".

Anonymous said...

Not really convinced.Chamakh wasn't exactly a prolific striker. As for people here saying he is going to score 20 goals+ a season. I doubt it.

Face it, we only got him because he was free. I bet Wenger wouldn't have paid £5 million for him.
