I Want Him As The Next Arsenal Manager

Did anyone else watch the programme on Sky Sports News about Thierry Henry just now?

He still holds a massive torch for Arsenal. Its bigger than the one the Statue of Liberty holds which is ironic given that Thierry plays in New York these days.

The man loves Arsenal so much and its great to see such a legend speak so fondly of the club.

Its clear, if possible, he would return to Arsenal in some capacity. He has even joked in the past that he would be the kit-man.

I'd go one further.

It might sound a little crazy, hell, it may be more loony than Tom Cruise and his Scientology pals, but I'd make him the next Arsenal manager.

Maybe I'm just feeling a little sentimental after watching my most favourite Arsenal player in my entire stinking existence on the TV but I would love Henry to be back with us one day.

As the gaffer.

Of course it would be a risk. Thierry would be a managerial rookie. He would have less experience than Frank Lampard has at a salad bar but I think its a risk worth taking.

People say he would be too nice, couldn't make the hard decisions, I disagree.

The next Arsenal gaffer has to have an affinity with the club. I don't see anyone out there who loves us as much as him.

He is an intelligent guy and with the right people surrounding him at the club I believe he could become an inspired choice.

Keep It Goonerish.......

I agree mate, hes different class. Dont get players like him nemore. HIS heart, determination and passion would push the arsenal. you dont have to have years of experience. look at guardiola for barca!

I love him and couldn't agree more!

it doesnt sound stupid, it sounds ridiculous. clearly you are living down to your namesake

Just seen the programme. Thierry still a great man, At Arsenal we were lucky and honoured to see a great player in his pomp! But Manager....far too early. If he does become a manager and is successful.... we can only Dream!!!

Look what guardiola is doing with barca so why cant thierry do the same with us.

Del said...

Y r u saying that? Guardiola didnt ave ne experience and hes the barca manager. These old players have the passion to succeed because they love the club and know how it works. HENRYYY!!!!

steve bould no.2, or anyone with a bit more umpf than rice.

utter tosh! why does the next manager have to have an affinity with the club?
surely he should be the best man for the job?
To reiteraate- you are spouting sycophantic drivel!

less experience than frank lampard at a salad bar - ROFL!!!

it would be dream to have TH back where he belongs. As manager...why not but bare in mind fellow Gooners that 99% of the manager/club relationships nearly always end in a divorce !

What a stupid article. Yes, Henry is a legend but to put someone with zero managerial experience, whoever they are, in charge of Arsenal Football Club is utterly absurd.

You idiots haven't a clue have you? No wonder so many Arsenal bloggers are fucking clueless with dumass articles like this that show zero understanding of the sport.

Henrys a legend, but we need a coach with some credentials. He needs to prove himself by getting coaching experience elsewhere.

Its ridicolous to use Guardiola as an example, because he has three of the best players in the world in his first 11, and the rest aren't bad either.

Jose Mourinho would be my choice, but i know the Arsenal fans won't like my for saying that because they don't like his arrogant attitude, and me-first attitude. But he wins trophies, and excuse me for not forgetting that winning matches is what football is about.

i'd love thierry as our manager but not just yet, i feel he should takt the number 2 job first to get his experience. would love him to be the number 2 first to wenger and then to rijkaard, before he himself steps into the hot seat!!!

Are u high?
Henry as manager?
Fuck off!
You shown your young age if you think this guy is the legend you think he is. He doesn't hold a candle to the likes of Brady, Bergkamp, George, McClintock, Wright, Adams, Vieira, Fabregas. I wouldn't even put him ahead of Wilshere now as legendary!
Amazing player when it was all going great for us - pompous overblown diva when it wasnt.

i want him 2 come bak hes better thn bender vela nd chamakh

Henry would be just as good a manager as Glenn Hoddle or Roy Keane - ie, terrible. He would expect everyone to play to the incredibly high standards he set himself, and would petulantly sulk whenever they didn't. So basically all the time then. He would probably be on a managerial par with Maradona. Geniuses can't manage mortals.

Mr X said...

he could also turn out like tony adams as a manager.

Gunn said...

Love your jokes lol... On a more serious note, I think he would have the same effect as the one kenny has on Liverpool, he just needs a bit more experience but doesn't need to be years and years, I mean look at pep guardiola.
It's clear for all to see that all the fans still love him and wouldn't mind seeing him manage our great club one day.

guardiola did have experience as manager he was manager of barceolna b,who play in the spanish equivalent of the championship, a few years before he took over as barcelona manager

This blog is losing the credibility day by day.A week after it published an article glorifying Wenger and why the Arsenal fans are 'lucky' to have him!

Liam said...

To be hones, I have thought that for a long time now. And I think Henry has all the tools: experience, winning attitude, skills to teach, and has worked with some of the best managers of the last 20 years. We don't really have a clue about how good he would be making decisions about tactics or judging the potential of a player, but he wouldn't be alone.

And Guardiola was just one year at Barça B, and they were at 3rd division, which is the equivalent to what comes after the after League 3. In Spain, you have 20 teams, then 22, then in 2 Division B there are 4 groups, so 80 teams. He was in the next division, so he really didn't have any valuable experience.

Couldnt agree with you more wrighty, by the way is this that "thierry and me" interview. I'm afraid I wont catch it on tv so do you know by any chance if its available online? I would love to see it

All managers are liable to be fired if they are not successful meaning winning matches and trophies..Do you think the red faced could have lasted so long if he had not been winning trophies?
If press reports are to be believed ,he was on the verge of being axed in 1995 until winning the FA cup saved him.So Henry will be the same unlesss the board indulges in him like Wenger going five years without atrophy. That is the gunner board prefers profits to trophies.

jesus casanova said...

i would like to see him as a manager eventually but not for at least 5 years, bergkamp would also make a great arsenal manager. however if wenger were to leave in the near future (hopefully not) my first choice would be pep guardiola and i've heard rumours it could happen tho' i cant see it myself.

Henry's not a manager, no way no how. He's a pretty boy. He's a good ambassador for the club, but never a manager. Especially for a top club.

Anonymous said...

Can't compare Henry to Guardiola. Guardiola was a general on the pitch, managing was always in him. Henry was never a leader.

Danny B said...

Not all ex players become bad managers, one of the greatest of all time, Brian Clough is a good example, the thought of Thierry coming back isn't too far fetched, but he'd work his way up, or work with Wenger above him as Director of Football.

Anonymous said...

I don't want him to be next Alan Shearer

Sue said...

Sorry I cant agree.....as much as I love Thierry he isnt exactly management material yet...I'd rather have Dennis back

Anonymous said...

I'd like Mikael Sylvestre as the next manager of Arsenal.

Galc.

Thierry Henry is definitely a legend and whoever disagrees with that then they must be high on some Afghan Poppy Leaf. I agree that he needs to get his credentials and some experience before he steps in one of the hottest seat in England perhaps Europe. With him at the helm, Arsenal will get a passionate manager who puts his team first and ego second. Lastly, let him first go to that route and we'll see if that will happen. He needs to get out of MLS ASAP...I think he is wasting valuable 2-3 years of playing career playing at MLS.

Not sure I really see the point in this article. What value are you bringing to readers? OK, fair enough but then why doesnt Denis Bergkamp or Ian Wright become the manager. It's just a bit of a shot in the dark muse that resembles people who say things like Richard Branson should be the Chancellor, its not very grounded in reality is it.

Joshua Omagwa said...

Henry has got sentimental attachment to the Arsenal club and that can boost them if he becomes the manager. Coaching what you love, fantastic.

Anonymous said...

To the idiot that said that Henry isn't a legend, and said that Fabregas is a bigger legend. You sir, are the fucking idiot.

I agree with you Wrighty, guardiola had no experience either, look what he's achieved

Anonymous said...

Wrighty mate that is the most stupid thing you have said since you started this blog.

You'd put someone with zero management experience in charge of the Arsenal because he loves the club. Roy Keane is doing well isn't he.

By your logic Tommy Cooper was a great comedian who should have been prime minister

Anonymous said...

I see calls for bergkamp to be manager.

We'll have second rate team by then so we wont have to worry about his fear of flying as we wont be competing in europe

Anonymous said...

barca's manager is playing with the team built by rijkard so Rijkard for Arsenal

Anonymous said...

i vote for Bergkamp

Anonymous said...

" with the right people surrounding him at the club" that's what Wenger had when he was winning things. A better medical staff, coaches and the most of all David Dein. Maybe this is what is missing now - right people surrounding Wenger at the Arsenal

rosdan_bachok said...

If I have to choose either two legends, Henry or Bergkamp, I would rather choose Bergkamp, at least he's a youth coach at Ajax. He should know how people manage the football club ;)

thundertinygooner said...

Patrick Vieira might be a better choice but there is no reason why Henry could not be taken onto the coaching staff. There is often a problem when great polayers begin to manage those less talented but Thierry is highly intelligent and motivated. He lacks any coaching badges however but it is the sort of populist appointment Arsenal might make to keep some fans onside

Anonymous said...

why not have henry doing the attack and tony adams doing the defense, lehmann coaching the goalkeepers!
perhaps im joking but thinking about it it cant get any worse than this shambles can it. We have a weak team, useless at the back when injury strikes one or two key players. We have no resiliance even when 2,3 0r 4 goals in front.
Wenger HAS to retire.....and the mourinho idea is good but the greedy F++++++ wants 20 million a year!...even i would be as tight as arsenal on that one!

Anonymous said...

If he loves us that much why did he demand a £5 million payout to stay the season that we moved to the emirates??

Elk said...

A bit on the risky side,i think once he hangs uphis boots he shoulkd become first team coach first. deputising under Wenger.i could already see him suited and booted, red tie on and shouting on the touchline. bergkamp is another option. As is Tony Adams weho would possess the skills to create verve and beauty he learnt under Wenger and a defensive grit he learnt under Graham. the onlky problem with alll of these is the danger that, if they didn'tdoso well you turn an Arsenal Legend into a villain, whowillalways be remembered as great player, shit manager. But i think Henry has the steel and drive to do it.

Rupe said...

Ridiculous!

Because Guardiola's done so well with little experience... ANYONE can do so...?!!! Guardiola's an exception.

I have to agree with those saying Henry wasn't an exceptional leader. But even if he WAS, that doesn't mean he'd instantly be an exceptional manager. Look at Tony Adams.

IMO the best thing we could do now is to make Steve Bould the replacement for Pat Rice and get him involved with making our defence more disciplined. If that goes well, then Bouldy's the man to replace Wenger.

THIERY would make a fantastic and nice manager. He loves arsenal so much......

>>Jose Mourinho would be my choice,<<

wash your fecking mouth out. We don't want this scumbag anywhere near our club

who would manage us for away games in Europe he couldn't drive to?

Anonymous said...

Hey guys dont compare w guardiola. he has messi.

Anonymous said...

Henry with Martin Keown as number 2 with Wenger as director of football sounds good if Henry wasnt such an asshole in his last days moaning and sulking if one pass went astray. WE all no, as much as i Cant stand the guy MOURINHO would win the lge with this squad. NICE 1 wrighty

I would, on two provisions: no Wenger upstairs and Keown as his no.2...

i'd get Harry from the spuds, what he's done with spurs is fantastic, their playing better football than us, their still in europe. and if we dont sign a few experienced players in the close season they'll finish above us next year. every player wenger said he wanted, harry went out and signed. he put his money where wengers mouth was.

I somehow doubt that the comment above came from a bona fide Arsenal fan

Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your post
seem to be running off the screen in Opera. I'm not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I figured I'd
post to let you know. The design look great though!
