If Fabio Capello trusts Gareth Barry that's good enough for me!

We are being linked with Gareth Barry and it's been said that he would prefer a move to us rather than Liverpool.

My take? Prove it. I'd like to hear it from the player himself. I thought he was desperate for a move to Anfield.

Anyway, I've often wondered whether Gareth Barry would improve Arsenal. There is no doubt that he is a good player, who importantly, has Premiership and international experience.

What sways me more to the fact he would improve Arsenal is that Fabio Capello puts his trust in Gareth Barry when selecting his England side. Capello is no mug, and if he believes in Barry, then so do I.

And I believe in a thing called love, just listen to the rhythm of my heart..............

Arsene Wenger often uses the excuse that signing someone like Barry would 'kill' a player like Song or Denilson. I beg to differ. Barry is no mass murderer. As far as I know anyway. But then its always the quietest ones that surprise you..............

Players like Song and Denilson would learn from someone like Barry. It would improve them. Not only that, it would give everyone at the club a lift and it shows a statement of intent to the rest of the Premiership.

It would also give some reassurance to Gooners. We need to see the club make these kind of signings. It feels good. Almost like making love.

Look at Andrei Arshavin. He has been superb for us and his arrival lifted the club into space.

Would Barry be a good partner for Cesc Fabegas? I'd say yes. It would create a good balance in the middle of the park. Because Barry is left footed. And clever

I always wanted Arsenal to sign Xabi Alonso, who I believe is the best passer of the ball in the world. It looks likely he will either stay at Liverpool or sign for Real Madrid.

Barry is the next option. We need to get in there now before Alonso's career is sorted out. Get in early.

Gareth Barry has one year left on his contract and now would be a good time to make a move.

Keep it Goonerish.......

Well put Wrighty. Barry has better covering skills than does Alonso, which is exactly what we are missing.

Wenger said last year that he is reluctant to buying a player of his age because there is 'no resale value' after the player is here, but are we really looking for resale on a player of this nature? If we win the Champions League Arsenal would see an extra $150 mil, that's much more than what we'll get from any player.

the thing is, who else do Capello have with England if he doesn't trust Barry?

Barry ain't spring chicken, and he's not gonna be cheap.

a DM when he's close to 30 he's only have one or two good years left. or at least i think that's what AW believes, or else he wouldn't have left Gilberto goes.

Barry would be a decent signing, him and an experienced CB and we are set...

Barry is 28, he's got 4 years in him, Id say, maybe more... Anyways, with Song improving massively as well as the likes of Coquelin and Frimpong from the yutes, we only need him for a couple of seasons, IMO...

barry plays ahead of petrov for aston villa so hes hardly a dm that everyone is saying we need

Petrov has played the more defensive role for Villa this season, but Barry still can play that role, as he does for England...

If he wasnt such a crock, Id go for Owen Hargreves, personally. But if he wasnt such a crock, there'd be no way United would get rid of him!

Maybe we should get Senderos then. Ancellotti, Wenger and Hitzfeld, three great managers rate him.

Me too Jonjon!

The reason why Fabio Capello puts his trust in Gareth Barry is because he only has a select few to choose from. He manages an international side and therefore only uses what he can which is English players. He doesn't have the luxury like clubs to choose from ALL over the world.

Well he keeps Carrick out of the England team, that's not too shabby

Some good humour but I think your basic principle is wrong. Just because one manager selects a player for the national team it doesn't make him good. At Real Madrid Capello repeatedly picked Emerson when he gave bad performances time after time...

I think we should go for stavros flattery,he maybe shite at football, but I bet he gets the players going(a real captain)

I'd much prefer one of Alonso, Yaya Toure, Filipe Melo or Inler. I mean don't get me wrong about Barry he's a very good player and gets his fair share of assists each season but he's not that defensive or holding midfielder that we're looking for. He's not that at Villa so why are we looking at him. and whichever newspaper said he'd be available for around 10 mill is just thick. There's no way Villa would let him go for anything less than 15 or 18 million. He's english and because of clubs like Chelsea and Man U paying over the odds for players like Shaun Wright Phillips, Carrick and Hargreaves most English players are shockingly overpriced.

What the fudge. What about Toulalan at Lyon. He might be available this summer after a disappointing season and at 26 years old and always playing for France he could be the one Wenger is looking at.

to be honest wrighty i myself would actually prefer miguel veloso because he has everything barry has but younger, better and experience in the champions league. also he has come out this week saying he wants to move. so leave barry for the scouse and buy veloso!

and please no one say yaya, or our whole squad will be in africa in january. plus why would yaya leave barca?
