Patrick Vieira; He aint no traitor!

Well, Patrick Vieira has come back to England and while it will seem very strange to see him in a Manchester City shirt I'd like to wish him the best of luck.

The most romantic in us (including myself) would have loved to have seen Vieira come back to his spiritual home wearing the red and white again.

However, think about it properly and you have to say that it was probably best for Arsenal, and Paddy, that he played elsewhere.

Without doubt we had the best years of Patrick's career. He joined us when he was 20 and left at 29. He was the best midfielder in the world, and we saw him at his glorious best.

Unfortunately for the Frenchman those days are behind him and I'm glad that we shared those times when he spent almost a decade with us.

I still believe that he can do a job for most teams but had he re-signed with us I think we'd have a seen a player who was a shadow of his former self.

I want to remember Vieira how he was with us at his best. I wouldn't him to have come back and, forgive me for maybe sounding harsh, tainted his image.

That said, I hope he will do a job at Manchester City (not enough to mess Arsenal up!) and secure his place his place for France at the 2010 World Cup.

Vieira is not a traitor for joining Manchester City. As Goodplaya says, had he come back and signed for Tottenham, Manchester United or Chelsea it may had been different.

He will earn a good wage at City, he is admired by the manager there and will get games. That is what Paddy wanted. I say good luck to him.

Keep it Goonerish............

Typical Gooners. Now he hasn't signed you are happy. Get off your high horses and admit it. City are going places and taking your place on the way.

Can't see it's much different to Petit signing for Chelsea after his legs had gone. Both are still legends....

Taking our place ? how your figure that ?
Arsenal dont need to make big money signings, we just stick by our manager through think and thin and we operate on what we earn.

Man shitty have spent hw many million in the past year.....and were does that put you, still outside the top 4 .

Come to the emirates on the 24th April and you will be taught a footballing lesson .

Why would we be gutted ?

we have Cesc fabregas who is the best midfielder in the premiership.

If you remembr it was he who humiliated you new player back in 2006 (for juve) , when every afc fan realised he was past it .

I love PV4 his an afc legend but he left at the right time

None of you have the balls to admit it then?

Perfectly put. Best to remember Paddy for the absolute beast he was in our midfield. Imagine having to blog about how bad a decision it was to resign him..uurrgghhh

wrighty, can i just say that no arsenal fans that i know personally or those that i have read on numerous other arsenal blogs are calling him a traitor. none at all. I think all of us would want him to at least be called up to go to his last world cup.

And as for the mancity fan here commenting and getting all defensive about their team.. one questions- what you on about?! this post was no attack to city or anything to do with your club. typical deluded mancity fans. what an irritating bunch of fans!

And gutted he has not signed for us? please he was a legend with us and still will be. we want to remember him as that, not a player who's legs has gone.

vieira is a legend but he always was a money hungry one, only loyal once he got his annual payrise, he is well past it,signing him back would have been a step down, like resigning matt flamini, what have they done to justify a move to arsenal?

I think we should all just admit it now.

In fact I am bricking it about Manchester City. Shitting myself!

Just changed two pairs of pants.

I'll say the same thing I said to Villa fans mate; DONT GET ABOVE YOURSELF TOO SOON!

Worried about a second rate club that posted losses of 90m last year, kept alive month to month at the whim of a dictator.....?

Acually, what i find more scary is that your club go bust after a month if the sheikh withdrew his backing.

Do me a favour, use this time that you're talking shit on an arsenal blog to go out and look for a job or maybe come to terms with the fact that your once proud club has sold its soul so it can be an advertising sandwich board for abu dhabi!
