Point earned or two dropped against Villa?

I suppose your view on the Aston Villa result tonight depends on whether your glass is half full or half empty.

As it happens I believe that was a good point earned.

Believe me, a draw at Villa Park in this day and age is a pretty good result. Ask Chelsea.

Aston Villa are a very good side and I'd have taken a point before the game all day long.

This morning I'd have thought that 8 points from these fixtures against Villa, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool would be very promising. That looks very doable now.

I think Sol Campbell deserves a special mention as well.

Many doubted the logic in re-signing Campbell. Some said it was a gamble.

Well Sol was immense tonight and I think he went a long way in proving why Wenger was right to bring him back.

It was like watching the Sol of old at times. He was superb, especially in the air and slotted in alongside Gallas with ease.

Having him back, as back-up for Gallas and Vermaelen, is very reassuring indeed.

Our Belgian stopper came off injured tonight and I hope he makes a speedy recovery because we need him but having Campbell ready to step in as a replacement softens the blow slightly.

For those of you who find the result against Villa hard to take, my advice would be to keep your chin up. That was a hard place to get a result and we have.

Forget Chelsea winning. If we can get through this difficult run of games undefeated and with 8 points the confidence in the side will be immense.

And I believe we will win the league.

Keep it Goonerish...............

i too am happy enough with the result but part of me is thinking we are now a net points behind and cant afford to fall back any further. that will obv be very difficult to with the games we have. if we lost against utd or chelsea or god forbid both we could be 8, or 11! points behind. AGAIN!

a net 5 points

A source is reporting Vermaelen has a fractured leg and is out for the season, know any more?

Vermaelen out for the season

the verminator has broken his fibula. fucking typical!!!!!!!

8 points is our aim on these 4 games. Two away draws and 2 home wins. That'll be sweet.

If Eduardo was injured tonight then surely Wenger has to buy in the next 4 days. Huntelaar on loan seems extremely viable now.

Well Campbell will HAVE to do it now because yet again we have lost a player to injury. And I doubt Vermaelen (unlike some of the weasels that play for us)is a player that goes off injured unless he's completely fucked

First Van Persie and now The Verminator.

It's a Double Dutch Disaster!

Just heard Vermalen out for the season with fractured fibula...don't know how true it is.

But hey, isn't life just so very lovely? I mean things just keeps getting rosier for us gooners with each passing game. Weather its Almunia, Theo and Denilson shitting up, or its the wonderful injuries.

Ah life...what a fucking paradise!

I hope we can gain some good points against the rest of the teams...i see this one as two lost, but its not too bad

Wenger will now come out and say that Walcott can play central. What a joke. If he doesn't buy then he deserves everything he gets.

hahahaha vermaelen aint dutch thicko hahaha

Vermaelen has a fractured leg and is out for the season.

Typical.

I have never never know a squad to sustain so many injuries over and over again...

we need a Dm cuz now somg will drop back into defence and we need a striker, is Dzeko's agent still in the country.

Unknown said...

It's obvious why we sustain so many injuries. Nobody makes a tackle during training. Honestly, the next time we play watch how many times during the game Gary O'Driscoll has to come on and treat one of our players. Looking at Walcott in a competitive match he just looks lost. In training up against the 'walkabout' left fulls Clichy and Traore he probably flies around the place unchallenge running amok. Then on a Saturday someone like Paul Konchesky kicks him and he disappears for the game.
THE PLAYERS ARE TOO PAMPERED!

Seeing as Villa beat chavski, dippers n manure this is Point earned....

vermaelen left the ground on crutches. Wenger says he'll have scan in the morning but it is either a fibula fracture or a nerve problem because it swelled up.
source: SSN

so lets hope it's not the broken leg. sol played great but if it is a break we need anothe CB cos silvestre can't be anywhere near the 1st team imo.

also, striker would be a wise buy, although bendtner wasn't bad for his 1st game back. huntelaar on loan would be fine, dzeko would be a dream but any buys at all are doubtful.

hopefully sol can last the next 3 games, it only his pace and fitnes that worry me

I've heard that TV's injury is fratured fibula but I've also heard it could be a whack on the nerve.

Lets hope for the latter!

I guess the only positive from TV5 injury is that he came back on the pitch after the injury and played on for a couple of minutes. Surely u cant run about with a broken leg! I know its vermaelen, and hes an absolute monster! - but still that wud be pretty unbelievable!

Hey - it's us !
OFC it's a broken fibula !
And these were 2 points dropped !
You can dream about Dzeko or The Hunter - we won't bring anyone in !
Wenger knows are squad is still good enough. hahahahaha
We are a joke ! ! ! If Song doesn't make it for sunday - we are so screwed !
You talk about 8 and even 11 points ! I will be happy if we collect 5 !
Cause at the Bridge - we will be blown away !
But let's stick with Denilson and Ramsey ! I really can't believe those 2 play in our midfield.

that's it...

i don't think we can win the EPL this season with this kind of striker..

3 big games ahead... no chance to score.. without good striker.

Wenger..pls buy new striker

ARSENAL nowadays get BULLIED so often it's painful!!

433 with Denilson and Ramsey holding was very weak, defence had no protection.

MORE URGENCY NEXTIME LADS,

hmmmm...i dunno, things are gonna be even more difficult for us now, especially since were not getting any cover in the transfer market.

i dont like the idea of song at cb. i think that would be more damaging to the team hhan sol. we need song back in midfield. we need a striker. we need a cb.

Blimey. A draw away at a really competitive side who've beaten Chavs, Manures and Scousers this year and some people are predicting the end of the world.
Let's take stock after the next three games. The picture might be rosier than the doom-mongers think. If we're within six points of the top at that stage we're in good nick, because we have the best run-in and the other big teams still have to play each other.

Denilson is the sole reason for our demise. That guy is such a poor player. Weak, no creativity, no pace, can't tackle - I am at a loss here. What does he bring to the team honestly? We carry him when he plays, which means fabregas is much more restricted as he has to worry about that fake brazilian twat. Gilberto Silver looks an absolute world beater compared to that.

Vern said...

i know what your saying but we are already a net 5 behind. so to come out after the next 3 games only 6 behing chelsea would be near miraculous! we need a win on sunday, a draw at the bridge, and to beat lpool

2 points dropped am afraid...i love arsenal and arsene wenger, love the clubs philosophy of living within there means...i wish sometimes we would maybe take a calculated risk...in my opinion we have a fantastic squad but unfortunaly many injuries, have been gypsy cursed or something?i cant understand how one team can have so many, we must be doing something wrong?overtraining?god knows. anyway i think we just r lacking 1 player..a beast upfront to rough up defenders, that way the others can find space around him, that ivorian traore wouldve been great. even better dzeko. o well woteva happens il keep the faith. gooners

Anonymous said...

Didn't we just keep a clean sheet with Denilson at DM?

Anonymous said...

Definitely a point gained. The second half we competed very well against a good Villa team and could have won. I agree with others that to win the home games and at least draw at Chelsea would put us in a good position for a tilt at the title.

Go you gunners!

Unknown said...

well i just cant seem to understand why wenger persists with denilson......hes an attackin player not a defensive 1....besides playin him dm is not the right choice accordin to me cos damn hes bullied like a fukin kid in there.....why play denilson when u have an alex song type player in jay emmanuel thomas....the lad is tough and passionate for the game.....denilson on the other hand is bullied like a school boy.......and it seems the vermimnator maybe out for the season....do we have backup??....sol campbell against drogba, rooney and torres....makes me stop and wonder maybe we should have let senderos stay....but we gotta keep faith.....it was a fair result yestday....up the gunnerz

Last nights game was intense. The travelling supporters were excellent! (I watched at home, BUT I heard you singing all night) Arsenal and Villa have to be the two most fittest sides in the league, both teams ran forever. The result was dissapointing, but I was really impressed at how the players (Arsenal) really threw themselves at everything! The one negative that I have is DENILSON! He is one of our DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS, however his defensive capabilities are terrible! Infact! He is terrible! He cant pass, he has very little vision and worst of all, HE CANT TACKLE!!! He can only commit fouls and give away free kicks! and he is one of our defensive mid players??? The time is literally NOW to buy a Keeper (as Almunia punches way too often for my liking, and puts his players under unnecessary pressure, with his throw outs and indecision) a CB, now that Vermaelen could have a broken leg? a World Class, proven DM (as Denilson is not a DM big toe, Diaby is more attack minded and Song needs class back-up; Maybe someone Spainish, Guti? or even German, I dont know?) and a Striker (Agbonlahor or however you spell it for me was impressive last night, he is fast, skillful and holds the ball up well, I would even buy Ashley Young or Milner, Both are excellent English players) Anyway, those are just my thoughts, take it or leave it…

AW,in his province of wisdom vested in the nose that he keeps on wiping at every press conference and not the skull, decided to burn his bridges early by fielding an impotent team for FA CUP exit.Mr. AW, these were more winnable cups(FA and Carling with only Chelsea the team to beat. The ultimate price? 3rd position in the EPL and semi-final exit in C/L.Another trophyless season for the gooners. And then AW will say,"I will rather resign than fail to win the EPL titile".

Im sick of these Arsenal doubters. I Hope we win the league so you guys can just shut the fuck up. Really, why don't you guys just support man city. You'll be sure to have signings every day.

Too spoilt. Arsene Wenger is GENIUS. Some Arsenal fans are too dumb to see that.

The Arsenal Way. The Only Way.

fcking hell Wrighty7, even someone as blinkered as you must begin to question Wenger now?

Truely awful yesterday. You should read my latest couple of posts. Says it straight.

Remember arguing about Denilson and Almunia with you last season when you said Almunia had joined the ranks of the best GKs in the world lolol and your constant defence of the useless fckwit Denilson.

Tell it how it is ffs.
