The demise of an Arsenal favourite..........

What the hell has happened to Freddie Ljungberg?!

Things seem to go from bad to worse for him. He has now been released from his contract at West Ham after one injury plagued season.

OK the "mutual departure" has left Freddie with a huge amount of money in his back burner but there is even talk of him now retiring. He is 31!

Of course it would be lovely to retire at 31, but no footballer would want to retire at that age.

Even after an injury plagued season last year its believed his fitness had no bearing on the decision for him to part with the Hammers. He proved he was fit at the Euros.

Is he becoming a bad egg? He didn't have many decent comments about Arsenal when he left, many were unsavoury and he sounded pretty bitter.

In his last couple of seasons at Arsenal he didn't seem his usual self and it's obvious that Le Boss was correct in off loading Freddie when he did.

What has happened to our favourite Swede? I loved Freddie and his red hair. I'm disappointed that his career seems to be ending in such a shit way.

I only hope he puts all this behind him and has a fresh start at another club.

Keep it Goonerish...........

Sadly Freddie seems to have caught the samsoms. His career went down the pan when his hair got up and left. I'l miss the habit he had of scoring againt man utd.

this jst a prime example of what happens when you leave mighty Arsenal. you carry a curse with you and you are destined for failure.

On his day in his prime he was mega, his form as well as Pires's was the main reason Bentley had to go. He rescued us when Pires injured himself and his relatonship with Dennis B was almost telepathic. He was a big game player and did it for us against Juve as well on a great night at Highbury. I will always remember winning the title at MANURE and if just for that I will always remember Freddie and what he did for us. In recent years he lost his pace and that badly affected his game which was based on running at people and into space. Good luck Freddie whatever you do next.

He never said bad things about Arsenal, those were just newspaper reports made up by the Russian press to unsettle him in the build up to the Sweden v Russia group stage game in Euro 08.

He denied the comments saying he had the utmost respect for Arsène and that he loved Arsenal.
