NOOooooo, thank you!................

So from next season England could have a Spanish goalkeeper playing for them. How shit have England become? Are we now so bad that we now rely on other nations to produce players for us! And we used to laugh at Scotland doing it!

So Manuel Almunia for England? Not for me. It's been said there is a possibility of Almunia playing for England to solve the England goalkeeper crisis. I think that this is wrong. He's SPANISH not English and should only represent Spain.

I'm sorry Manuel that you cant get into the Spain side. But maybe, just maybe, if you knuckle down at Arsenal and keep improving as you have been, then you may even get that chance for your home land.

Almunia should wait for a chance to play for Spain. If it doesn't happen, it's unfortunate. I hope England don't go down this road. I think other countries shouldn't do it either. We have a great player in Eduardo who's done it, but I still don't agree with it.

England should have an English team. And before anyone gives it about Arsenal having hardly any English players, shut up, that's not what this is about.

For me, its Arsenal first and England second. But that does not mean I want England to fail or go down this road to make us better.

I do however think it's alright to have a foreign manager. The manager should be the best man for the job, regardless of nationality.

We, after all want England to do well and we now have a good manager. Although in truth, it's more than just having a good manager, it go's deeper than that. Back to grass roots level.

Anyway, Almunia for England? Not for me.

Keep it Goonerish.............

I agree with you but there are presidents already set. John Barnes was born in Jamica and decided to play for England and there are many more.

What about Hargreaves isn't he really Canadian!!

Hang, the captain of England cricket is a South African!

But I do agree with you.

who cares about crap international football ,its followed mainly by people who live in tiny villages and at club level support pub teams mainly ,id rather have the best possible squad and team selection be allowed for premiership football rather than lower standards and have more english for the international team due to the 6 plus 5 rule or watever it is ,if they stopped giving english muppets mansions and cars an huge salarys before they have done anything like theo then maybe these boys would be more focused and work harder like young foriegn lads, almunia should steer well clear of playing for england, the team should stop picking itself and players should be selected on club form which means rooney should not be in the squad, and players should play the positions they are selected at for club level instead of gettin lampard an gerrard in and asking them to play different types of games than the ones which got them selected!

Yeah but doesnt Hargreaves own a British dog or something?.....

For me, Almunia's blown it by saying he'd do it if it was the only way he was going to get to play international football.

If he was saying that he loves England, wants to stay here, wants to represent the country, I might have carried on supporting the idea. Can't have someone playing for England who'd rather be playing for someone else! I don't believe that's the case with the likes of Barnes and Pietersen.

I wouldn't support the idea, I think it highlights the fact that we need to up the levels at grassroots, not take player who have come up under another countries grassroots schemes. Firstly, sunday league teams are taxed for playing on council fields, of just extremely shit standard i might add. I recently went to France for a couple of days and they have quality pitches EVERYWHERE in their country, and kids can use them free of charge, so can their equivalent to our sunday league teams use them, FREE OF CHARGE. I've known quality players quit the game, players who could've moved on to a higher standard of playing like myself, but they and their parents have got fed up with paying as much as £80 for signing fees, then an additional £3 a week for training! as well as £3 each home game to pay for the ref! If we are to be a successful nation at events such as The World Cup, or even the EURO's then our young, budding footballers have to have these hinderances taken from them, because thats all they are, hinderances. Football is not politics, and The FA should have no affiliation with the government, and for as long as that seems to be the case, and our "smaller" club sides keep being taxed, then we will just have to settle with moaning at Fat Frank and Co. for under-acheiving.

Also, when council put these cages in our parks, with tarmac surfaces, what help does that do for the kids on the estates, it doesn't, because 1. Its not full size, 2. You get arsehole basketballers in there at the same time, 3. Burning cars, perfect place for them, 4. Vandalism, 5. You can only fit about 3 people from each team in there.... and I could go on for years on that matter. However, when I went to France, where they have cages, the cages have grass that is about as fresh as that of The Emirates looked the other day, all year round! And that is free! Something has to be done, I'd to know what people think of my input, slate me, or agree with me, I'd like to know. Cheers.

Who the fucks Wright7?

Wrighty what would being Englands No1 goalie do for his value in the transfer market?

Should make him worth another £5 million as English players are always overpriced.

And another thing it may help the fact thateveryone knocks Arsenal for having too many foreigners.

Now England have one!!

Bob Wilsom born in England played for Scotland.

i completely disagree you wrighty.we have no GK that suits a normal team of europe so what about england.we will never ever win a silverware when we have robinson and carson.

This is why I hardly read your blog again Wrighty.
You are foul mouthed and full of contradictions!
You rip into people who criticize Arsenal not having many English players and yet you cannot stand the prospect of a foreign born player wearing the England colors.
This is a truckload of rubbish!
By the way,I'm an Arsenal fan.

I agree with you Wrighty, but if you have a policy of strickly only playing for your country of birth, then the same must be said of the manager. Everyone agrees that the `boss` of the team is part of the team. The manager sets the style, pattern and integrity of the team. I have always thought that in any sport, the national team should be made up of players and management born of or naturalized to that country.

I think the horse has rather bolted already.

England have a solid track record of using players from other nations in their national teams.

As already pointed out, football already has an example or two.

In rugby there have been a few Antipodeans, Michael Catt, and even a Nigerian!

In cricket it almost seems as if there have been more foreigners than Englishman playing for England.

Current captain is a South African, as were a few past ones (Alan Lamb, Tony Greig), not to mention the Smith Brothers, Strauss and others.

Hoonestly, I think you're suffering from a bit of a delusion on this issue, but I suppose that's how you feel, so no harm done.

I don't agree with you wrighty, Kepler Wessels played for the australian cricket team because he didn't have an opportunity to represent S.Africa.

If Almunia will give it his all, whats wrong with that? So many migrate from this county or that & then actually contribute to the overall economy of the said country.
