Tottenham are about to sign Dos Santos, who is Mexican. Arsenal have recalled Carlos Vela, who is Mexican.
So who has the better Mexican?
Watching Spanish football last season its clear to see that both are talented players and have a good future ahead of them.
I think Vela is an exciting prospect and could become the real deal. Dos Santos looks exciting too, but if he is that good why are Barcelona only selling him for £4.7 million with the fee rising to £8.8 million?
There are rumours that he is a party animal and a troubling influence off the pitch, but that surely isn't enough to sell him on at such a paltry price.
If all the hype is true about Dos Santos then Barca wouldn't have sold him for such a small price. Somethings not right there. So maybe we haven't missed out.
But that doesn't stop me thinking that Tottenham have a real snip there.
Vela looks class and I think he could become a great Arsenal player. He excites me and seems to have his feet firmly on the ground. Perhaps this is where Dos Santos go's wrong?
They are best mates and maybe thats the real reason Dos Santos signed for Spurs. To be close to his mate.
It can't be because he's ambitious, or he would have joined a decent team! ;)
Keep it Goonerish...........

ron and yaya for hleb thats wat we need. wenger is very able to get ron back 2 hes best trust me that would be not only good 4 the club but would be even better 4 the fans. yaya is a strong midfield inforcer and is sueted to everything we r about.so if wenger could get this deal done this would replace 2 good players with 1 world footballer ov the year and 1 player who has all the ingreedents to be a top midfielder. and 4 the people who say this could,nt happen think how much hleb worth and then think about how much barsa would wont. might even get some money on top.Ha! Ha!
Yaya is a strong midfield inforcer yes I agree and what's more he is going to get better, so Yaya for Hleb is good enough, bring in Nasri to replace Hleb and Mertesacker at the back and we are good to go.
Wrighty, the fact is... if he was that good, he'd go for a lot more than £4.8 million! If he was that good... we would have signed him.
Milan are after Ade or Berbatov... I wonder who they will get? haha!
Did you read Arsene ask why he had to assure the fans over Cesc and Ade?
How about because you said Hleb was staying... and Thierry the year before!
Lets hope Wenger sticks to his guns!
Cheers!
Well done fellow comment people. You managed to completely ignore the point of the article and go off on your own little world.
i'm mexican, and trust me Vela is going to be better than Gio...all the kid needs is regular Arsenal football
Wrighty I can't help but be amazed that not only did Spurs manage to land this guy - but that they managed to land him at such a great price. I was there to watch Dos Santos and Vela play for Mexico at last summer's U19 World Cup in Canada. I watched 2 of Mexico's games live and the others on TV. Let me tell you that Dos Santos was a different class completely to everyone else at the tournament (bar maybe Kun Aguerro). He broke into a Barcelona team stacked with phenomenal attacking talent and didn't look out of place at all. He scored a couple of goals from the bench and a hatrick in his last game. Thierry has nothing but glowing praise for this guy and talks about how he will be a great player. I have to admit I'm both shocked and jealous that spurs managed to pull this off. Because its Spurs I hope he doesn't do well but I know he will be sensational over the next few seasons. Mark my words.
Dos Santos 4.8m
Aaron Ramsey 5m
any wonder why Wenger doesnt buy British!?
Dos Santos is absolute rubbish. 3 goals all season and that came via a Pennant like hattrick in the last game of the season. He has no understanding of the offside law and cannot see a pass. Like the impossibly difficult to spell Taarbt, Spurs will talk him up without any evidence.
By the way, I love it how Spurs are signing youngsters not to develop and school them into the right way of playing but for their resale value to make a profit as they will inevitably leave for better clubs
Obviously is Dos Santos no brainer really
Am mexican through and through and although i'm a gunner through and through too......... it pains me to say that dos santos is light years ahead of vela! He has lit up every level he has played at for mexico and hasn't done too bad at barca concidering he only made the step up from barca B late last season.
all that said, it will make little difference as they will still never make top 4
I think you've all missed the point. Dos Santos is a quality player, no doubt. However, at Barca he wasn't going to get regular games and they are looki to offload fringe players. Dos Santos' only goals were in a meaningless final game v a very poor side so he's hardly prolific. Importantly, the lad, I'm informed, is carrying an injury which meant a serious medical at Spurs. Overall, I'm pleased we got Vela but at £4.7m Spurs have taken a sensible risk on GDS
The package goes up to £8.7M (£4.8M + £3.9M depending on appearences etc.) with 20% marketing and 10% resale (if spurs sell him on) also going back to barca ....
Dos Santos only scored 4 goals for Barca, and 3 of those were in his last game. He will have to improve on that alot to compete with Vela, he would have had far better service at Barca than Vela would have had at Osasuna and lets be honest, the service available to him is only going to get worse at Spurs. I think he is a bit Hleb-esque - no end product. Both good prospects though.
Having watched both of them closely in La Liga last season, I reckon neither will make it at highest level but being a gooner i do hope that Vela does make it, has a lot to improve on though!
I hope your stadium burns down.
