My wish has come true!........

Its seems that my wish has come true. The other day I wrote that I couldn't see the logic in sending out Johan Djourou on loan and that maybe Big Phil should be sent out instead.

Milan have stepped in and taken Philippe Senderos on loan for a year. This move is great for Arsenal and Big Phil.

Senderos has great potential but doesn't seem to be able to cut it at Arsenal and in particular the Premiership. The football in the Premiership is very fast compared to Italy and I feel that he will thrive in a league with a slower pace.

The move will help to freshen up his career which was in danger of stagnating. I really hope he does well at Milan and gets the games that he deserves.

I've always wanted Philippe to do well as he is a nice guy but I always had that nagging doubt at the back of my mind that a mistake was due at anytime. Perhaps a season of regular football at a top-class level will help his concentration and his career can push on.

I wonder whether he will return to Arsenal. My gut feeling says that his stay at the Rossoneri will become permanent in the future. I think he will enjoy it at Milan and will want to remain there.

Serie A will suit his game. A slower tempo brings the best out of Philippe and he can become one of the best defenders in Italy. I've always fancied his chances more in Italy than in England.

I'm disappointed he has gone but it is for the best really. As much as I want him to become the next Tony Adams it's not going to happen. He will do well at Milan and I wish him luck and thank him for the good times he had in the Arsenal shirt.

Good luck Big Phil!

Keep it Goonerish.............

Very well written. Senderos will perform at higher heights in Italy. He never quite grasped English football and looked out of place in an Arsenal shirt at times but I wish him luck with his new club.

Thank fuck he's gone! I wont be crying!

Nice blog - great entry - I think you some up very well the feelings of those who were disappointed by his mistakes and hoped he'd do better.. Nice guy - with lots of potential - I say good luck Phil.

That's everything that's wrong with Arsenal fans! Who's your scapegoat now? Phil's a great Arsenal player, and I hope it doesn't become a permanent deal!

Phil is a gr8 player and is used as a scape goat. He needs regular football to be a good player. the problem with him is that he isn't highly rated at Arsenal and all that pressure isn't good for him. i would have preferred if he went to another team, where he would definately play every week, but hopefully Ac Milan would give him a gd run in the team.

Good luck Senderos and hope to see you pre-season next year, challenging for Gallas's position

Excellent piece. Says it all.

I hope he can use this move to help his experience and come back as a stronger centre-half, many people wont agree but i think he is the type of centre back we need, a taller centre half with decent heading ability, thats what our defence doesnt have at present. OK fair enough he has made his fair share of errors, but so has Bill and Kolo but I don't relly hear many people calling them a disgrace to the shirt. I'm not saying they are, but they have been let off sometimes in the past, most of the time when they have made mistakes, somebodies covered and dug them out of a hole. Whereas with Phil when he's made mistakes, we've been punished for it. Most people still hate him for that error he made playing against Chelski as a right back, not a very familiar position for him, where he made a mistake and we let slip a 1-nil lead, then they went on to win the game. He will do well in Milan and Serie A, but his Prem career is far from over.

Nice blog Wrighty,
Gunner #1

yeah, he'll probably turn into a decent player out there

as long as Drogba don't sign for some other team out there

the italuan league is becoming faster

hopefully its slow enough for senderos to thrive and fast enough for him to grasp the english game

he has potential as two people

TONY ADAMS or TITUS BRAMBLE

lets hope he realises his potential as Mr Arsenal

Great blog wrighty

Yeh good luck, he'll must probably win something. More than what can be said of us. He ain't coming back!

Great blog - I like Phil but unfortunately football has moved on. 15 years ago a centre half with pace was a great benefit - Now pace is essential. I think Phil makes the same amount of mistakes as most centre backs of his age. Unfortunately, when he makes them he does not have the pace to recover and then make a last ditch tackle (unlike a young Toure or Campbell) - good luck Phil

one thing phil has over our other so called centre halfs...he never dodged a tackle!

Anonymous said...

phil never hid from the stick given to him week in week out ,he gave 100% every time he pulled the shirt on ! can gallas(the worst defender at arsenal) and toure(the man gone backwards) say the same ?

Anonymous said...

I agree that Phil is a good defender. Don't forget, Phil and Toure have the record for longest clean sheet in CL history (with Lehmann of course). He could play with either Toure or Gallas, both of whom can't play together.

With this defensive setup and Aluminia in goal we will win NOTHING!

lets get rid of all our players. after all we only need 11

thanks god is gone, i still cant belive he has gone , the best thing that has happen to arsenal so far, thank you arsen for leting him go. he is so shit, error prone , we lost the cl game cos of him against liverfull, and the league against boring south west cunts chelsea, drobga must be kicking himself now , lol , cos he is gone now ,

I can't believe some of you people. Whatever else you can say about the guy, he gave everything he had out on the pitch and that's more that a lot of the current crop of pussies that are supposed to be captai...er playing for our team.

And do you really think Milan would be interested in someone as bad as you think he is?

Well said Rob! Keep saying it, maybe some of these idiot will take note!

GREAT ARTICLE

I remember the donkey taunts when Big Tony played. He made some howlers too when he was developing. I think Senderos could have made it given a decent run. His heart was in it. Looking at the team on Saturday, we just might have won that game rather than thrown it away if more players had played with their hearts too. Talent without heart is nothing - take note Billy.

AW will never let senderos go...a swiss international at 20yrs. Senderos will be captain of arsenal before cesc...who wants to bet!!! He'll replace gallas in 2yrs time.

All you idiots that have prayed for him to go wanna hope it doesn't come back and bite you on your arses.
He was a player that gave 100% each time he played and never shirked a tackle. He is an Arsenal player and never forgot that.

Neal your right they have to have a scapegoat.....wonder who they are going to try and hound out of the club now.
I hope he gets regular football at AC and comes back a better player for it.

Anonymous said...

The question is, why couldn't he develop into a better player at AFC, he's had plenty of games and plenty of chances?

and eboue stays????? wtf
still ....good for us and good for him
anyone who gets beat by hyypia should either be close to retiring or playing for the spuds

...He'll be back...

In the great words of the Terminator,
Senderos is a great #3 central defender never complaining he's never playing, and giving it all when he has the opportunity.

This attitude is what any club loves and that's why Phil was called up. I think Djourou could easily pull a flamini or a diarra on us while Senderos has too much integrity

Well said. Him & Kolo how i remember the last season at highbury 10 champions league clean sheets into the final he is sloppy at times but i thank him for what hes done at the club. Good Luck Senderos.

if a defender makes a mistake, it's probably a goal. YOung players like senderos are inconsistent and make mistakes. He could have a blinder for 89 minutes, make one mistake, give away a goal and we call for his head. Not the same for a midfileder or striker. My point is that Big Phil is gonna improve with age - look at Tony Adams, Keown, Ferdinand - they all added consistency only in their late 20's. I think this is what will do. He'll be brilliant aged about 28.

Lets not overly enthuse re the fact that error prone Phil is off to AC, whats new at the Emirates?? Answer = A Manc reject. Opps sorry!! an experienced Manc reject.

Anonymous said...

Hope he returns to us but i just can,t see it t was Gallas who was at fault for the goal on Sat and he just didn,t look intrested and this is or capt he as no idea how to get the best out of his team mates and never shouts or talks to his defence

Senderos will thrive in Italian football no doubt. I think he gone for good because Wenger said it hasn't been decided wether its permanent or not. To me that means that he doesn't want him back. Otherwise he would have said it was just a loan.

Personally i wanted him to stay. Although he does make mistakes he was one of my prefered defenders. He only did so bad last year because he only got a game here and there, never a solid run in the team. A run in a team would soon see him iron out his stupid mistakes.

Hopefully Maldini and co can help make him better and Wenger will take him back instead of Gallas.

ive always thought that senderos had the right qualities to make it at arsenal his main problem are technical ones and his mentally what better team to learn the art of defending than at ac Milan he will learn to defend the Italian way but still play our way if wenger is smart he will being him back after a year the difference will be there for all to see

All you who are praising he left need a good kick up the arse! You obviously just became Arsenal fans yesterday! I guess you forgot the run we had in the CL with him and Toure! If you want proof look at the stats...last season we lost less games and conceded fewer goals with Senderos in defense, unlike that idiot Gallas! I hope he gets great experience and comes back, because if Gallas is here one more season I'm gonna knock somebody out! Good luck Big Phil!

Big Phil suffered because of the arrival of Gallas, just like we all have...

Anonymous said...

Gallas should be sho in the face so that Senderos can renew his brilliant partnership with Toure or even Djourou. As long as Song or Gallas dont play CB i dont really mind.

Anonymous said...

the reason why galles isnt playing well is because he's came to us thinking he is our best defender but now realises thats not the case both toure and galles should be fighting to partner senderos but as i said before he as some techincal issues as do toure and galles but if wenger keeps faith in senderos he will offer alot more next year slivstre can do a good job he awareness is excellent postioning and heading the big plus is he knows all the old and new players at man u very well by the way song is ready for dm give him 4 games in that role and you will see djourou needs to play right now

One of those weakness is senderos cant turn on to his weaker side when in danger or being run down I have see it many many times Milan will fix this issue because first and for most ac need everyone in any position to be comfortable in whatever situation if you are not quick then this is a must we are not good at training players to do that because that’s not wengers strength, unfortunately are defensive coaches are not addressing this issue and that goes for gallas and toure especially toure who if coach by a tony Adams or lee Dixon Steve bold, mad man martin would easily be the best defender in the league why are some of these guys working as sports pundits when we need them to school are team in the art of defending
