01/11/2008 R.I.P title bid

This isn't an over-reaction and I'm sorry to say this but I really feel that the title race is now over for Arsenal.

Chelsea and Manchester United are beginning to look like machines and Liverpool look like the real deal for a change. We don't.

I really hope that I'm wrong but the evidence is clear. We are not good enough. What side with title ambitions goes to Stoke City, and doesn't even test the keeper for the whole of the second half?

We looked out of sorts, out of ideas and conceded TWO goals from throw-ins. That is Stokes main danger! Wasn't the players aware of this???

I mean no disrespect to Stoke City, they deserved their victory and credit must go to them for that, but spare a thought for every Gooner that went up to Stoke today. They did not deserve to see that shit. They didn't deserve to see an Arsenal side who looked disinterested but that's what they got.

I'm not calling for Arsene Wenger's head but I want him to take a good look at himself in the mirror after today's performance. There can be no more excuses about how young the side is, Arsene, you built the side, YOU are the reason we lack experience.

The players need to look at themselves too. They play for a club with high standards and right now they aren't performing to those standards.

Keep it Goonerish..............

poor grammar wrighty. check before you post please.

i agree though... we are crap and in truth never really were in this title race.

our race is for 4th spot, and that is going to be tough.

we will beat fenerbahce on wednesday, and arsene will say we are 'back on track'. unfortunately that is not the case. our premiership title 'chances' have been derailed effective immediately.

it is a shame, but life goes on.

I am so depressed- Ade sulked more than Henry ever did, and is only a 1/10th of the class. Cesc has lost his passion. Dark days loom :(

Is Cesc suspended after his 5th yellow card for ManUre and does Walcott's injury look bad? Don't care about Ade

F**k the spelling, who can even think about spelling at this moment.

Wrighty, you are absolutely correct. Arsene built this team without interference from the Board and therefore must now take full responsibility for for their failure.

I have said in many blogs that Arsene made a huge gamble this season in not replacing the likes of Flamini, Gilberto, Diarra and Hleib and obviously his gamble has failed miserably.

Arsene said we have potential

Dear Arsene we have "FUCK ALL " especally any bollocks Either the team changes or you DO!

Per my previous experience with AW & current board, they'll come out to talk some c**k later by saying we'll give AW monies to spend in coming transfer window... AW wouldn't give up by saying "the season still a long way to go, based on calculation we still got chance to win it". Then they all would boast on how grand is the plan they have for Gunner... How much ambitious they are. When it come to opening of transfer window, gossip is flaring that Cesc etc is leaving, AW wouldn't spend "for fear it would bring negative influence to existing young players" & "current young team have the ability to win trophies", PHW will come out on & off boasting "we got money for AW to spend" bla bla bla... Season comes, season goes... No trophies come, players go....

yeh you are right meteor.

to not buy a defensive central midfielder was always going to be a huge error an it has been proved.

big gamble, ultimate loss?

he has to buy in january.

All I can say is "BULLSHIT WENGER YOU MADE THIS MESS SO FIX IT!!"
I personally think it's time for Arsene to leave, Arsenal are getting worse and worse. Imagion what we'll be in a few years if he stays??? No defensive mifielder no decent attacking midfielder (Fabregas left) and finally a shit defence. We'll end up a mid table club if this carries on. I have tried to put faith in Wenger but he is useless.
!!GET WENGER OUT!!

we are shit. not because we have bad players but because we have no heart , no passion, no balls. everybody in the premier knows how to beat us. just show a bit of passion and guts and we run away like small girls. the only passion the likes of adebadplayer has shown is when he headbutted bentner and ran behind gallas to hide. get this coward out of arsenal he is a lazy useless big time charlie

i still think arsenal are not quite out of thetitle race but they have put them selves ad massive disadvantege,i feel weather arsenal can win the title will depend on what wenger does in tranfer market, what is very clear is that arsenal need big tough central defender like a sole cambell and we must change captain because is not vergood one,has anyone notised that all our midfielder shave been been given a rest accept fab which indicates to me a clear lack leadership and very lightweight midfield,i feel song and delnson is not good enough wenger must buy an experiened midfielder badly and arsenal also clearly missing risisky.i must say am very disappointed with the team,i thought the young players would have been evon stronger from there form of last season, but i have seen alot of complaisentsy and today there was no fight about them clear lack of desier and clearly lack leadership and experience

Fuck the grammer this is football not university

No pace, no power, no pride, no blood, no guts, no anything.

We are not good enough.

Theres only one Jose Mourinho.

We need a winner in charge at arsenal, not a stubborn egotistical maniac.

we need a team that matches the stadium and the prices we all pay.

we need a manager and a board that are as ambitious as the fans and wenger needs to stop talking shit.

Denilson? Song? Dont make me fucking laugh.

Toures shite and adebayor, dont get me started. RVP? fuck you mate.

Time to chamge the policy or time to change the manager.

Anonymous said...

leon, i think you need to use spell check. and what you have said is obvious to everyone except arsene, unfortunately.

cant believe what wenger is doing.who was our best players on wed nite.lets see,ah rvp, walcot , nasri.ill know wat we,ll do .we,ll drop them.why? because this guy has a long throw in. u couldnt make it up. what happens ?u guessed it. lose 2 goals to along throw in. when do we go to a place like stoke and change our team because we are terrified of some guys throwin. lost the will to live with this manager its time for a change. today was the last straw

We are all disappointed with results this season. All - manager, coaches and players have contributed to this patchy start to the season and all need to get some pride in themselves and this great club. The fans need to support the Arsenal shirt for we cannot change who fill the shirts. Success or failure can sometimes be just down to the players mindset. Support wether from the stands at matches or on the pages of various websites. Success is never given you have to work for the good things in life. dispair that we are feeling now will make the winning of silverware all the greater. As a supporter of 45 years I have seen far worse than what we are seeing now. See possitives and support.

we need 2 world class centre halfs;a world class defensive midfielder.a centre forword to put the ball in the f..kin net not that useless ade and his showboatin mate rvp who miss chance after chace every f,,kin week. its not fukin rocket science

rubbish leon . this current crop of players are a bunch of fairys and the rest of the premiership knows it and are laughin at us i. dread man u next week.

We all want Wenger out, I know he's done a brilliant job at Arsenal but that was in the past (his young age). Now he seems to be getting old and loosing his footballing knowledge. All us fans and players want is to win, yes win, we don't care about "the beatiful game". Lets just win. Wenger should resign and we should use some of Usmanovs cash!!
The problem is Wenger will never leave, the board licks his ass and he still thinks he's a mint manager which he is'nt.
We should protest in the next home game.
"GET WENGER OUT!!"
"GET WENGER OUT!!"
"GET WENGER OUT!!"
"GET WENGER OUT!!"

AGAINST MAN URE ARE WE NOT GOING TO HAVE CESC (6 YELLOWS) ALSO RVP IS SUSSPENDED, ADE ND WALCOTT ARE INJURED.
WTF ARE WE GOING TO DO???
GET BATTERED THATS WHAT.
BERBATOV, TEVEZ, RONALDO, ROONEY, NANI, ANDERSON ALL RUNNING AT US WHAT WILL HAPPEN?????

Wrighty7 said...

I don't think sacking Wenger is the answer.

If we sacked Wenger then we would be in a far worse position.

Anonymous said...

Ok Wrighty7, what do you suggest should happen then?
Do you think we should pay high prices and watch our team get beat week in week out??

Wrighty7 said...

We don't get beaten week-in, week-out do we?

Listen, I'm as pissed off as any Gooner.

We all know that the side needed improving in the summer, even Wenger did otherwise he wouldn't have tried signing Alonso or Toure.

Now it was Wenger's fault he didn't try to improve the squad earlier but I think he will see the error of his ways and WILL improve the squad.

If we sack Wenger, we will be in a far worse position then we are now. Arsenal don't do panic sacking, we'll leave that to Tottenham.

Anonymous said...

I'll have to beieve you Wrighty, and try and put a little faith in Wenger.

Anonymous said...

Wrighty, if we continue like this then wenger will be forced out by the fans.

We hear his excuses all the time but we are growing tired.

we pay for the most expensive tickets in the league to watch a second rate side that cant defend or put the ball into the net without having 20 chances 1st. the average fan is now priced out of watching the club he loves in favour of somebody in a suit, and wenger complains about lack of noise.

he doesnt buy any experience or any defence minded players and then he moans abut maturity and determination.

it all double standards , its everyone elses fault but his, yet he created this mess.

we have gone from transition to stagnation and we hear the same lies every week.

formations, line ups transfer dealings have all gone to pot this season and its all down to wenger.

once this season is over, and if we are trophyless again, wenger has to step down and the prices slashed cos we are being ripped off big time.

Anonymous said...

Whats everyone so upset about this week. It was clear after the Fulham game that we were never going to be up to it.
We will still be in transition next season and the one after etc. A feeder club for the Real Madrids, Barcelonas of this world is where our future lies. Siverware? Poss the carling cup in years to come will delight as it did with that crowd down the road.
Lets get real

OPEN LETTER TO ARSENE:

I for one am no longer a member of the "Arsene Knows" brigade.
I'm not calling for Wenger's head, like some morons, online... BUT THE BLOKE HAS SOME FUCKING SERIOUS QUESTIONS TO ANSWER... LIKE:

WHY IS IT ACCEPTABLE TO CHARGE US THE HIGHEST TICKET PRICES IN EUROPE AND ANNOUNCE RECORD PROFITS EVERY YEAR... YET NOT REPLACE PLAYERS WHO LEAVE IN THEIR DRONES?!! NOT A SINGLE FUCKING ONE!!!
SINCE JAN. 08, WE HAVE LOST 3 CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS... AND NO FUCKING REPLACEMENTS!!!!
IT'S PRETTY OBVIOUS FOR ALL TO SEE, TOURE & GALLAS DON'T WORK... SO HE SHIPS OUT SENDEROS TO MILAN & GETS IN A 32 YEAR OLD, MANC HAS BEEN FOR PITTANCE!

I love the bloke! He's a living legend and has single handily transformed our football club, but this season, he has completely lost the plot, due to his own stubbornness...
LOST TO: FULHAM, HULL CITY & STOKE CITY
SHOULD HAVE LOST TO: FC TWENTE (A) & SUNDERLAND
GOT OUT OF JAIL AGAINST: WBA, FENERBACHE & EVERTON
THROWN AWAY: KEIV & SPURS

Is that good enough for a club like Arsenal Football Club, when most people in football can see we've actually had quite an easy run so far, this season?

Wenger is in big, BIG danger of throwing away his legacy due to his own stubbornness... and it's a crying shame! For the past few years, I've backed him to the hilt but after his pathetic excuses after the summer transfer window closed, I can't do it anymore Arsene!

YOUR TEAM FULL OF "POTENTIAL & GREAT SPIRIT" (HOW MANY YEARS HAVE WE HEARD THIS NOW?) AIN'T CUTTING IT! ACCEPT IT, OR EVEN THE MOST HARDENED GOONERS, WILL TURN ON YOU!!!!

PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG... :(

Stuff the grammar shit.

Wrighty, you are right. i woke up every morning just to watched the game because i'm from AU and we get shit result and what the hell going on with RVP head tonite, got red card for that stupidity act. After Spud game and then this, what the f**k going on???

We can just say goodbye to the title race now and Arsene just concentrate on the Champ League mate.

arsenal fans all we can do is hope that wenger swollows is pride buy a few players,i feel arsenals strongest players in midfield is risisky, fab and diaby, song is not ready yet very raw delinson is a good sup player nothing more,i saw the hilights for arsenal match i very suprised by just how poore toure is at dealing with aerial attacks, sylvestor is quite good but for eithor gallas or toure has got to go,i would have to say gallas, although he is very quick mobile defender i dont see what he brings athat toure doesent, arsenal need a camading defender that can deal with set plays mabey try use song and dijouro more often but one is for shore gallas is a terrible captain. another that worries me is how tired fab looks,he has clearly been played far to many times which demonstrates to me that he does not have faith in rest of the players to cammond the midfield.fab looks a shadow of the players he was last year mainly beacuse he has had carry delinson alot of the time.arsenals next match in the chapions legue is must win to get there confedence back because they face manu, but we have alot of injuries,no fab, wilcatt and no ade

Spot on Wrighty, glad to see you're not jumping on the sack Wenger bandwagon. He's having a tough time of it, but some of the criticism aimed at him is harsh.

First the players that we 'lost'. Flamini wanted £60k a week, which Wenger did not want to pay him. He had one, admittedly great, season in midfield, following a few seasons in other positions or on the bench. I don't blame Wenger for letting him go. Hleb is an amazing dribbler, he was the best in the league. However he has no end product and wanted to go, so fuck him. Gilberto was offered a decent deal by Panathinaikos and Wenger didn't stand in his way, that's fair enough. Senderos was, and indeed still is, shite. Glad he was let go.

Wenger did try and sign replacements, particularly for Gilberto/Flamini. Alonso, Yaya Toure and Gokhan Inler were all approached. They either didn't want to join us or their clubs wouldn't sell them. In the end he wasn't going to waste money at rip-off prices like certain other teams, and I admire him for that.

I think a lot of the people slagging him off are the same people who didn't give a fuck about Arsenal pre-Wenger. If you people want to support a team that plays shit football but spunks stupid money on overrated players go and support Chelsea or Man City.

If Wenger can keep these youngsters together they will be a force to be reckoned with in the next year or two. These shitty results are never good, but they can be learned from. I thought the league was a bit of a reach for us this season, but I am surprised at how disappointing we've been. The answer to this is not to sack Wenger, we'll go backwards without him. You can also wave goodbye to Cesc in the summer if Wenger leaves.

It is quite sickening for us all that after just 11 prem games we have lost 3 (and 1 loss being at home), to 2 of the new boys (and by the way i went to see Col U v Stoke last season and they were poor!).
Where do we go from here? After all, the season is still relatively new - time on our side and all that...

1/ With Keown possibly going/gone to pompey - get a quality additional 'defensive' coach to help out AW and PR NOW!

2/ Sure, Almunia has made some great saves, but he's also been caught out on too many occasions - give Fabianski a chance in a prem game. OK not against the Mancs, but soon!

3/ Tell fxxxing Adebayor to ditch his blxxdy Togo wristbands for when he wears the arsenal shirt 7 save it for when he plays for his country - have respect man!
