Is Arsene Wenger right or wrong about Delap?

I've read that Arsene Wenger wants a time restriction on throw in's made by the likes of Rory Delap.

I'll admit that the throws are ugly and they do disturb the games flow but it's part of football.

They are a vital part of Stoke City's armoury. Stoke may survive on the back of these "set-pieces".

At the end of the day Arsenal were out done by something we should have been aware of.

We knew that Delap was going to launch throws into the box and we didn't defend them well enough.

Yes, it's not pretty but it works for Stoke and although I don't like to see the throws, I say good luck to them if it helps them stay up.

I think this is a little bit of sour-grapes here from Wenger here!

What do you think?

Keep it Goonerish...............

just another weak excuse by a French Manager whose ideas are old, stale and foolish.

Whether you like it or not, it is part of the game and if they winning by those set pieces, good for them.

"just another weak excuse by a French Manager whose ideas are old, stale and foolish."

i dont understand how his ideas are particularly old or stale, foolish perhaps, but thats more debateable

i also dont understand why the fact that hes french is worth mentioning...

There is probably not a player in the league who takes longer to take a throw in than Gael Clichy, so I don't think Wenger can make a deal out of this. It's amazing how long it takes for him to throw the ball, amazing he don't seem to get any yellow cards for it.

I love him, but he should stop whinging! Get over it! the throw - ins work. Ugly? Yes, but undone us

I think Mr Wenger finds things difficult to stomach when it's not beautiful! ;)

He will stomach ugly if we win, as against Man U in the cup

That win against United WAS beautiful.

The Reyes got sent off!

Yes, it was beautiful, but ugly!!!

It was probably the ugliest performance I've seen from Arsenal in years!

Talk about a loaded question. All you are doing by asking such a question is inviting people to have a pop at the man. Who gives a fuck about Rory Delapp some journalist was probably giving Wenger a loaded question anyway, lets look forward and cut all this negative crap Arsenal is a fucking amazing club run the right way with dignity and doesnt whore itself to foreigners or gamble with its future. Wenger has constructed an amazingly talented team that will be one of the dominant forces in Europe for years to come for less than the Sunderland team cost to build. Everything he does is for the club. The amount of flak the man has been getting recently is a complete joke and is nearly always from people who have completely unrealistic expectations of what is possible in what is the most competitive league in the world and who, quite simply, underestimate just how good this team can be. It's about time people on these blogs started sticking up for the club and realising just how good they've got it - I thank my lucky stars every day to support such a great club as Arsenal and would rather die than associate myself with the kind of glory hunting prawn sandwich munchers at stamford bridge who think it is their right to win everything every year and who seem to be popping up on these 'Arsenal' blogs. TRUE GOONERS STICK BEHIND THEIR TEAM THROUGH THICK AND THIN

So by unrealistic expectations you mean that us fans are asking too much for Wenger to improve the squad?

He let 2 of our best players from last season go and basically brought in a young Nasri. We are a football club in the business of winning trophies but Wenger doesnt seem to be doing anything to help us do so.

Fair enough we came close last season but AW got lucky with Flamini and that was effectively Hlebs only good season here. Also coming £rd wins you nothing. Coming close gets you fuck all.

And you must be a real idiot to want to die instead of being a Chelsea fan. Dont be so fucking ridiculas and other dramatic.

On a lighter note Wrighty, about your post : I do think Wenger is wring. He should spend more time worrying about his own team, not other teams tactics. They work and are legal so just get over it. (sorry thats so long :)

No probs Stu!

Where did you read this?

Someone should be doing monkey face n donkey dance in front of Delap before the throw, within legal distance ofcos. Total football requires total flexibility.

He has a point. I see players get hurried up when taking a throw in, but Delap gets all the time in the world.

I think that what delap does is legal. Wenger should concentrate on ensuring that the arsenal players can take legal throw-ins. At least 3 of Djourou's throws were foul throws against kiev in midweek

2-1 or 2-0,

You were right, well done. Bit of help from the linesman, but thats football!!

One shot on goal from Chelsea, without Drogba they are nowhere near as effective. YAHOOO
