Liverpool scare the life outta me!

Everything about Liverpool scares me, Gerrard, Benitez, Torres, Crouch, their European history, everything, the whole package.

In fact I'm so scared that we drew Liverpool I think that Arsenal should not even turn up tonight and give Liverpool a bye into the next round!

I am of course talking shite. But if you believe what some people are saying, then this is how we should be feeling.

Sure Liverpool have a great European history and will be a very difficult side to play, they seem to reserve their best for Europe, and in Torres they have a wonderful player bang in form.

But we are Arsenal. We should fear no-one, respect yes, but fear, NO!

I think Liverpool love to cling on to the tag of being European masters, let them do this. They may take their eye off the game itself while believing their own European hype.

As much as Liverpool seem to play their best in Europe, we seem to reserve our best when the big games come along. And this game is HUGE!

After the confidence boosting victory over Bolton I expect Arsenal to be right up for this game and go straight for Liverpool's throats. Expect a very positive start from Arsenal and an early goal would be just what the doctor ordered.

It is vital though that we don't concede tonight. Even if we don't score then 0-0 is a good result to build on for the second leg. I'd always fancy us to go to Anfield and get a goal.

If we keep the ball like we did at Anfield earlier in the season then I think we will progress through. The Liverpool players looked cream-crackered after that game and it's no surprise after chasing shadows for the most part of the day.

The next twelve days are the biggest in Wengers Arsenal career and I'm sure that he and his Arsenal side will be up to the challenge. It will be difficult but I think Arsenal may just surprise a few people in the coming fortnight.

I've a feeling that tonight's game will provide the best atmosphere that the Emirates has ever heard. It will be a roof raiser and could well be a turning point in future games!

Lets get it on!!!!

Keep it Goonerish.......

liverpool are the best i think there going to win the champions league

Its the usual banter that happens before any game like this - just a bit better natured then the old Rafa / Jose days when we played chelski all the time!

Its going to be tricky, tight and hopefully entertaining!

but on bringing up the anfield match you shot yourself in the foot - an injured torres for 45 minutes was bad enough, but the game changed when Xabi went off injured too...

You are the first person i have heard talking about Liverpool's former European glory, certainly no-one in Liverpool is. So it obviously means something to you if you are the one bringing it up. Concentrate on your own team and focus on them instead of focusing on other teams.

Not going to say if we will or won't win tonight, I don't do predictions. However I beleive this is the best time to play Arsenal. 1 win in the past 6 says it all and against Bolton the so called "great comeback" was more about a poor Bolton side lacking belief.
As for the comments on the Anfield game, what were YOU watching?? Liverpool were by far the better side even in the first half with a nowhere near fit Torres. And you were playing your best then. For this reason I am confident tonight.

Well well Arsenal have had a great season and have some great players but i agree two major peopl were injured during that game. But Europe is our stomping ground your just another team for us to beat steve G will see to that but i hope its a good game. Only difference between arsenal and Liverpool is 1 place and thats all your going to win the same as us nothing

Sounds like this article was written by a child.

Liverpool 2-0 Arsenal

Game, set and match.

The best atmosphere you have ever seen! Well that just about sums it up, after all it's only a quarter final of the CL, LIverpool do this every year. You enjoy your special night, enjoy. Its another European away game for Liverpool.

Anonymous said...

did u watch the anfield game really or did your mate dave who read about it in the sun tell you about it , chasing shadows! we dominated the first half then faded wen losing 2 players through injury , to then lose an undeserved goal

Anonymous said...

I'd rather have had Arsenal in the final and I'm glad you've already ended your losing streak (we have a habit of helping teams in those situations). But I expect a tight game and whatever has happened in the past is in the past, Two great teams in a great competition!

Anonymous said...

Where are all these scousers coming from? Your team is crap, the only reason you do so well in CL is cos you just close up shop like a team fighting off relegation and hope that your great saviour Steven G, comes to the rescue. Well now you have two saviours the wonderful torres, who is the only thing that makes me a little nervous, but if Gallas and co are on their game, he isnt going to get a sniff. Expect long spells of Arsenal possession and huge punts up field for Torres to chase all night!! Arsenal 3 nil by HT!

Anonymous said...

3-0 by half time....I seem to remember being there before....we won that one as well!!

Anonymous said...

2-1 Liverpool tonight...

Torres to score both..

Frichie, you are a dick mate!!

its that arrogant attitude that makes the rest of Britian hate southerners!! I hope Liverpool hammer you in all 3 games.

Arsenal will bottle it as usual. You guys just haven't got the balls!

and... that galas...he is like a woman again a captain wil no cahunas!!

Anonymous said...

I wonder what Arsene Whinger will have to whinge about this time after not seeing things that are not in his favour!

Anonymous said...

Strange forces will be at work tonight. Well worth watching. I'll be interested to see if Hleb has an "incident".

I'm not going to have a go at Arsenal because I respect the football they play and I respect Wenger but I really do think one or two Arsenal supporters are underestimating us. Our whole mentality changes when we play in Europe, even when we play English teams, and we seem to find an extra gear. I wish we could do this in the league because that is the one I want most but we will just have to make do with our European exploits for now. We always seem to play better when we are perceived as the underdogs and I hope Arsenal get Hyped up because this will see the best come out of ourselves.

Who will win the tie? I really don't know. I think we will score at the Emirates but I also believe Arsenal will score at Anfield. This is going to be a very very tight tie and should be an entertaining one as well, unlike the dire Chelsea games we have played in the past. This should be a cracker and it is refreshing not having both clubs slinging mud at each other like there has been in the past when we have faced British clubs in the Champions League.

fuck off scouse cunts

My poodle, Arsene had an "incident" in the park this afternoon. Now I am scared!

Anonymous said...

as i see it it all depends on who scores first, if arsenal score they will need to get the second to kill the tie off and look forward to league game which they will go on to win and probably hold out for a draw in return leg at anfield that is if they gey the second, if liverpool score first i fear for arsenals season, i can see the wheels dropping off and it all going tits up which is great for us but it hands the title to those pesky mancs

I think it is hopeful be very open attacking lots of goals maybe 3-4 to Liverpool. Shirley said she think will go to the wire but what does she know she is a girl. Ha ha. I think maybe later we will celebrate with a soapy bath together and maybe other everyone can do the same. Lots of bubbles lots of shiny mams. Hope so. Everyone enjoy have great game. Shame about Hleb though. Good lucks to the mighty reds. How am I driving? (after all this vodka I am not so sure myself) ha ha.

I don't think too many gooners are underestimating Liverpool, and it's ARSENAL who are the underdogs in this tie, NOT last year's CL finalists, winner two years ago and five-time winner overall.

We all know that the pool are a different animal in the CL so any gooner who doesn't respect what we're up against is utterly clueless.

That said, I agree with Wrighty7 in that we have no reason to paralyze ourselves into fear for the mighty pool in the CL because frankly the gap in quality between our two teams is not very great. The one thing Pool have that we don't right now is a striker who's on fire and that is a significant gap in quality. But we have proven in the past that we can control players who are on fire like Kaka, Cronaldo and Joe Cole. So it's not impossible for us to control Torres. The team simply HAS to concentrate at their maximum for 90+ minutes. And given our last few games, that is a big ask.

Anonymous said...

I bet the Scouse mugs that have come on here wanna thieve Wrighty7's hubcaps!

Anonymous said...

Hey hey calm down u scouse wankers. U cant cash giro's on wrighty7s site!

Anonymous said...

Fuck me Wrighty, u've been over-run by Scouser's!!! They must have thought u was giving out car radio's! Saves them nicking 'em instead!

Anonymous said...

Typical, you try to engage in a bit of friendly discussion and all the Scouse Stereotype jibes come out. The reason all us 'hub cap' thieves are on here is because it is showing up on the Liverpool Newsnow page.

To Marcus (someone it seems can engage in civilised debate without being childish), I'd rate you as favourites because you have a better team than us at the moment. I'm not going to come out and say we are better because we are not and the League table shows that. Most Red's from around the Liverpool area agree that we are still playing catch up with yourselves, The Russians and the Scum but I think we may actually close the gap in the summer with a decent winger or two. As I said though, I really don't know who is gonna come out on top in this one butter I've just put a tenner on Torres first scorer and 1-1 draw. I'd rather have the win though.

Wrighty7 said...

Anon 13:15, yes I did watch the game at Anfield. I was there, and without sounding arrogent, I came away feeling dejected that we didn't win. I would normally take a point at Anfield as a very good result, but that day we played superb and missed two open goals.

Wrighty7 said...

Joe, Huyton Red. I apoligise if ur offended mate. U seem a pretty sensible geezer, but I think u may have lost that tenner! Ha ha!

Anonymous said...

oh dear, you can tell it's half term by reading some of these comments.

why can't we just talk about the football rather than making childish insults - GROW UP!!!

I'm an LFC fan, it will be a tough game and can go either way. LFC's form is better at the mo but Arsenal play some great football, it's gonna be a good game

Anonymous said...

I think Liverpool's history in Europe is superb. But that will count for nothing tonight. I feel over two-legs Arsenal will have to much for Liverpool and win with a 1-0 agg. Ignore the scouse jibes, not all us Gooners are dickheads so dont tar us all with the same brush please.

Anonymous said...

Liverpool fans have a reputation for being very loud. I hope us Gooners can show them how loud we can be tonite! C'MON GOONERS! Show them! 2-0 to Arsenal

Anonymous said...

Fuck off this Gooner site u scouse fuck heads! Arsenal

northbank said...

Dont know where this Form thing is coming from betting everton 1-0 is hardly form! And whats all this bollox about playing last years finalists... we beat the champions in there own back yard!
Don't think there will be alot in it but fancy RVP to play well tonight and grab a couple. There is nothing to be scared of, keep torres quite and there an't much more that liverpool can throw at us.

Anonymous said...

Agree with Northbank, keep Torres quiet and Liverpool are fucked. I think Wrighty7's right about the atmosphere tonight, its going to be special. Great article.

Anonymous said...

Anon 13:11, it will be a great atmosphere whoever we played tonight. It was David Rocastle's 7th year since passing on the other day. Tonight is his night.

Hoping for a good open game tonight, Torres will shot fear in to hearts of the gunners, they have had a poor run of late just clinching a win against Bolton who are a regulation contenders classed as form!!! is it! Sorry but feel pool the will have the edge over the two legs, 0-0 is written all over this game. As for the gunners stepping up a gear? remember the United game at OT??? yes you will bottled it again! As for the slagging match on this blog gunners have lost that also.

northbank said...

Shame the beast an't hear to score a few more!

Go and nick some hubcaps jeffrey

Wrighty7 said...

Jeffrey do u remember Old Trafford last week? Did u turn up then?

Anonymous said...

Arsenal reserves it for the big games? Like the 0-4 at OT in the Cup? Or recently at Stamford Bridge ... dream on.

Anonymous said...

So, what was the score ?

Anonymous said...

northbank - i think you've made yourself look like a bit of a prat, you don't know where this form thing has come from? Arsenal have only won one in last 7 prem games???????? Liverpool have won 6!!!

you may have beat AC in their own back yard but Liverpool knocked out a team that are TWENTY points ahead of AC in the Italian league!

Anonymous said...

Ha ha well done arsenal for keeping the score to 1 a piece unlucky Anfield here you come for a true teaching by TORRES

northbank said...

Ano 21:53 did you just watch the last ninty mins of football? you team just got away with a draw! liverpool where lucky to make it to the knockout stage and lucky to still be in the tie!

Where was your great striker tonight? subbed!

next week maybe i'll make snide post when i get home from the game. don't feel like a prat feel unlucky we didn't win.

Wrighty7 said...

Too right Northbank.

northbank said...

Talking of Form what was the score last time we played you away in a cup comp?

Anonymous said...

where was your great striker tonight? oh yes he now plays for Barce lol

must admit Arsenal were the better team overall tonight but you blew your chance, if you had some decent finishers you'd of had more goals...but you haven't

will be totally different at Anfield

Anonymous said...

"Talking of Form what was the score last time we played you away in a cup comp?"

means nothing

Anonymous said...

"Will be totally different at Anfield" Why? Its still a football pitch with a round ball!

Anonymous said...

U fucking lucky scouse mugs, u wont be laughing when we bury u at "fortress" Anfield. U are shit and fucking lucky u were not smashed 2nite!

Anonymous said...

"U fucking lucky scouse mugs, u wont be laughing when we bury u at "fortress" Anfield. U are shit and fucking lucky u were not smashed 2nite!"

lol, perhaps if we played a decent side we would have been, the fact we didn't play too well away from home and still came away with a draw and a vital away goal says something about the team we were playing lol

Unknown said...

look at all the bitter gunners cry... HaHa

The fact is we You really don't get it do you? We went their looks for the away goal we got it! Thats all that matters... yes you can say you played us of the park but remember we also score within 3 mins (yes 3 mins) THINK???, it dosen't matter if we don't play well which mean we wasn't firing on all cylinders, we got what we wanted, now uses are on the back foot on the second leg at anfield, were we will hold you to a 0-0 draw.

WE WILL PARK A BUS IN FRONT OF THE GOAL, you tired your best at home and did put us to bed... If you think you will score lots of goals at Anfield think again GAME OVER> Advantage LIVERPOOL

Anonymous said...

There is a newer post now, to vent ur muggy views u scouse bastards!

Wrighty7 said...

Why can't we score plenty of goals at Anfield? Our reserves scored six there last year! As anon, theres a new post now.

Unknown said...

Wright7.

Please keep dreaming of your win... it won't happen, your playing LIVERPOOL in the CL quarters... remember Chelsea with their 400m squad 2005/6 pure domination of the EPL?

We are a totally different team in CL, Rafa is the Magician... Oh rumour as it pool will play the reserve team on Saturdays League game. Emmm

I wounder why... A bigger games to fry. bye

Wrighty you say Liverpool love to 'cling on' to the tag of being european masters. Why would we need to cling on to this tag when its clear to the obvious footballing eye that we are european masters. We've won the european cup more times than any other so called big english club and got to 2 finals in the past 3 years and are firmly on course for another big challenge at the trophy. We've beaten teams like Chelsea, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, AC Milan to name a few, so to me, its obvious that we are european masters, keep dreaming of being in that position. All you arsenal fans thought we'd be a walk over tonight and basically you seen your arses big time. We out sang you in your own ground on huge european occasion, the only song you seemed to sing loudly was the very creative adebayor give him the ball and he will score, must of taken a while to work that song out no? We're going to come flying at you at anfield and im 100% confident we'll find outselves a goal up within 20-30 minutes, and then catch you on the counter attack later in the game and seal the tie. If anyone knows anyone close to the arsenal club, pass on a thankyou message to Nicklas Bendtner for that superb goal line clearance. You've lost the title, your out of the FA Cup, and believe me you WILL get knocked out of the european cup next tuesday. So... who's season is a failure now gunners? :-) P.S - I wont be checking this message board again so if you feel the need to reply, dont direct it at me because i won't read it. ***** Roll on Moscow.

You arsenal fans are absolutenly deluded. Do you realise who the most successful ever english club is? LIVERPOOL. Do you realise who the most successfull english club this century (2000 on wards for all you thick cockney fish mongers) yes, its LIVERPOOL. Wenger is a shite manager, when was the last time he won anything? exactly. Keep living in a dream world because the fact is a club like you will never EVER be as big, or successfull as a club like Liverpool.

Anonymous said...

Arsene wenger is the type of manager who likes to paint his picture quickly with all types of colours while benitez uses his tactical knowledge and paints his picture with bits and pieces to give him a perfect result. feeling too over confident is the CL is not the key to success and this is arsenal's problem right after they beat milan. Toure and co spoke too soon when the pressure was on arses to win the 1st tie at home.

dont compare the fa cup and league cup wins to a CL game, those are two different competitions.
Why do you want to tell us you hammered us in the league cup when you couldnt even win the final after all that? you beat the current winners of the fa cup last year but didnt go on to win the fa cup. you beat us at the emirates in the league but we still finished above u..our youth team have won the fa cup 2 times in a row, where is yours?

we have won the league cup and european cup more than anyone in england as well as the league, the only thing you have won more than us is the fa cup and cup winners cup, so be content with that

Hmmm - Liverpool must be scaring the hell out of you now after the away goal... ASS wankers. Oh and remember it's Anfield not the San Siro with some old aging Milan side.
Bring it on at Anfield on European nights, you gonna cream your pants..

Anonymous said...

Wrighty 7, you seem to be very found of telling us about how good your youth side is, or how well Arsene has done at the club (he has worked mircles though because without him you as a team would have possibly won teo or three Carling Cups). Although all that will be irrellevent come Tuesday as we knock out of the Champions League with a few good moves ending in a goal or two leaving you out to dry and very frustrated. Perhaps, after looking back on the chain of events in a few weeks time you will look back and say;"...maybe the youth side would have been better"

Sad to see another anonymous ?? Sorry not interested to signing up. However, Ive attended ever match at Anfield this season, save Derby, and the best opponensts were the Gooners. I also saw them beat us 3-1 in the FA Cup last year. Wenger is no mug, and compared to Chavski and the Scum. I admire Arsenal and their footballing philosophy. Yes Im a Liverpool fan. However, the anti scouse rants here are sad and belong in the eighties. Ill retain my dignity on the Kop when we clap Almunia into goal again. But hub cap nicking ? Please get a life. At least we risk less chance of a knife in the ribs on Merseyside than Norf Landin. Sad,.
