Is Robin Van Persie REALLY World Class?

I've just read an article on Arsenal.com about Robin Van Persie.

Le Boss is full of praise for the Dutchman and states that he is a top top talent and is in fact, world class.

I rate Van Persie so highly and believe that he is world class, as I'm sure many Gooners also do.

I think that he has the potential to one of the best players in the world, maybe even in the top three.

But this depends on him shaking off the injuries that he has had over the last 16 months or so. Its been a terrible time for him, and I really hope that he remains injury free and completes a full season.

It has been frustrating to watch his injury problems and he is in danger of becoming a wasted talent.

If he can't remain injury free then he may become a liability that Arsenal can not afford. We have too many injury prone players and Robin Van Persie is one of them.

But if he can shake off the niggles and injurys, then boy do us Gooners have a player on our hands.

Robin Van Persie is world class.

Keep it Goonerish............

Great player. Almost world-class. Problem is, he will never ever complete one full season without missing at least half of it. He is a Sicknote and when you have been at the same club three years but still you cannot complete a full season then it is not 'unlucky' when it keeps happening. Darren Anderton was not 'unlucky' with injuries and neither is Ledley King. They are brittle sicknotes and RVP is not different.

Add Rosicky to that too. And then add to that the facts that Senderos is shite, Almunia is shite, Song is pretty shite, Djourou is shite, Hoyte is shite. Eboue is shite.

I dunno who Arsene thinks he's kidding when he calls this his 'best ever squad'. If he really thinks so then I'm worried. Because his 'best ever squad' won f*ck all. No way fit to compare to Invincibles, any of the teo Double teams or even the CL team.

Too much dross, no squad depth. Shite keeper, shite centre-back pairing (Toure has lost the plot this season), average in attack though Ade done good this year. No width, Eboue utter, utter pants.

Gooners need to get real and stop over-hyping mediocre players like Song and kids clearly not ready like Vela etc. The squad needs SERIOUS beefing up in summer but doubt it will happen. If AW does not get in at least a top centre-back, a top keeper, a top winger and a top striker (cos RVP WILL get injured again next season, Edu will take at least till 2009 to come back, Nick needs time though Theo is class) then you can comprehensively forget about any trophies next season. It will be another trophyless one.

Even as a Gooner one thing I have to say is that Arsene's record in Europe is completely unacceptable. He cannot be considered a top, top manager (and never will) until he can sort himself out in Europe and do better than ONE semi in 10 years.

you have a point.. but i remember in an interview with henry a couple of seasons ago henry said that he has played with 3 top class skillful players mentioning zidane bergkamp.. and van persie.. we're yet to see his best hopefully those injuries shake off

Wrighty7 said...

Hey, if TH14 has mentioned RVP in the same breathe as Bergkamp then we know he is world class.

The world is his oyster if he steers clear of injuries.

Van Persie is world class. no doubt. and for that reason i think arsenal should stick by him, see if he can come through his injuries as he is still only young. remember what gerrard was like several years ago when he broke onto the scene, people thought he could end up wasted talent. but now he doesnt seem to miss a game. and to the poster having the rant about arsenal. get BEHIND your team dont rip strips of them. they have exceeded all expectations and i believe if eduardo had not had his injury his goals would have won us at least five points, and therefore the title. these are the little differences in football. and to claim almunia as shite and song as well is stupid. almunia has been very consistent all year. and no, not consistently shite, consistently good, hasnt let us down once all year. and song has performed very well in the final weeks.

no. he's an injury prone cunt.

RVP is a great player. One of the most powerful strikers of the ball, great vision and passing. I wouldn't put him in top three though, not even top 10. Taking his absence out of it, all those players are master dribblers of the ball at one on one situations. I don't know if he has mastered that yet

Personally, I dont believe he is world class.

I really dont like it when he comes deep to get the ball-he takes too many touches and is overly casual and nonchalant.

I dont think he is a deep lying striker, he sometimes appears to be playing a completely different game to the other players.

I will say this though- when used as an out and out striker, he is awesome. He is one of those strikers like Batistuta, who needs to play high up the pitch, get the ball and whack it. He scored lots of goals early season when he was playing up front on his own with Hleb behind him. Once he got injured Ade came to the fore- you would think that they should complement each other perfectly but as a STRIKE partnership they havent really played well or even combined (I know Robin crossed from the left for Ade at Old Trafford).

Anyway, my view is that we need another striker. I dont think we will win the league with Ade, RVP, Bendtner and Eduardo. If we do, I will gladly eat shitloads of humble pie.

I think hes best as he played for holland in last world cup, as a more withdrawn right sided support striker where he can cut in and shoot
In my opinion hes technically as good as it gets and plays with intelligence. With a bit more pace or strength he would be unstoppable.
If he can stear clear of injuries hes worth an extra 5-points over any of the other strikers we have in our squad, or perhaps any of the other strikers in the league.

Well let just hope that if he is world class and proves it next season,he doesnt then go to Milan or Barcelona!

press 1. in wenger we trust. press 2. experenice or youth 3. should i stay or shud i go. 5 at least where best footballing team. 6 why do we have the quiestest stadium. 7i will go to specsavers.

I don't believe he is world class. He cannot play with his right foot, he is weak and injury prone. Torres or Tevez are better

i have it on good authority (my friend works in the kitchen) he saw JULIO BAPTISTA at the stadium he took in a plate of food to him and ARSENE WENGER. belive it!!!!! he will be an Arsenal player next season.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

no he is not...too one footed. Epl defenders have found out how to mark him out of the game...they just sheild him away from his stronger foot. yes he does score a blinder or two but that doesnt mean he his world class.

nevermind the fact that he is also a sicknote.
Wenger should wake up from his dream of waiting for this guy to explode into the scene...5 years and still waiting.

as for Wenger, no excuses next season u better win either the EPL or CL or u should walk

Anonymous said...

He obviously is world class, have you seen him compete at an international level with holland???

Anonymous said...

He's more of a sicknote than Darren Anderton, you'd be better off with an ole ole account.

Anonymous said...

Wenger should walk?????
You should walk m8.....off a cliff!!!
Wenger has built the club to what it is today and has openly stated about being in a transition period!!
We wernt even predicted to finish in the top 4 this season and look at us!! Plus we would have been through in the CL if we actually had a ref in either game!
As for Vanny P he is not even close to being as bad as Anderton, get a life!
He is soooo obviously world class i wonder who the hell these people are that doubt it! Think of him when he is fully fit, the goals he scores, the play he makes for AFC and Holland! The volley against Charlton is more than enough evidence!

Anonymous said...

2cts: RVP is great but certainly not world class or you would have the likes of Real Madrid, AC Milan etc coming at the doors to see if he is for sale.

He gets injured primarily from his twisting style of play, one mis-timed move from the defender and he could be out for ages. The English league is fast-paced, brutal and direct so he should adapt his style of play to play more efficiently.

Anonymous said...

so what if he scored a volley against charlton, world class is when u score against class teams in a big game. As for wenger...I support Arsenal not Wenger unlike u idiot. What matters is winning and he is not doing it. The ref excuses is getting a bit stale, lets wait and see his excuse next year.

What you published was actually very reasonable. However, what about this?
what if you added a little information? I am not suggesting
your information is not good., but what if you added something that grabbed people's attention? I mean "Is Robin Van Persie REALLY World Class?" is kinda plain. You ought to look at Yahoo's home page and watch how they write news
titles to get people to click. You might add a video or a related picture or two to get people excited about what you've got to say. Just my opinion, it could bring your posts a little livelier.
