Green light for Yaya to join?

Barcelona have just gone and bought Seydou Keita from Sevilla.

Now you may wonder, whats that got to do with Arsenal?!

It could have alot to do with Arsenal.

Keita is a defensive midfield player, so is Yaya Toure. And both wont want to play second fiddle to the other.

Barca have a new manager, Pep Guardiola, and are expected to make some changes this season. Yaya Toure is said to be on way out.

We've just lost Flamini, so could Yaya be the replacement? I believe he could.

Barca play similar football to us and having watched him over the season I reckon he could fit into Arsenal style of play and provide us with some physical presence as well.

He's always wanted to play with Kolo and Arsenal have a strong African presence at the club, so he would have no problems settling in.

Keep it Goonerish............

Yaya Toure would be some signing. He is absolutely quality. Big and strong too.
I'd love us to get Yaya.

I would cream myself...

He's never impressed me that much, decent player that's all. If Barcelona want rid what does that tell you?

Cant see why not?
It could be on the cards.

I suppose new ideas mate at Barca?
I must say I've been impressed with him at Barca last season.

He's not that good on the ball.

Do we want him ? As my dyslexic german friend said to me

"Ya..ya...e iz gut"

Anonymous said...

What sets me thinking is that he's had at least one trial with Arsenal in the past but he wasn't retained.

i dont think wenger should not use sentiments because kolo is his brother to get yaya. I still feel he is the top quality player we need to run the middle. We need someone with the endurance and tenacity of flamini but a more sensible and quality player.and i dont think yaya is that player,he seems to disappear and get tired alot in games

Anonymous said...

i remember hearing somewhere that he couldnt get a work permit, and eventually went to some ukrainian club...

Anonymous said...

He wasn't retained due to permit problems I think

Think how much he would improve at Arsenal though.
And he job would basically be to mind Cesc.
And he's big enougth to do that!

Yaya is quality, and he'd fit perfectly, I think..

But.. With a growing contingent of African players, we'd lose essential players every second year (in ex. Toure x2, Ade, Song, [Eboue])
Will that leave us competing ALL the way only every 2 years? And with the history of Arsenal not doing that well after Euros and World Cup, that would make a pretty lousy statistics ..

I say, even thouh Yaya is great, we should focus on European players.....

I don't fucking care about nothing!
Yaya is a great player, and would add great skills to arsenal squad

YAYA IS NOT COMMING TO ARSENAL THE SOONER EVERYONE REALISES IT THE BETTER, ANY DAY NOW WE WILL SE THE HEADLINE "YAYA STAYING IN BARCA"

Anonymous said...

Yaya would be a great signing.. However when the ACN comes round again it means we'll suffer more than most.

well i would want him at arsenal as i believe he would give a balance in midfield and then that means eboue can be dropped. if hleb wants to leave why not swap.

There are some thing to think about here. IF Yaya comes, he will want to play with his brother, which I believe is a good thing. That esp between centre defense and centre midfield will be something special. So i ask, is Kolo going to be in the centre of our defense next year? he would have to be if Yaya comes? Where does that leave Will Gallas? Also would we do a straight swap, Hleb for Yaya? i don't think so, Hleb is rated at about 16 Mill and Yaya at 10 million. I believe though, with the two brothers and their special bond, Yaya would be a smooth fit into Arsenal FC..

You are looking at it the wrong way. If Yaya signs it gives players like Diaby and Denilson false hope that they can make it here so they stay waiting for that African Cup of Nations to come around where they play for a bit and then get dropped.

Anonymous said...

didn't Yaya have a trial for us a couple of summers ago? he obviously didn't impress the boss then

Anonymous said...

Barca also let Cesc go so what does that tell you!!!!

Anonymous said...

We wont get Yaya, we dont need him. Alex Song is a very similar player i reckon. He will be the man to step in to centre mid, he'll be a better player than Yaya is.

Anonymous said...

Song was only signed because we could not sign Yaya (work permit problems) and Song's recent conversion to defense and Wenger saying that he will not be a midfielder says tome that Yaya is the better of the two.

God, there are some dumb Arsenal fans.

I feel it is very unlikely.

Even if one assumes that wenger likes him as a player, then I cannot see us signing someone who has just recently undergone back surgery and not even proven his recovery. He'd never pass the medical for starters!!

Arsene is on record, saying that an agreement with Beveren was agreed but Yaya could not get a passport. Beveren did not want to wait for him to get one in order to sell to us and was in the need for somecash so sold him soon after his trial with us.

I would therefore assume that if he was available at the right price, then Arsene would try to sign him.

Yaya would be super signing

Anonymous said...

He wouldn't suit us, he is more like Gilberto a Defensive wall. We need a high energy tackling player like Flamini, Lorik Cana could be great he is like Flam but Taller and Stronger

Anonymous said...

Am African, but we need to think hard about how many Africans we buy into the first team...lest we suffer when the ACN kicks off. Imagine if Ade's Togo had qualified for ACN,it wud hv been disaster 4 Arsenal! Where wud we hv got those goals? We need to be a little cautious like Fergie.

big news from my mate who is a cleaner at emerites. yaya was in london today signing a contract with wenger. he'l be announced tomorow

Anonymous said...

Lorik Cana looks the most filthy, vile and dirty player ive ever seen - if arsenal signed him i'd eat my own poo.

Don't mind that video mate, he is actually a really good player thats the only video that makes him look dirty his work ethic is great, so is his leadership and he is a beast of a man. He could be like Cesc and Samir's minder

Fellow gunners, i think some of u are just dreaming, Wenger is a genius, do u think he will like to be playing someone and his brother in the same team, i doubt that, like bringing player back, no, it won't happen imo. And why do u keep on saying we need someone like Flamini who is a running man, we don't need someone like that, we only need someone who is sensible with the ball and can win the ball back, that is why we need to use Song in that position, he is more than capable of doing a great job, if not, then get Barry. Nothing else, we don't need Toure, we need Villa, Barry or Song, and Barry because he is English.

Anonymous said...

But if we have a running man it will relieve Cesc from defensive duty, we need somebody that will stand up and be counted which is why im proposing Cana

one major flow with ur theory..... Keita is a creative playmaker/wing.
he is probably the replacement of Deco rather than Yaya

Unknown said...

Not so sure about Yaya. We have ample cover in this area. Remember, Flamini was not first choice at the beginning of the season. we have similar type of players to Yaya, Djourou, Song, Diaby......all big and strong type. Currently, after the signing of Nasri, we should concentrate on signing the big central defender. After that, any other signing will be a bonus.

I thought he was a striker or am I thinking of another player?

Anonymous said...

It is a different player the other Keita plays for Lyon

Anonymous said...

Why oh Why does this crazy rumour keep coming up? Le Boss has had Yaya on trial twice and both times he has turned him down. Now why would he go back again and get him when he will have gone, unnecessarily, up in value......!?

Anonymous said...

Anonymous @ 26 May 2008 19:38 -- If Barcelona want rid what does that tell you? -- Well they also want to get rid of Eto so does it mean he is shit too. Well mate. when there are changes made many big name players also go.
I recon he will be a good addition to our squad.

Anonymous said...

yaya will b great 4 us, he'll b like viera strong, tall and a great defensive midfielder also family connections with kolo will help.

Anonymous said...

If Iremember correctly Cesc couldn't really play well with Vieira

Anonymous said...

Yaya or De la Red to join us and we wouldn't miss Flamini. Madrid have resigned a defensive midfielder so that would free up De La Red. He'd make Cesc happy too what with him being spanish too.

Anonymous said...

There's more chance of mary poppins glidin into the emirates with her umbrella than YAYA signin for arsenal, he was 1 of only 3 good players at Barca last season so no chance... Hope im wrong tho but I dont see it happnin.

Anonymous said...

yaya is good but his talent is limited to tacklin really.. why not go all out for aquillani. he can tackle, pass, score goals and is more involved in games.. probably cheaper anyway
which one sounds like better business...?
