If you was in Wengers position, what would you do with Hleb?

Alex Hleb has betrayed Arsenal.

He is just as bad as that little shite cAshley Cole and I hope that I never see him in an Arsenal shirt again.

He is a master of deviousness. One moment announcing how happy he was at Arsenal, the next trying to engineer a move away behind our backs.

On one hand, I like to see him sold to the highest bidder to get this mercenary out of my sight. One the other though, I would prefer to see him rot in the reserves and not get any first team bonuses.

He has been offered an improved deal at Arsenal of £60,000 a week, peanuts compared to the offers from Real Madrid and Inter.

Real "tap up kings" Madrid have offered £100,000 a week as have Inter "all the frozen yogart you want" Milan. Although Inter have thrown an added bonus that Hleb may find hard to refuse.

By all accounts Inter have written into Hlebs contract that for every time he runs into a shooting position and passes instead of shooting, he will get a scoop of his favourite ice cream.

An offer he has found hard to refuse.

It's a shame that it's come to this. Hleb has begun to show why he is dubbed "the white Ronaldinho" and I love him as a player.

It's a shame he has proved to be a different person to what I thought he was.

So the more he hoar's himself around Europe's elite, the more I despise him, and the more I despise him, the more I hope he doesn't run out in a Arsenal shirt again. Ever.

So if I was Wenger, I let him rot in with the stiffs until his contract ends because if he gets his wish and leaves, then he has won.

Keep it Goonerish........

I would sell Hleb to the highest bidder. Simple, really. Or do a swap, say, er, Eto'o for Hleb, or Robinho for Hleb, something like that.

But, WHEN he is sold (coz it will happen) I just hope we have a couple of new signings in before it happens, for the sake of PR, morale, etc.

Easy, I'd sell him.

I've never been a fan. Not even after this season. Yes, he's got amazing feet. Yes, he has fabulous ball retention.

BUT, he plays on the wing. That's not what we need from him. We need him to commit his defender and whip crosses in. To at least have a shot on goal once every 20 matches.

His goal return is laughable and he doesn't rack up enough assists for one of our most creative players.

Sell him. We could easily get 10-15 million from the likes of Madrid. Put the cash towards an out and out winger, like David Silva or Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Sell him.
But let the rest of the players know this is a one time off.
Buy/recruit players who won't leave once they've made a name of themselves.

don't be so f*** gentle towards the players, this is ARSENAL, a great club which they should be proud playing for.

I wrote earlier: I have heard a whisper that there is a deal being put together between Hleb and Robinho, from a source that gave me Sol Campbell all those years ago, says its 50:50 possibility at the moment, its a part swap with us giving 6m, apparently his agent (Robinho) was seen at the training ground earlier today!!!

Drive him to the airport and wish him well.

Anonymous said...

Sell him Wrighty!

Don't sell him until you have a superstar replacement though... and that isn't Arfa or Nasri.

Once you have the replacement, then go after your 3 signings!

Interesting point raised regarding the wages... did you know thatis why Robinho is thinking about going - because Madrid wont give him Galactico wages!

Good luck appeasing the Madrid fans Hleb... they won't clap you with production figures like this seasons!

Have you honestly asked urself why a player trying to earn a living should be loyal to a club especailly if he is not from that area.
Have you asked why we are the only big club with small wages
Every employee in all work of life feels his entitled to a certain amount of money and if you dont get it here and you get better else where then please go for it.
my problems is not with the player but with the club that doesnt want to leave up to its status. Football is not just any business

It should be 'if you were in Wenger's position', not was.

Wenger will get rid of him - he's only making sure he gets a good price first

Anonymous said...

easy....swap him for robinho + cash

Wrighty7 said...

Didn't know that Pedro!

Perhaps Robinho will accept our miserly offer!

Unlike Fla-money!!

Anonymous said...

'Small wages' ??? Thats a cop out. Since when has £50k+ been small? Just coz another team has offered MORE dont mean they are on a pittance at Arsenal. How much was Sol and Thierry on? Pires and Freddy? Gallas and cesc?

Its bullshit shit stirring from the media. They get a decent wedge at Arsenal. But they'd still rather piss off to get more. Fair enough and yep, its true, when you nuy foreign players you cant be surprised when they go off to another country.

Wenger said it himself, so the answer is to have more English players, like, erm Cashley Cole and Sol!

Anonymous said...

Give him 100 grand a week.

Wrighty7 said...

Exactly Horace the Goat.

Arsenal do pay good wages, its just "small" wages compared to what Madrid and Inter offer.

Anonymous said...

I'd be sick if we paid Hleb £100k just to keep him sweet. Seriously, he aint worth that. Now if he was Pires in his prime then, hell fucking yeah! But he aint, never will be.

So, adios, arrivaderci Alex. lets just hope we can screw as much cash out of who ever buys him.

Wrighty7 said...

Horace the Goat,

I totally agree with you mate.

I think people confuse football with their own jobs.

A £10k rise in a normal job is life changing (For most). Does an extra £10k a week in football massively improve your life? Doubtful. You are rich beyond most peoples wildest dreams already.

I think when the fans pay your wages and hero worship you week in week out... maybe you do owe them a bit of loyalty.

Especially considering the patience we've shown him...

Oh well, rest assured... the Madrid fans wont tolerate him. He is not glitzy enough... White Ronaldinho, without the assists and the goals... oh, and the trophies.

Wrighty7 said...

Great point Pedro,

A little loyalty doesn't go unnoticed.

Look at Fab, loved cos he loves Arsenal as much as we love him.

Anonymous said...

Nice one Wrighty!

I don't think the extra cash is about what the players can spunk it on; mock tudor mansion, baby bentley, Rolex, new tits for the missus, her sister and the cleaner...whatever.

I think its more about egos. The agent will tell their client, such a players on this much and so they should be earning more, yadda yadda. Look at Terry twat and Lumpard at the chavs.. all this shite about them being loyal and Chavs thru and thru... bollocks, thats why they screw if they aint always the number one earners at the club.

Silverhead said...

His time in his prime is short so do not play the blame game and let him go and wish him well. There is always someone else to replace him. Arsenal is always bigger than any player.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell the cvnt to FECK OFF BACK TO BELARUS IN HIS ICE CREAM VAN.

he is a cvnt of a man. A shy mysterious cvnt of a guy.

Although he is a good ball player he has lacked ambition to further himself this season. Very little shooting, nothing out of the ordinary... just the normal ball-hogging and running around with a few rare glipses magic.

Given the chance... Wenger should sell him to the highest bidder.

He doesnt want to be here. He is wasting our time.

Anonymous said...

Exactly, who will ever remember Hleb at Arsenal? How can Hleb make himself a legend at Madrid... He can't...

Cesc will go down in history... hopefully!

Lets just pray he lands us a few trophies. I am still a little sicked out over the Manc's success this season...

hes a greedy mercinery. if i had a choice he would rot for 2 years of his contract.no heart , no soul , his god is money.get rid , buy a player with a bit of heargreedy bastard t who plays for the fans and jersey. sick of players like hleb and famoney whos only goal in life is to milk everything for what its worth . better of rid.they have no heart , soul or ambition, just money . greedy bastard mersineries.theyl probably finish their careers at chelsea

Anonymous said...

Yeh that makes a load of sense, don't get the £15mil+ we could get for him out of spite. You'd be one hell of a board member!

Hleb is going this summer. I know someone who is very friendly with his agent and apparently he'd sorted terms with Inter months ago but Arsene's posturing threw a spanner in the works. Rumour is Hleb will be part of a swap deal and Arsene won't deal with Italy. Apparently Yaya Toure and Robinho are the 2 in question. Anyone else notice that Calderon has stopped talking about nicking Cesc? Seems likely he doesn't want to rile Wenger and damage any works being done. The only worry is that Hleb still has 4 days to submit his request to buy-out his contract. If no movement happens by then his agent and him may panic and do it causing one awful mess. Let's hope things move quickly on all fronts.

I dont want to be a board member Ben, I just want a bit of respect shown to the team I love.

Good points made though.

I'd sell Hleb for whatever we can get, I'm sure it'll be around £10m-£12m. Then I'd buy a nice little effective winger who can score goals. Hleb is an absolutely fantastic player but his assist and goals are very low. We need to rely on wingers who can score goals (overmars, pires, ljungberg, marwood, merson, etc).

Anonymous said...

i have never like helb..he doesnt score, he doesnt assist much either. ok he had an OK season but who give a fvck if he leads. lets get someone who can contribute a least 7-8 goals a season..not in 3 seasons..fvck helb!! doesn't matter to me who leaves arsenal..the arsenal system works..we'll be up there next season challenging for trophies again. spending big or paying outrageous does not guarantee anything..check out livepool and chelski

hleb is luxury player, he has very good on the ball and has good 1-2 ball passing but thats all he can do,he replacement for pires and enyone see he is not half way that good.

he does not have any real pace that will trouble defences , he have any assists and he does not score goals less than 10 goals in three years is not very.

he clearly looking for large contact 100k a week and he not going that no does deserve it.
relations between hleb and wenger cant be very good. if clud is stupid to pay 10-15 million for an attacking that has very little assists and cant score all fool them, better sell and get some from than pay is wages have sitting the reserves.remember its up to hleb if he wants leave he still contacted till least a year and he cant buy out is contact

Anonymous said...

I was ready to see him go mid year before all this nonsense. Skill yes but mostly in the middle third. Remember what we had on the outside before in Freddie and Bob...skill, plus loyalty, plus 15 goals a year. And before he leave give him a clout with a hairdryer. Seems to work elsewhere...Larry

stonroy said...

If I was wenger, I would say to the press. "I would like to sell him to the above teams but he has clearly said that he wants to be in a small town, the big city life is too much". So if small town clubs want him, I am sure Alex and I can accommodate them".

Anonymous said...

Sorry everyone, but I lived with Belorussians, loved a girl from there, and tell you what? SCUM, and am not even European.Greedy.

Anonymous said...

I'd sell him to the highest bidder but i'd be sure to have the two frenchmen if not two other quality midfield signings. Arsene does not like to keep players that are not loyal even if he likes them as quality players (king henry). so he will go. At Real theres enough wingers anyway, would like to see how well he would do but thank him for his contribution orelse we could have been in a worser position.

supermac said...

Sell the bloody shit to Real!!!

Anonymous said...

Hleb's replaceable for a price higher than the 8 million we paid for him, and AW knows this. It's just that it takes a while for a new boy to bed in. We won't have such a good start to the season with both Flamini and Hleb gone, unless Walcott and Rosicky play blinders for four months. Cesc is brilliant in part b/c he knows where everyone is going to be, and vice versa. The only way one can try to predict where Adebayor is going to be is by playing with him for years. Pity good starts really matter. So we are a bit buggered. Hopefully someone at Manure will destabilize their club, too. But that's unlikely. I am not expecting much next year either, tbh. But I don't want to suffer another season either.

Anonymous said...

I would say sell him and get David Silva and Veloso

MeteorMonster said...

Trade him straight up with Real Madrid for De La Red and Javier García.

In DeLa Red we get the attacking midfielder and with Garcia we get the DM player who can also pay at CB.

Taufik said...

Let him go,
Make a profit and buy another player better than him.
Swapping also an option.
Do a swap with another star.
Wenger can find the best for Arsenal.

Hleb's nowhere near as good as Bobby, Freddie or Overmars. I'll lose no sleep over him taking off for more dough. In two years he'll be playing for Lazio/Man City/Stuffgart.

Anonymous said...

Arsenal need to either view themselves as contenders to Man Utd, Chelsea and top other top eurpoean teams and pay their players accordingly. If they cant afford to they need to resign themselves to loosing their best players. They are trying to defy the market and use emotional blackmail to keep their players. Highest priced tickets in the works? WTF? All so the shareholders will be minted once they flog the flats. With Hleb and Flamini gone you can kiss goodbye to the midfield dominance we have shown over even the best teams. But apparently its all about the goals Hleb didn't score that makes him rubbish. Arsene W is desperate to hang onto Hleb. Amazes me that all these people who slate Hleb are the same ones who repaeat the 'Arsene knows' matra ad nauseum.

Anonymous said...

Sell him. I've never been a massive fan of Hleb although he did have a fairly good season. I think Arsenal need to spread the goals around a bit more, especially from midfield and Hlebs goal scoring record is poor.
And all this rubbish about Arsenal being poor payers - we have one of the highest wage bills in the premiership. Probably 3rd behind Chelsea and Utd and much higher than Liverpool and Spurs.

Anonymous said...

Sorry I dont have much time for players trying to hold clubs to ransom.....Alex who, oh right another footballer than other people were only aware of when he joined The Arsenal.

1979gooner said...

I'd do as I think Wenger currently is, pretend we want to keep him but sell him.

As by pretending we want him the price will stay high, if we let it be known that he's leaving then we have no power to command a decent fee.

I think players who do what hleb is doing, ie engineer a move while under contract, deserve to be left to rot.

Hleb has indeed betrayed the club. However people should not slag off Flamini who did everything by the book and was the model pro.

Anonymous said...

if he truly has money to spend then he should try to do a swap deal with real barca any team with players we want. hlebs only moving for extra doe like flamini so flog him anywhere who wants him.
i do think wenger is doing the right thing with keeping everything quiet. when in a showroom or market or bartering do you jump in the air to sign a player for the other side to pump up the price.
the problem also managers like rafa who dont have a clue will watch for whoever wenger wants, tell his board to pay double. chelpea and manwhore are also looking to spend millions so its not going to be easy; keeping quiet is key. wenger wants stupid money for hleb cause i think he needs it.
wouldn't mind a yaya toure and bendzima gift from 1 of those billonaires we got on board.
and finally terry the druggy turncoat new name is da bottler have you heard.

Anonymous said...

he's shite anyway so i wouldn't lose to much sleep over it Wrighty..

Summerspur said...

i would swap him for ghaly

Anonymous said...

please understand he is a totally different player from pires and ljurnburg. so much plays revolve around this guy now if you watch carefully, the team is still scoring a lot collectively and with ease. he can only improve further next season but if money's the real case for him, then i say shaft him. a big waste really.

Anonymous said...

Unhappy players destabilise the team so sell the greedy cvnt. However pleasing on the eye the fact is he rarely shoots, scores or assists so getting rid of Hleb and making a profit sounds like good business.

Lets hope Wenger remembers to buy some leaders e.g. a big ugly centre half, a quality defensive midfielder and a couple of fit wingers who can avoid the treatment table next season.

have a real heart to heart chat on football terms. how magnificent it is to reap the joys from the hard work already sown. if its truly hopeless, then too bad. diego will be perfect. but the price's not.
