Almunia leads Arsenal out as captain in Turkey

With William Gallas and Kolo Toure missing tonight's game in Turkey through injury, Manuel Almunia will lead out the Gunners as captain in a surprise choice by Arsene Wenger.

The Spanish keeper has come far in his short time at Arsenal and being selected as Arsenal skipper will be the highest point of his career to date.

I believed that Cesc Fabregas would have been handed the armband in Gallas' and Toure's absence but that has not been the case. These days it seems the oldest player in the Arsenal side gets the captaincy through default!

Anyway, good luck Manuel!

Keep it Goonerish...........

Almunia doesnt play in the CC.

I would have liked to see Cesc get the armand.

Almunia is not controlling enough to be captain.

You need your big players to be captain.

Cant believe its a 451 with denilson and ade in the lineup. its gunna be a struggle.

4-5-1 is our winning formation, remember last year with Adebayor and Hleb?

as right now 4-4-2 with Denilson and Walcott means really a 4-3-3 because Walcott is not really a midfielder more of a winger

4-5-1 With Diaby instead of RvP works great

Right now, replacing RvP with Diaby, and Denilson with Ramsey is probably the better option and Sagna with Eboue.

Eboue has great attacking flair for a right back.

Song should be out of emirates.
