Hungry? Arsenal should be starving, especially these three!

I'm not suggesting that Arsene Wenger has put the Arsenal squad on a diet and is starving them. What I mean is that Arsenal have been starved of trophies for four years and that the squad should be hungry to stop the barren run. And I think that they will.

I really believe that we will win some silverware this season and you know what I think we will win? I have a gut instinct that the Champions League trophy could be heading for the Emirates trophy room. Anyway, that's for another day.

The three players I think will help push us on to silverware are Eduardo, Rosicky and Diaby. They must be the hungriest players in football. How frustrating must it be for those three? To watch your team mates playing and not being involved.

In Eduardo's case we have just got to happy that he will even be playing again after his horrific injury. It will be tough for him when he gets back on the pitch but he is a tough lad and I think he will cope. The first tackle he receives will be the most important and I think he will be ready.

Rosicky is one of the most talented players in the Arsenal squad, it's a shame we don't see it often enough. He is one of the key players for Arsenal when fit and provides so much creativity. I love watching him play and hopefully when he regains fitness he can keep fit and prove to us how good he can be. Because trust me, he is mustard.

Diaby is only young but has proved very injury prone. Before he broke his leg a couple of years ago he was beginning to show glimpses of his talent. He has a lot to prove, especially as the role of partner to Cesc Fabregas is up for grabs. That spot in the team is there for the taking and many are tipping Diaby to take the chance with both hands. It will show a lot of his character when he gets fit. Will he take the opportunity or will he fold?

Those three have watched their friends play for a long time now. The hunger from each of them can only help Arsenal win things. They will be bursting to get on the pitch and I cannot wait to see them pulling on the Arsenal shirt and proving how hungry they are.

Keep it Goonerish..............

On reading your post, especially the part on his first tackle. Should someone tackle wrecklessly, whos to say he wont get another injury(god forbid).

If the unthinkable does occur then i would have to be the player behind it. I mean injuring someone that just came back from a career threatening break. Your life would affectively be over!

I really hope Diaby comes back. He is one the unluckiest players with injuries i've seen. Dont forget that before we signed him he had been out for almost 8 months with a nasty injuries. Then that sunderland thug ruined him again and was out for almost a year. If it wasnt for that we wouldnt be talking about Flamoney going, 'is it Denilson or song' or we need to buy. It would be Diaby along side cesc. I really do feel sorry for him. For a young player to be out this amount of time early in his career is very bad, and unfortunatly i dont think he will ever fulfill he massive early potential. I hope i'm wrong.

aggreee. but whats the pt of keeping on to a player who constantly gets injuerd like rosicky and will always be injury prone now with this injury he has...shudnt we sign somone instead!?!

danny cipriani returned to play for wasps also after dislocating his ankle. If he could survive a rugby match then Eddie should be just fine when he returns.

Rosicky to my mind is by far the biggest loss of the three.

I'm afraid I can't share the optimism of this post.

Firstly, how can we get through the knock-out stages of the European Cup with a team completely incapable of defending set-pieces? As pleasing as the win against Porto was, they had two great chances at 0-0, and we are clearly defending even worse than last year—when calamity at the back meant losing to a pretty dire Liverpool side.

Rosicky I rate hugely, but I’m becoming extremely concerned about his injury. A few months ago they were saying he’d be back in August; now Wenger says we’d do well to have him back by Christmas. To think we can rely on a trouble-free return (and return to form) is beyond optimism.

Ditto we don’t know exactly when Eduardo will return, nor how he’ll fare.

With regards to Diaby, I have no idea where this view comes from that he can shrug off his constant injuries and become The New Vieira. Even when fully fit his passing is often abysmal – he may have the physique of Vieira, but he has the mind of a schoolkid who thinks he’s Lionel Messi—dribbling every time he gets the ball. Even his tackling can be poor. Just because he looks like Vieira, doesn’t mean he plays as such. I don’t wish to be too harsh – the boy has talent. But the idea that he can come in and change the team is, again, remarkably optimistic.

Given our side’s poor defending (and frankly abysmal defeats to Fulham and Hull), I am almost certain we will not win the League, and cannot see us winning the European Cup unless something significantly changes before February. The FA Cup, as ever, is a possibility.

Anonymous - thank you for your kind comment.

The picture appears as a Blogger setting because I'm a registered user of Blogger. I did not deliberately put it up on this post specifically, and can only apologise profusely if my face offends you so much.

P.S. I believe the correct spelling is "pompous".

P.P.S. And no, I am quite aware that I am not a reporter for the Sun "newpaper".

I agree with Julian. Diaby is another ball loser, who always try too hard in dribbling.

oh by the way I am Fanner. The only thing i don't agree with Julian is the Diaby tried to be Henry instead of Messi.

Yuh I think you're correct, Fanner - certainly with the whole cutting in from the left onto his right foot thing.

I am concerned for Diaby's career as well. at least Rosicky had a career before his problems. I think the bad injury caused by Dan Smith to diaby has had long term impacts on his ability to stay fit. I honestly dont ever see him as being a regular first team player.
I have high hopes for Eduardo to come back in good shape but you can never tell. a long injury can either extend a career or ruin it, only time will tell.

i rate eduardo and rosicky as top class but diaby is not just a school kid he is a baby

i also believe that we have what it takes to win the champo league

i think diaby is one the unlikest players ,dont think he has played a full season yet,he came to the club 2006, and what i have seen of him he is very good, but he realy needs to get good run play a full season,he should be comming back after the international break, which will be great compition for places, i feel delinson has been great vien of form and althouth dm is not his prevert position he is more than able to cover there, but is clearly an attacking midfielder, but dm is more suited for song and diaby. alot of people are saying arsenal lack the experience and the squad is not strong enough,i for one completly disagree with that, i feel the players are young but have the talent and very very hungry.

The whole team should be starving, too bad they aren't.

E_gunner

sure wrighty, in fact that's the only cup we have 1/2 a chance of getting .
Domestically we look average .and we don't take the other 2 cups serious enough .. that only leaves us with the C.L trophy to claim , but again on that front if we play like we did V kyiv then i think the season will just be another right off !
