Aston Villa wont last the pace for fourth place

Aston Villa have emerged into a real threat for Champions League qualification but I think that it will be a step too far for them this season.

Martin O'Neill has done a fantastic job at the club and he has turned Aston Villa into a real force in the Premiership. Their 2-0 victory over us at the Emirates proves this.

Aston Villa fully deserved that win and have players like Young and Abgonlahor who are becoming fantastic players.

Young is a Gooner too! I'd love to see him in an Arsenal shirt!

I mean no disrespect to Aston Villa but I can see them falling away from the top four in the new year. They will finish fifth in my opinion, and that will be a great achievement in itself.

Arsenal will strengthen in January, we have too. I think the likely additions will inspire Arsenal and push us on to finish in the top four comfortably.

Without sounding arrogant it worries me slightly that Arsenal are worried about Aston Villa competing with us for fourth place.

The gap between us and the other top four sides seems to have widened whilst the gap between us and the likes of Aston Villa seems to have narrowed.

It will continue to narrow unless we strengthen the squad, because I'm sure Martin O'Neill will add to his set of players.

I'm sure Aston Villa fans will believe they can finish in the top four and why not? They are firmly in the mixer. They certainly pose a much larger threat than Tottenham do!

I just think it will be a step too far for them this season. Arsenal are due a run of games where we win 7-8 on the trot and that will prove too much for Villa.

Aston Villa also are in the running for Europe, same as Arsenal, but Arsenal have more experience coping with the situation.

I'm sure I saw a stat that Villa have only used 17 players in the Premiership this season. They will be tired later on in the season and I wonder how Young and Abgonlahor will cope without having a rest.

Keep it Goonerish................

Is a top four finish enough?? It certainly does not guarantee champions league football next season like fourth place used. The new format of the qualifying rounds could have us playing against the 4th placed italian team if they aren't seeded.

Wrighty - we're competing 4 the title mate, make no mistake about it

I would never underestimate a team of Martin O'Neil. We should be looking nervously over our shoulder. Villa are a team united with their fans behind them 100% are we that way at the moment?

I sure hope you're right. Villa look better with every game while we are becoming worse, despite winning the last 2.

Any proof that Young is a gooner. Didnt know he was. Would be a nice addition to our squad but he is probably too expensive for Wenger.

arsenal should go for elano in jan

Arsenal are getting worse??

Not as long as Johan stays in the team!

You can't afford Young. We proved in the summer with Barry that we simply do not need to sell players. Young would be worth, what - £20M at least.
We're on your tails, articles headlined such as this only fire us up more.

Wishful thinking Wrighty7. As is a 7/8 game winning run for the Gunners. The reason you are not in the top two is because of your inconsistency this year. Villa will surely strenghthen in the January transfer window with a striker as priority. In my opinion Arsenal need a damn good no nonsense centre half. It will be a close run thing for 4th place but dont bet against Villa getting it. Keep playing great football.

Oh dear!

Dont poeple actually think for thermselves anymore?

I mean, sayig that lazy old hacks mantra Arsenal need a no nonsense CB is soooooooo last month!

Having they noticed that since JD has come into the side we now effin have a tall commanding centre half?

Lazy lazy lazy

And Villans... dont get carried away, your presumptiousness might just bite you on the Arse!

Lets see what happens on boxing day for a start.

I sense Arsenal are a little concerned of Villa and going by the 2-nil loss at Emirates you have every reason to be. G you Villa

As much as i would love to see Villa get 4th (as a fan), i would have to agree with you that we will do well to get 5th. However with villa playing as a team and the problems your having at the moment... i think its going to be closer than you think.

Cant see this 7-8 games, as teams are looking to win against you this season not just go for the draw!

Up The Villa...

Got to love Spike's comment about presumptiousness biting Villa on the arse. This is the same Arse that presumed they just had to turn up to beat the Villa the other week, and, er, got bit on the Arse!
Boxing Day Schmoxing Day!

Watford fan here and I can assure you Ashley Young won't burn out. During our promotion season he just seemed to get stronger and that was a 50+ game season (cup semi's and playoffs). And yes I can confirm he supports Arsenal.

BTW Wenger did enquire but thought the £4m we wanted at the time was too much - shame.

eduardo might make a difference for you when he comes back.

we just need other teams in the pack to keep playing aggresive physical football against you.

if i were you i would forget about the tittle your too far behind you need to win some silverware like the fa cup or chumps league
